17.01.2007: The USA defeated Haiti, while Guatemala held the hosts Panama to a tie in the opening matches of the 2007 CONCACAF Under-20 Final Round Qualification Group A at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City. Three goals by Andre Akpan and another from Anthony Wallace led the USA (1-0-0, 3 Points) to a 4:1 victory over Haiti (0-1-0, 0 Points) in the first game. In the other encounter, Guatemala (0-0-1, 1 Point) jumped out to a 1:0 lead after an own goal scored by Panama’s Luis Ovalle in the opening two minutes, but Nelson Barahona got the equaliser for Panama (0-0-1, 1 Point) in the 65th minute for the 1:1 final score. PANAMA DEFEATS HAITI; GUATEMALA HOLDS USA TO A DRAW 19.01.2007: The hosts, Panama defeated Haiti, while Guatemala held the USA to a draw at the 2007 CONCACAF Under-20 Final Round Qualification Group A at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City. Josue Jafeth Brown scored twice and Nelson Barahona added another for Panama (1-0-1, 4 Points), while Roberts Saintilus and Etienne Yveson had the only goals for Haiti (0-2-0, 0 Points) in the 3:2 loss. In an earlier game, Guatemala (0-0-2, 2 Points) played the USA (1-0-1, 4 Points) to a scoreless draw. This is also the first time since 1964 that the stars & stripes do not defeat the chapines in a CONCACAF Youth Tournament or U-20 Qualification match ending a seven-game winning streak.

21.01.2007: The USA and the hosts, Panama progressed to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup Canada 2007 after finishing first and second, respectively, at the CONCACAF U-20 Final Round Qualification Group A at Panama City’s Estadio Rommel Fernández. The USA (2-0-1, 7 Points) and Panama (1-1-1, 4 Points) secured their places to the FIFA event without even stepping to the field because in an earlier encounter, Haiti (1-2-0, 3 Points) eliminated Guatemala (0-1-2, 2 Points) by a score of 2:0. After their qualification, the stars & stripes claimed first-place in Group A by defeating the canaleros 5:0.
