CHRYSTAL ROSE

CHRYSTAL ROSE has

been an event

organiser since 1980. Registered with her local Council, she holds a Personal Alcohol License Certificate.

Chrystal formed Spotlight Promotions with her two sisters and their iconic event, Mr Supercool, was the most attended annual event after the Notting Hill Carnival.

The first final aired of the contest in 1983 and featured in a BBC TV documentary called ‘Something For The Ladies’.

In 1989 Chrystal financed her own pilots resulting in being the first woman in the UK to host an eponymous TV talk show, ‘The Chrystal Rose Show’, 1993 – 1996, aired on Carlton Television alongside her other series, ‘Chrystal’s Style Guide’.

In 1997 Chrystal launched Diamonds a night club in Streatham Hill, South West London which catered to a mature clientele and specialized in playing music from yesteryear, mainly 1960’s – 1980’s opposed to current pop trends.

1998 Chrystal was the first black women to own a store in the West End, Baker Street, W1, selling ladies evening wear, shoes and costume jewellery on her own label.

Chrystal has written and is producing her first feature film, a romantic comedy, “You Can’t Hurry Love”, to be directed by Lee Aronsohn, the creator of ‘Two and a Half Men’.

BOBBIE THOMAS

began the steppin’

journey in 2006 following a divorce. Bobbie learned the basics of steppin’ through weekly classes and through private lessons from Sarah Teagle and LC Henderson.

Bobbie won 1st place in Atlanta’s 2007 Beginner’s Contest hosted by Takin’ It Step

by Step. In 2007, Bobbie assisted Unique Maurice Turner, one of Chicago’s premier steppers and seven time World’s Largest Steppin’ Contest winner, in teaching beginners’ steppin’ at the Pryor Road YMCA in Atlanta. Teaching basics for two hours on Friday and again on Saturday allowed Bobbie to develop into a “smooth” stepper.

Bobbie originally founded Kingdom Steppers, focused on promotion of a monthly steppin’ event with gospel music. Kingdom Steppers conducted steppin’ demonstrations at a number of Atlanta churches and gospel programs. Bobbie later worked with World Steppers International (WSI), founded by Maurice Turner and a partner, to promote a Sunday Stepper’s dance (set). After Maurice returned to Chicago, Bobbie founded NHS Productions (No Half Steppin’ ATL), a social organization that promotes Chicago Steppin’ events in Atlanta. NHS, at one time, hosted a monthly steppin’ “set”, but now hosts periodic upscale steppin’ events – pool parties, rooftop parties, mansion swim parties, etc.

Bobbie was one of the original members of the National Chicago Style Steppers Convention, the precursor to the annual Stepper’s Spring Break hosted in Miami.

Bobbie is a volunteer committee member for Sarah Teagle’s Black and White Stepper’s Ball and for the Good Deeds International (GDI) Heritage Ball.

Bobbie as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) had a career in accounting and internal audit. She worked for some of Atlanta’s top Fortune 500 corporations either fulltime or on a long term contract basis – Southern Company, Delta Air Lines, AT&T, Coca Cola, and Turner Broadcasting. Currently, Bobbie works in accounting for film and television productions and holds a Georgia Realtor’s License 7

SARAH TEAGLE

SARAH TEAGLE founder and CEO of The Steppers Club and Project STEP LLC, has been an instructor in the art of Chicago-style Steppin’ since 2003. Recently, Sarah cohosted the Think Pink Steppers Ball (the official Afterparty for the R. Kelly & Tamia Concert (a fundraiser) in Atlanta, GA USA at the Fox Theatre in the Egyptian Ballroom in partnership with KISS 104.1fm. She was also a Guest Steppin Instructor for world renowned Michael Baisden in Jamaica, WI. In additional, Sarah won Promoter of the Year, Best Trios, Best CDs and was nominated for 7 People's Choice Awards. In the past, she placed 3rd in the ChiSteppers' People Choice Awards as the Top Steppin’ Entrepreneur and tied for 3rd place as the Top Out-of-Town Female Stepper. She also received an Inside Steppin Magazine Award for her nationwide advancement of promoting the artform of Chicago-style Steppin. She has broaden her skills to include djing. Aka LaDee Tease, Sarah, and was the official DJ for the Atlanta Ball Committee Steppin On 2nd Saturdays. She also DJ’d at Legendary Club Ellery’s other local and national steppin weekend events.

The Steppers Club has been featured in numerous articles published by the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Rolling Out Magazine and Inside Steppin.

Sarah has been interviewed on some of Atlanta's top radio stations, V-103, KISS 104.1 and Classic Soul 102.5. A philanthropist and humanitarian, The Steppers Club has donated a portion of the proceeds from the Steppers Ball to Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital, victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, collected donations, given articles of clothing and had Steppin For A Purpose (Benefit Sets) to assist those in need.

As a female instructor, she can take lead in the dance. This enhances her ability to teach the dance to her male students. Sarah has taught workshops for Fortune 500 companies BellSouth, Accenture, and Lucent Technology; as well as higher education institutions including Paine College, Georgia State University, and Morehouse College. She has taught steppin workshops in Akron, Augusta, Boston, Baton Rouge, Charlotte, Chicago, Columbus (GA), Columbus (OH), Dallas, Ft. Lauderdale, Indiana, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Macon, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota/St. Paul, Nashville, Oakland, Ontario (CA), Orlando, Phoenix, Raleigh, Savannah, Tampa, and Winston-Salem.

Affectionately known as “Sensei” and the “Task Master,” she attributes her steppin’ skills to Master Stepper LC Henderson, CEO of The Steppers Workshop. Mr. Henderson (aka "The Technician') taught Sarah the art form of Chicago-style Steppin through the 8-count ideology he refined. Sarah also believes that attending, observing and participating in Sets, taking private lessons, and workshops with various master and premier steppers has helped her to develop style and grace that ultimately contributes to her genius and personal flair.

Less than four miles away from the Hilton Kensington, Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837 and today is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch. Although in use for the many official events and receptions held by The Queen, the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year. The inside tour will take 2 ½ hours.

HYDE PARK

Hyde Park is vast at 350 acres in size and is one of the largest green spaces in Central London. It is open all year round from 5am until midnight.

HARRODS

For high end shopping it has to be Harrods, the historic upmarket store located on the Brompton Road in the Royal Borough Kensington.

The tour will also take us to Oxford and Bond Street which are a mile away from Harrods.

HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Inside one of London’s most iconic buildings: tours of the Houses of Parliament offer a unique combination of 1,000 years of history, modern day politics and stunning art and architecture. Passing through St Stephen’s Hall, tours which are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin, end in 900-year-old Westminster Hall where Guy Fawkes was tried and where Nelson Mandela addressed Parliament in more recent years.

BIG BEN

Designed by Charles Barry, Big Ben lies within the Palace of Westminster. The name is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but Big Ben was first given to the Great Bell. Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower tours are currently suspended due to refurbishment but the stunning architecture is still a joy to behold.

LONDON EYE

The London Eye is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3.75 million visitors annually. Now referred to just as The London Eye, it has also been known as the Millennium Wheel, the British Airways London Eye, the Merlin Entertainments London Eye and the EDF Energy London Eye. A cycle on the London Eye will take about 30 minutes.

THE USA MEETS THE UK WILL BE FILMED BY:

Patrick Thomas’s press life began in the eighties as a freelance photographer working for all black publications, including The Voice, Chic Magazine, Beat Music, as well as The Sun Newspaper and the News of the World. Attending Black Entertainment events at weekends, he supplied photos for newspapers by the following Monday He works from his dark room in which he has set up a photographic system to develop and print in-house. DIRECTIONS TO HILTON & PARKING The hotel is almost on the Shepherds Bush Green roundabout. This is the junction with A3220 West Cross Route, Holland Road and the A40 Holland Park Avenue. Just take the exit for the A40 into central London (Holland Park Avenue) and the hotel is on your right after about 50 yards.

The Hilton is in the most Central of London venues. Parking is permitted on single yellow lines around the venue or valet parking in available starting at £15 for 2 hours.

Holland Park Avenue is easily accessible from the A40 and Shepherd’s Bush underground station by foot or you can take one of the several bus routes to the doorstep.

The Heathrow Express rail service runs to London’s Paddington Station where you can take a taxi, uber or mini cab directly to the Hilton Kensington. The Gatwick Express rail service runs directly to London’s Victoria Station where taxis are also available for the 20 minute car ride.

Getting to the hotel from the North by car: Via the M1/A41 head for Central London and the West End via the A40 and join Holland Park Avenue.

From the South take the A23 head for Central London and the West End cross Vauxhall Bridge A202, join Park Lane north A4202 to Bayswater Road which leads directly into Holland Park Avenue.

From Heathrow Airport follow sign for M4 East. Continue on M4 until it becomes A4 and Park Lane is on the left. It is 15 miles distance and the car journey will is 40 minutes. By tube the cost is under £10. By taxi about £70.

From City Airport follows signs to Central London then Park Lane. It is 14.5 miles from hotel and travel time by car is 60 minutes. By tube the cost is under £10 and by taxi approximately £30.

From Gatwick follow signs to A23, then A23 London. The distance is 36.2 miles from the London Hilton, and the drive time is 45 minutes. By tube the cost will be about £15, by taxi approximately £115.
