This is the other side of the UK motor industry and Stoneleigh is the kit car scene’s showcase event. Here you’ll find nearly every serious kit car manufacturer If you’re camping overnight and we’re expecting lots of new launches. Among them, on Sunday make sure you make sure you have a look out for DNA, JMC, MEV, don’t miss The Herms Xmoor, Tribute, Race Kits and RPS... all with new cars playing in the Warwick Hall launched at the show. Elsewhere you’ll find sparkling from 7.30pm. new demonstrators and great displays from most of the industry’s top names. Also inside Stoneleigh’s extensive exhibition hall complex you’ll find hundreds of accessory stands, selling everything the car builder could want. Whether it’s a nut and bolt or a complete performance engine, you’re bound to be able to find it here. But if you don’t fancy building your own from scratch, then take a walk into the Cars For Sale hall (at the bottom of 6th Street, near Gate 5) where you’ll find a diverse array of cars up for sale, with prices to suit every pocket. Could this be your introduction to kit car Clubs form a vital part of the ownership? Stoneleigh experience. Head outside and you’ll find the vast Stoneleigh complex dominated by privately owned kit cars displayed on almost 100 different club stands. It’s this extraordinary spectacle that gives Stoneleigh its special atmosphere. If there was a kit made, then there will almost certainly be a club to support it and, if you’re looking for a kit car (new or old), the chances are you’ll find it here. With over 4000 cars expected, it’s going to be a bumper display. Outside you’ll also find lots more accessory stands (just outside the main halls) and Westfield Sports Cars will be putting on an amazing slalom experience in a dedicated area just off Avenue M. You can even book yourself a place in the passenger seat for a small fee, as the company’s hugely experienced test drivers put the cars through their paces. For rather muddier action, Dakar will be in full swing on the 4-wheel drive circuit. Once again, there are rides on offer here and with four seats, the whole family can enjoy a great experience. Finally, for those of you who make Stoneleigh a

weekend experience, the bars and restaurant will be open on both evenings. On Sunday evening, our magazine sponsor, Complete Kit Car, will host a live band, The Herms, to entertain you in the Warwick Hall, off 6th Street - just follow the noise! Racekits has been making single-seater race cars based on the Fiat Seicento for a 750MC race series, but the company is now offering its car, called the Falcon, as a track day car which can be built at home. NEW TRIBUTE News just in as we go to press is that Tribute Automotive will have something new for the show. In addition to the MX-5 based MX250 and Triumph Spitfire based A352 (shown below), the company will be launching a Toyota MR2 based panel kit at Stoneleigh. Based on the later Mk3 MR2, details are ultra hush, hush at the moment, so head to the stand to see what’s there!

RPS MGB BODYKIT This is a brand new company launched by Garry Hutton, who was one of the people behind the original GCS Hawke Morgan lookalike of the ’90s. His new company RPS will be launching an MGB based panel kits to restyle both roadster and GT versions of the MGB into a more aggressive period style racer. Using the later less-loved rubber bumper car as a donor, the front end now receives an all new one-piece GRP panel, with separate bonnet, while at the back the rear bumper is replaced with a new fibreglass item. The MG’s original doors and rear wing/bootlid are all left uncovered. A wide-arched version of the car is likely to follow in due course. Being a simple bolt-on conversion, the new RPS will not require IVA. WHERE TO FIND THEM

STONELEIGH NEWS NEW CAR LAUNCHES JMC OFFERS RADICAL BODYKIT This could possibly be the most radical new car at the show, and it’s a triumph of Anglo/French relations! Jean-Marie Courtault has designed a brand new all enveloping bodyshell for a standard Westfield chassis. The dramatic new styling can be retro fitted to a standard SEi Westfield, and even includes the original windscreen. We think it looks fantastic and can’t wait to see it in the flesh!

ROADRUNNER LAUNCHES NEW LM1 Here’s another brand new model for Stoneleigh. Roadrunner Racing is adding to its SR2 with a dedicated single-seater Le

XMOOR RIOT UPDATED

Mans style mid-engined track day racer. The all new LM1 features a mid-engined chassis designed to use some of the Mazda based componentry already tried and tested on the SR2. A fully enveloping Le Mans prototype style body has been designed for the car and will cover a mid-mounted Suzuki GSXR or Hayabusa bike engine. Don’t miss it.

Stoneleigh wouldn’t be the same without a new model from MEV and the company will be revealing is all new Replicar kit, which is inspired by the Aston Martin DB3. Based around components sourced from the Mazda MX-5 which MEV knows so well, it’ll be an intriguing mix of old meets new, and MEV’s first replica. The company will also be showing for the very first time the Mevster, it’s more practical incarnation of the stripped back Exocet. With a full windscreen and all new bodywork, it’s yet another creation from unstoppable force that is Stuart Mills.

This is the new owner of the Sylva Riot project and the company will be coming to Stoneleigh with a number of revisions to the core product and plans for a radical new model. An exciting and busy time ahead.

The NMS guys have a wealth of experience in all aspects of their business, so for a no nonsense, no bull answer to your chassis and engine tuning questions you could do worse by not speaking to them first. Aero Dynamix is a new and most welcome sponsor to the WSCC and are well-known in the kit car world for producing high quality lightweight carbon fibre parts for Seven type cars. Their product range covers cycle wings, aero screens, rear wheel arch protectors, half doors plus a range of carbon cloth and resins for DIY production of carbon parts. seen in any one place at the same time. In previous years we have managed to display in excess of 250 Westfields each day, so there is bound to be something that takes your fancy for a quick pic or to borrow an idea or two. Many of the club’s grass roots members can be found on or around our outdoor club stand and will be on hand to answer any WSCC questions. They will be highly visible in their WSCC branded ‘Pink T Shirts’. We welcome one and all to come and celebrate all that is Westfield with us. Take a stroll down ‘Westfield Avenue’ into our marquee enclosure where we will have on display a typical selection of Westfields such as you may find in your local WSCC area along with enthusiastic owners who will be glad to talk to you about the highs and lows of Westfield ownership.
