By Stuart Foster Reporter MARLBOROUGH - Marlborough’s proposed West Side Fire Station project is now on hold, according to Mayor Arthur Vigeant. Vigeant detailed his plans in a recent letter to the City Council before confirming his intentions in comments to the Community Advocate on Tuesday of last week. “We can’t have twelve people negotiating with different entities and that’s what it’s turned into,” Vigeant said, referring to recent debates with the City Council. Contacted on Tuesday afternoon, City Council President Michael Ossing said that the Council would continue to support the fire station project regardless. Fire station | 6
MARLBOROUGH/HUDSON - Community members gathered in downtown Hudson and Marlborough earlier this week to recognize Memorial Day. Reviving several traditions put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic, parades and ceremonies prompted public speeches by local officials as well as reflections on the sacrifices of fallen veterans. Hudson’s parade began on South Street in town, snaking toward South Street’s intersection with Houghton Street before doubling back toward Town Hall. Marlborough’s parade ran from the American Legion Hall to the west along Main Street before ending at the city’s Memorial Square war memorials. Marlborough and Hudson observances were, further, just some of several events taking place across the region, as other area communities gathered to bring back their own parades and ceremonies for 2022. See full coverage of Hudson and Marlborough events beginning on page 12.
