THE CONGOLESE TALES A UNIQUE ORAL HISTORIES project for the Congolese community in Greater Manchester Are you Congolese? Would you like to SHARE YOUR STORY? Or create a music narrative to tell the powerful story of the Congolese migration to Britain in recent years? LISAPO - THE CONGOLESE TALES is looking for volunteers and participants. For more information please contact: peggy@can.uk.com or telephone 0161 234 2940 / 07456427741
LISAPO - THE CONGOLESE TALES will focus on the narrative oral histories and cultural traditions of the Congolese community which has been migrating to Britain since the late 1980’s as a result of the destabilisation of the country and consequent civil war.
WE WILL: provide a permanent public archive of Congolese oral histories in the UK; and produce a heritage-inspired musical oratory featuring spoken-word, song and narration that will be performed in June 2014.
WHO IS COMMUNITY ARTS NORTH WEST (CAN)? CAN is a Manchester-based arts organisation which specialises in making great art with people from Greater Manchester’s diverse communities.
