Regina McCrary
Aimee Mayo is a Grammy-nominated songwriter. Her songs have spent 26 weeks in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, including hits “Amazed” and “This One’s For The Girls.” She is one of the few females to receive both BMI’s Country Song of the Year and BMI’s Country Songwriter of the Year awards. Aimee channels her troubled childhood, an abusive marriage and later marrying her songwriting sweetheart into her newly published memoir “Talking to the Sky.”
Regina McCrary, a member of Americana super-group and gospel icons The McCrary Sisters, has performed with Elvis as a teenager, Stevie Wonder as a young adult and toured for four years with Tyler Perry. After the sudden death of her son, Regina wrote “A Mother’s Prayer,” a book to encourage healing from loss in the stories of others who shared a similar experience.

As we celebrate The Power of the Purse® virtually this year, it would be impossible to continue without giving special thanks to the women who have provided gifts of time and treasure during this precarious year – including the fabulous Board of The Women’s Fund and the hard-working co-chairs and committee of The Power of the Purse. We are proud to continue our work to make the path easier for those who will one day stand on the shoulders of those who have come before them, championing progress, and pushing ever forward to new heights. ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY WITH TOPICAL ISSUES IMPACTING WOMEN: THE WOMEN’S FUND FORUM
For 20 years, The Women’s Fund has hosted an annual Forum with topics ranging from human trafficking to hunger. The 2020 virtual Forum was the second in a two part educational series on sexual assault. The 2019 program focused on the impact and resources in Middle Tennessee, while the 2020 program was a discussion more specific to life on a college campus. THROUGH YEARS OF RECOGNIZING THE GENEROSITY OF WOMEN GIVING TO THE WOMEN’S FUND SINCE IT WAS FOUNDED IN 1994, AND UNDERSTANDING THAT MOST OFTEN WOMEN SERVE AS THE DECISION MAKERS ABOUT HOUSEHOLD FINANCES, WE INITIATED WOMEN WILL IN 2018.
The first gift commitment to The Women’s Fund through an estate plan came when Colleen Conway-Welch made a bequest as a founder. She remained so committed to that gift 25 years ago and what it represented that she signed on to chair Women Will. Sadly, Colleen passed away before the public launch of these efforts, but we honor her here as a champion for Women Will and her understanding of “the peace of mind that comes with making such a gift.”
Women Will acknowledges bequests designated to benefit The Women’s Fund specifically or to benefit a named charitable fund that supports The Women’s Fund and its grantmaking to help women and girls in Middle Tennessee. A gift through Women Will is easy to make, and The Community Foundation will assist you in doing what you can and feeling great about the impact you will be making in our community. The Women’s Fund and The Community Foundation have experience with receiving potential gifts of cash, stock, real estate and “stuff” (i.e., personal property such as jewelry, art, silver and other collectibles).
