“I love Dr. Jenna and I can’t imagine what my life would be without having met her.”

meet Carolyn Hufnagle Carolyn Hufnagle is no stranger to pain. At 74 years young, Carolyn had spent most of her life dealing with Scoliosis and Osteoarthritis. In October of 2020, she decided enough was enough and went in for the first of what would turn out to be 3 back surgeries. Surgery number 1 would take more than 8 hours, setting rods and pins all the way up her back to T10. In January of 2021, she had a second surgery to remove the rods and pins. And for the next 2 years, she suffered. So when she was referred to a new therapist, one that could possibly help manage her pain, she decided she had to try. And that is when she met Dr. Jenna Klenieski of Advanced Motion Rehabilitation. “Jenna is like a gift”, says Carolyn. “I was at my wits end. I had been to other therapists, and I had complained to my Doctor about the muscle pain I was having, but nothing seemed to work. I couldn’t do anything but sit in a chair. I couldn’t bake or garden or even bend over without hitting the floor. I couldn’t do any of the activities I loved. Dr. Jenna changed all that” Carolyn came to Dr. Jenna about 6 weeks prior. Since then she has had two major breakthroughs. One of those breakthroughs involved driving. For years, when Carolyn came to the end of her road, which was a Y intersection, she had to take her seatbelt off and turn from her butt to see. This past week, she was able to turn from her neck. She almost cried. She showed me how she was able to turn her neck from side to side, and the smile on her face spoke volumes. “It’s all Dr. Jenna. She watches you for the whole hour. Every move you make. It was exactly what I needed. I didn’t want to take any more medications. I was lost,“says Carolyn. “Dr. Jenna is in tune to her patients. She is so knowledgeable. She just

knows what you need to work on to get to your goals.” Some of those goals included baking, gardening, and playing with her 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. One of her grandchildren is special needs, and not being able to pick her up was tough, says Carolyn. “I was getting despondent. Dr. Jenna has made such a huge difference in my life. Even something as mundane as shopping was a chore.”, Says Carolyn. Now she is back to shopping, enjoying nature, baking for her grandchildren, and has an enthusiasm for life again. Carolyn worked a lot on getting back upper body strength, through rowing, movement, and proper posture. Dr. Jenna also did a lot of hands on manipulation which Carolyn said helped tremendously. “I love Dr. Jenna and I can’t imagine what my life would be without having met her.”, Says Carolyn. “Now I am cheerful, looking forward to doing things and getting my life back.” After she is released from Physical Therapy, Carolyn is going to stay with Advanced Motion in their small group Personal Training program. She is looking forward to being an active part of her grandchildren’s lives for years to come.

Unveiling the Enchanting History of Halloween Halloween, a festive holiday celebrated on the eve of All Saints’ Day, has a rich and captivating history that stretches back centuries. Rooted in ancient Celtic traditions and influenced by various cultures, this beloved holiday has transformed into a magical blend of superstition, community, and fun. The origins of Halloween can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated around 2,000 years ago. On the night of October 31st, the Celts believed that the boundary between the living and the dead blurred, allowing spirits to roam the earth. To ward off these wandering souls, people lit bonfires and donned costumes, merging the realms of the living and the supernatural. With the spread of Christianity, the festival of Samhain merged with the Christian observance of All Hallows’ Eve, the night before All Saints’ Day. The Church aimed to replace pagan practices with Christian traditions, leading to the integration of elements such as lighting candles for the dead and praying for souls in purgatory. The term “Halloween” itself is derived from “All Hallows’ Eve.”

Creamy Butternut Squash Orzo with Sausage Fall is here and that can only mean one thing... Butternut Squash! If you haven’t tried this versatile fall staple, this is a great recipe to start with. The sweet nuttiness of the Butternut squash pairs perfectly with the savory sausage. This is the ultimate Fall dinner: creamy, comforting, and delicious. This simple recipe is so easy to make - it will surely become one of your favorite family dinners! If you make this recipe, drop a photo on our Facebook page. We would love to hear from you!

Active Time: Total Time: 40 minutes 60 minutes

Servings: 6-8

INGREDIENTS: 12 oz Italian sausage casings removed 1 tablespoon olive oil • 1 cup heavy cream • ½ cup chicken broth • 1 cup butternut squash puree 3 cloves garlic minced • 10 oz orzo uncooked • 2 tablespoons fresh sage chopped 2 tablespoons fresh thyme • salt and coarsely ground black pepper to taste 1. Cook Sausage. Remove the sausage from casings, and slice the sausage. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat in a large, high-sided skillet. Add sliced sausage and cook on medium heat for about 4 minutes on one side, without turning, to get the sausage slices browned. Flip over to the other side and cook for 2 more minutes. 2. To the same skillet with sausage, add heavy cream, chicken stock, butternut squash puree, and minced garlic. Bring the sauce to a boil on medium heat, reduce to low-medium heat, stir everything well. Cook for about 5 or more minutes. Make sure the garlic is cooked to your liking, and the sauce thickens. Cook longer if you would like a thicker sauce. Remove from heat. While the sauce cooks for 5 or more minutes, cook the orzo as described below. 3. Bring a pot of water to boil. Cook orzo according to package instructions. In my case, I cooked orzo al dente for 7 minutes in a pot of boiling water. Remove from heat. Drain but do not rinse. 4. Add cooked orzo to the skillet with creamy butternut squash and sausage. Stir in half of the fresh sage and half of the fresh thyme. Cook over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Season with salt and freshly ground coarse black pepper. When serving, top with the remaining 1/2 of the fresh sage and the remaining 1/2 of the fresh thyme. How to make Butternut Squash Puree: Preheat oven to 375 Fahrenheit. Cut the squash in 2 halves, scrape out the seeds and the fiber out of each half. Place the squash on the baking sheet cut side down and roast in the preheated oven at 375 F for about 30 minutes. Remove the squash from the oven and let it cool. Once the butternut squash is cooled, peel it, and scrape out the flesh to a plate. Place and process butternut squash flesh in the food processor (or blender), working in batches, if necessary. Process it until very smooth and creamy. Now, you have the butternut squash puree ready to use in this recipe. You will need only 1 cup of it. Refrigerate or freeze the rest.

Community Day 2023 East Greenville and Pennsburg held their annual Community Day event on September 9th. The rain held off and even though the weather was HOT the community came out in force to show support for all the small businesses and local Vendors! Main Street from 663 to fourth street was closed to traffic but open to FUN and frivolity! The streets were full of laughter as children got their faces painted, ate funnel cakes and popcorn and slushies and ice cream, and enjoyed moon bounce houses, giant connect four and jenga.

A Huge Success!

The Dunk Tank proved a popular attraction. The smell of sausage and peppers, burgers grilling, tacos, popcorn and more was mesmerizing. Many businesses had lines out the door as the sold icy cold drinks, sandwiches, cookies, iced coffees, and pastries. Musicians lined the streets and mascots were posing for photos with delighted children. Community Day 2023 wouldn’t be the success it was without all the many vendors, organizations and entertainment that participated. Shout out to the many fire police, road crew and police officers who helped keep everyone safe. And a huge thanks to the community who came out to support this joint event!

Are you ready for some football?!? Actually no, I’m just ready for the snacks. With football season having kicked off, we can talk about the important parts of the season, such as tailgate foods. If you find yourself in a snackpetition (obviously a snack competition) I’m going to tell you the secret sauce to winning. I’m a BBQ chicken and wings girl, but I’m so picky! When I stumbled into Windy Springs Farm’s new building in Quakertown and was met with a wall of sauces, I knew I needed to tackle a few! I was searching for a good BBQ, but still something unique and with a fall flavor. I found this Windy Spring’s “Hickory Apple” and let me tell you, I’m waving my wings in the air! This sauce has some serious FLAVOR. It’s smokey and sweet, without being to sweet. You can definitely taste the apple, but it also has an intense tang, yet still gives traditional BBQ vibes. I’m not telling you this sauce is what you need to win your wing-off competition but actually, I kind of am. I’m running-back (Ha, see what I did there) to Windy Springs to try all their other sauces!
