Assess the competitive landscape to identify what needs are not being met. Look at direct competitors and indirect competitors. List the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats posed by each competitor. Think laterally and tangentially about your competitors, list their assets and products. What are they doing well? What are the gaps in the market? To identify gaps and needs, don’t forget to look for conversations and questions in your social channels, and your competitors — what are they asking each other for help with? Whilst assessing competitors, also think collaboratively — are there ways in which you can collaborate in creating your community? Consider whether there is an opportunity or appetite for certification programs. What exists already?
