Rather than opposing the savage coalition cuts imposed on local authorities the Independents and New Labour have meekly chosen to implement them. Although the Tory/Lib Dem coalition claim that these cuts are necessary to reduce the national debt, the real objective is to hand over our Public services to their profiteering pals in big-business. The Independents and New Labour either agree with, fail to see, or prefer to ignore this. If elected our priority will be to challenge the Tory/ Lib Dem cuts, and challenge them NOW before our Public services are wrecked for good.
2. Compulsory take-over of empty office accommodation. 3. Investment in the public transport system linking the town with outlying areas. 4. Council-led drive for investment in clean technology and an increase in recycling. 5. A council-led drive for jobs and facilities for disabled workers. 6. More funding for domestic violence refuges. 7. Higher council tax rates for top-band properties. 8. No more outsourcing or privatisation of council services. 9. Careful use of council reserves to protect jobs and services. 10. A tight cap on councillors' allowances and expenses. Merthyr’s communists support more democracy at street & community level, with real involvement in local projects.
Thursday 3rd May Merthyr County Borough Council election,Vaynor Ward
“
Unfortunately we don’t have the option of giving the Tory and Lib Dems a kicking in Vaynor since they’ve decided not to bother standing. However if you vote Labour or Independent you’ll find yourselves supporting the Tory-Lib Dem Government’s attacks on public services.
1. More public sector housing at affordable rents.

What a shower! The four major political parties in Wales are all agreed that cuts in our public services are necessary. The Con Dem government and Labour before them have handed over fourteen hundred billion pounds of public money to the richest and most irresponsible sector in society - the banks, and now they want us to pay for it!
We are seeing cuts in all front line provision from education to social services
Cuts in emergency services such as the fire service
Cuts in public sector wages and pensions Cuts in benefits and the unconditional right to benefits
Attacks on the most vulnerable in society
such as disabled workers and young people
A large part of the Welsh economy is in the public sector so these cuts are hitting Wales much harder than other areas of Britain and this is just the beginning.
You couldn’t make it up While public sector wages are frozen the top bosses are awarding themselves 50% pay increases. Yet they expect unemployed young people to work for free to help boost their profits. The bosses are even proposing cutting the number of bank holidays we have despite us having the least in Europe already.
None of this is necessary We are the sixth richest country in the world and easily have enough resources to provide
jobs for all, decent wages and conditions for all, reasonable benefits and pensions for all affordable quality housing for all
No Cuts! Tax the Rich!
Merthyr Council Election, Vaynor Ward Thursday May 3rd 2012 Election Communication
free education for all We need to stop subsidising the rich by allowing them to avoid paying tax, scrounging off the state when they go bust and abandoning the communities they locate in whenever they see somewhere cheaper to move to. We say that it is time the rich started to contribute toward society instead of ripping it off. We live in one of the most unequal societies in Europe because the major parties are more concerned with keeping the noses of the rich in the trough while the rest of us tighten our belts.

A large communist vote will send out the shock waves necessary for our political rulers to sit up and take note.
