Awakening Why trample my life if a dream it is like. Shall I bed myself all day with wine. Awakened in sigh, that a joyful bird sings in blossom. What day is it I wonder, the breeze of Spring is what whispered. I wined my glass once again, and sing through the moon shine bright

Awakening For Orchestra
This Work was composed during my final year in college as one of the bachelor degree program. Inspired by the poem of Li, Tai-Po, an influential Chinese poet from Tang Dynasty, it describes the moment of life when one felt lost and despaired, yet sought to break through. Through music as an outlet, one embraces life again with hope. The composition, following the three stanzas of the original poem, consists of three independent but integrated sections. Besides its pure musical sense, the central issue of the piece resides in the conflict the poet’s sentiments and the reality. Awakening was chosen to premiered during 《Asain Music Festival 2003 in Tokyo》 by Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and was awarded Chang-Hui Hsu Memorial Prize of Asian Composers League (ACL) which aims at encouraging composers in the Asia-Pacific region to compose music rooted upon Asia-Pacific traditions.
