The Westborough Planning Board recently approved plans for a new facility at 54 Otis Street, next to Amazon Robotics’ existing 50 Otis Street site.

By Laura Hayes Senior Reporter WESTBOROUGH - A plan to build a new 100,000 square-foot building next to Westborough’s existing Amazon Robotics facility is moving forward after obtaining unanimous Planning Board approval on May 3. Plans were submitted by Atlantic Management Corporation and its entity Atlantic-Westborough Realty LLC. They call for a structure at 54 Otis Street, which will represent an expansion of Amazon Robotic’s existing site at 50 Otis Street. “The Planning Board finds and determines… that the project constitutes a suitable development and will not result in substantial detriment to the neighborhood,” Town Planner Jim Robbins read from the draft decision on May 3.

NORTHBOROUGH - Voters headed to the polls in Northborough and Southborough on Tuesday, re-electing a number of incumbents while ushering a handful of newcomers onto town boards and commissions. In Northborough, unofficial results released by the Town Clerk showed Mitch Cohen with a lead over longtime Selectman Leslie Rutan, who had been the board’s Vice Chair. Cohen led in the unofficial count with 1,085 votes. Rutan came in second place with 886 votes, while Tom Dalton amassed 37 votes. Still in Northborough, William Pierce led in the race to replace Planning Board member Michelle Gillespie, with unofficial results showing Pierce taking the win over Jon Lien. Bryce Adam MacKnight appeared set to win a term on the Northborough K-8 School Committee over fellow candidate Gigi Howell. Incumbent Joan Frank held the advantage in a race against William Barlow Redfern II for a Northborough seat on the Regional School Committee, according to unofficial Northborough results. Southborough votes are also counted in the Regional School Committee tally, though. Those results were not available as of press time on Tuesday night. Southborough voters were also settling a contested Planning Board race between candidates Debbie DeMuria and Alan Belniak this week, among other uncontested races.
