October 20th… workers on the move! We need to redouble the work going into the mass demonstration on October 20th as the Tories at their Conference outline the acceleration of their attacks on the working class, and the Labour Party at theirs welcome a much more articulate Ed Miliband, saying nothing that might offend the City… Coaches will be in Derby – in Full Street opposite the Assembly Rooms Car Park, and at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Centre, 191 Upper Dale Road - at 7.30am and will leave as they fill up – by 8am at the latest. 01332 643216/7 or email unison@derby.gov.uk for seats. Be quick! – places are going very quickly now! There’s also a train – organised by RMT – running from Sheffield and picking up in Derby and Leicester. Last date for bookings (£20 return) is October 16th – phone 0121 212 2355 or email d.jones@rmt.org.uk or d.hannon@rmt.org.uk The Morning Star newspaper is sponsored by the unions and will be available free on the coaches and train, as will a special edition of the Communist Party’s program “Britain’s Road To Socialism”
‘After October 20’ Join us for a drink & discussion After the demonstration we need to build the movement against “austerity”, and for “A People’s Britain NOT a Bankers’ Britain” On November 7th, 7.30pm at The Brunswick Inn, 1 Railway Terrace Derby, the Party branch will be giving a report back from the demonstration, showing photographs, and discussing how we, together with the Trades Council, the People’s Charter and others, can build the movement in Derby. “Bring down the ConDems – Britain needs Socialism” Communist Party General Secretary Following the successful Party public meeting in Derby in early September – very well attended by comrades from the Indian Workers’ Association, a similar meeting is now taking place down the road in Nottingham. Robert Griffiths, Communist Party General Secretary will be the main speaker Thursday October 11th 7pm. International Community Centre, 61b Mansfield Rd, Nottingham NG1 3FN. He’ll be talking about the need to “Broaden The Battlelines” as a recent Party pamphlet put it, drawing together all the individual struggles – for jobs, against pay and pension cuts, for services and benefits, for health, education and housing etc – into one coordinated struggle to bring down this unelected anti-working class millionaire’s government…. And to build the fight for real Socialism
