ABOUT US At Community Renewal: Lifting Neighbourhoods Together, we want to get to know people living in Bingham, Magdalene and the Hays. We want to speak with you about your views about the neighbourhood, how you would like it to look and how you could get involved in making positive changes in the area. We also have a friendly team of specialists who can support with things that affect you like housing, money, community, family, health, work & more. Scottish Charity Number: SC043684

ACTIVITIES AND INFORMATION All the events in the summer programme are free of charge but must be booked in advance, either over the phone or through Eventbrite:

https://bit.ly/3yq3var There will be a maximum number of spaces for each session and these will be available on a first come, first served basis. Spaces are likely to fill up fast, so we encourage you to book early to make sure you get a spot. All morning sessions include a healthy snack.


ART BUDS: OUTDOOR ART

SPLASH PLAY

Community Renewal and Art Buds Collective are offering an outdoor art session for children (and their parents or carers) living in the area. The class will focus on creative processes inspired by nature, and will be led by Art Buds artists and educators. The class is free of charge.

This messy play session is a creative experience for children under 6 years old, and their parents/carers. The session will be inspired by water and will focus on engaging the children in active play. The class is free for families with children aged 2 – 6. Please bring a towel and swimwear!

GAME-A-THON

Sensory ART SESSION FOR KIDS

Calling all gamers! Community Renewal are hosting a gaming marathon and need young people aged 12-16 to join in. Whether you are a casual gamer looking to have a bit of fun, or going for a speed run record, come along for gaming on the Switch, PlayStation and Wii. This event is free of charge.

In this, artist-led session for children aged 5-12, we will experiment with different mark making techniques to create our own art materials for making collages. We will explore the qualities of materials and experiment with different techniques such as folding, tearing, scrunching and more! This class is free. Parents/carers must remain in the building.

COMMUNITY CINEMA: DEATH ON THE NILE

Community Renewal and St. Martin's Community Cinema are showing the family friendly, animated musical, Encanto. Join us at St. Martin's Parish Church, 4 Magdalene Drive. Admission is free but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Community Renewal and St. Martin's Community Cinema are showing the latest adaption of Agatha Christie's murder mystery - Death on the Nile. Join us at St. Martin's Parish Church, 4 Magdalene Drive. This film is suitable for 12+ years and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free.

FLOURISH: SILVER JEWELLERY MAKING Community Renewal and Flourish Jewellery Project are offering a silver jewellery making workshop for adults in the local area. This taster session is for beginners and will introduce you to traditional skills. You will create your very own silver ring or bangle to take home and treasure. SAT 16TH JULY | 11.00AM - 1.00PM

ANIMAL MAN: MINI ZOO Community Renewal and Animal Man are offering a truly unique and fascinating show grown from the love of animals, and reactions from people from every walk of life. Join us in the land of the Animal Man and experience close encounters with lizards, snakes, animals, birds, and insects from every corner of the world. Admission for the show is free. MEET THE AUTHOR: ABIGAIL KLEBOE When your dream of becoming a Golden Eagle for a day becomes a reality, would you take the journey to discover your true self? Local author, Abigail Kleboe, joins us to share her debut novel for older children, The Golden Feather; and tell us how she became a writer and the inspiration behind the book. STREET SOCCER Come to Bingham park to enjoy a casual football game in the Summer heat! As well as a traditional football match there will be a "Walking Football" game that is open to all ages and abilities. Join us for some competitive community building fun.

FRI 22ND JULY | 1.00PM - 4.00PM

VR EXPERIENCE We'll be taking a trip to The Realm VR in Gorgie for an experience unlike anything you've seen before. Join us for the opportunity to experience the very latest in Virtual Reality and computing technology. The trip is free of charge and aimed at young people aged 12-18. Bus pick up will be from the Community Renewal office. THURS 21ST JULY | 2.00PM - 5.00PM

MUSIC Workshop: Percussion Community Renewal and the Places for People Hub are offering a percussion workshop for all interested in music. No matter if you have played an instrument before or are brand new to music this workshop is for everyone and will teach you how to play percussion instruments in a group setting.
