Hudson Town Meeting warrant includes zoning bylaw updates By Sarah Freedman Contributing Writer HUDSON – The Select Board signed the warrant for the Special Town Meeting at its Sept. 25 meeting. Director of Planning and Community Development Kristina Johnson outlined four zoning bylaw articles that will be on the warrant for the Town Meeting on Nov. 20. She said the zoning bylaws were in need of an update because many date back to 1957. “Obviously, a lot has changed since then,” she said. The bylaws tell the story of how a community has developed over time, she said. “It’s time to think about modernizing,” she added. History Updating the zoning bylaws was a directive of the 2014 Master Plan, which is approaching its 10-year anniversary. They will be embarking on the plan to modernize both the structure and content of the bylaws, Johnson said. “This has actually been going on for quite a while,” Johnson said. Perlman, Dumais advance to Nov. election By Maureen Sullivan Assistant Editor MARLBOROUGH – It looks as though Samantha Perlman and J. Christian Dumais will move on to the Municipal Election on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Based on unofficial results from the Marlborough City Clerk’s office, the two members of the City Council edged past Patrick Hogan, who received 1,409 votes in the preliminary election on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Perlman received 1,766 votes, and Dumais got 1,491, according to the unofficial results. Michael Baker came in fourth with 148 votes. Voting was steady at several polling locations, including the Senior Center. According to the City Clerk’s office, there were about 4,800 votes cast, or about 20% of registered voters.

ZBA hearing on Native Sun Wellness continues By Sarah Freedman Contributing Writer HUDSON – Native Sun Wellness, a recreational marijuana dispensary, recently requested at the Sept. 14 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting to be granted a special permit to operate its business between the hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., a two-hour increase from its current
official hours. Native Sun Wellness has been operating its adult use marijuana establishment at 37 Coolidge St. since December 2020, as written in the special permit application. It has operated with the current closing for “almost a full year without incident,” according to the application. Native Sun was looking to
