Welcome to the Taste of Blue Ash Dear Community Press Reader: The City of Blue Ash would like to extend a warm invitation to attend the 2010 Taste of Blue Ash in the heart of downtown Blue Ash (Aug. 27, 28, and 29). This year marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Taste, and we’ll celebrate with an abundance of great food and entertainment! We are proud that the Taste of Blue Ash has grown to become a quality event that is eagerly anticipated by Blue Ash citizens and visitors throughout the TriState region. We believe that family-oriented events like the Taste contribute to Blue Ash being nationally recognized as a “fabulous” place to live, work, and play. Here are a few examples of what is planned for this year’s Taste: • Great food from 21 area restaurants

serving a variety of American, Chinese, French, German, Indian, Irish, Mexican, and Thai dishes – complete menus are included in this booklet • A tremendous lineup of FREE entertainment, including national-level artists: Atlanta Rhythm Section, Little River Band, Player, Night Ranger, The Guess Who, Justin Moore, and Phil Vassar – local artists will provide additional entertainment • Free shuttle bus service – see page 4 for details • A Family Fun Area to keep everyone in your family entertained – activities include: festival rides, inflatable toys, carnival games, family-friendly stage entertainment, clowns, a magician, and a comedian/ventriloquist • A “Teen Area” sponsored by the NECC Youth Coalition featuring Laser

Shuttle Service (buses are handicapped accessible) New for 2010. In an effort to better utilize shuttles, we have eliminated some shuttle locations that are within walking distance of Towne Square. There will be no shuttle service from: • Municipal & Safety Center, 4343 Cooper, and Recreation Center, 4433 Cooper • E. H. Greene School, 5200 Aldine However, public parking will be available at those locations. Also, to improve safety in the heavily congested downtown area, some shuttle locations will be several blocks from Towne Square. We recommend that people who cannot walk several blocks use the handicapped parking, or have someone who can walk that distance drop them off at the square and then park the car.

Phil Vassar Phil Vassar has developed into a leading singer/song writer and has become one of the country’s leading pianists. When Phil was young and just starting his music career, his songs reflected pure musical escapism as seen in “Love Is A Beautiful Thing” and “Six-Pack Summer.” However, now that he is a single father of two girls, his level of concern has ele-

Justin Moore Justin Moore is an up and coming country singer/songwriter. He has released one album self-titled Justin Moore, which produced four Top 40 singles including the No. 1 “Small Town USA” and the Top Ten single “Backwoods.” Justin’s first radio single, “Back That Thing Up,” reached No. 38 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His debut album was part of a special promotion called “So You Want to Be a Record Label Executive.” This promotion placed his music on social networking sites such as MySpace and iLike, where fans were allowed to create play lists comprising 10 of his songs; the top 10 songs picked by the fans were then included on the final album. The CD Justin Moore debuted at No. three on the Top Country Albums charts. Justin promoted the single and album on a Small Town USA tour, which began in his hometown of Poyen, Arkansas, and included stops in several small towns. In October 2009, “Small Town USA” became his first No. 1 hit. “Backwoods”

vated about most everything. School bombings, like the Virginia Tech tragedy, make him aware of how fragile life is and how important family is. He writes most of his songs while he’s on the road, which allows him to come home and just spend time with his girls. Phil grew up poor in a hard-working, blue-collar Virginia town and knows the struggles and has developed the work ethics that come with that type of life. Although he currently doesn’t have to worry about choosing between buying milk or gas, he can relate to people in the situation. That lead to his fourth album and current hit “Prayer of a Common Man.” Phil and his music have evolved over the years, and there’s no doubt – the best is yet to come!
