The Saint & Sinner is a new bespoke, and vibrant pub for St Albans. Working with our client we have transformed a previous Nationwide building society branch into a stylish pub and restaurant bursting with charm and historical features.

Built in the 1760’s, previously described as a “country house in town”, The Saint & Sinner resides in the grade II listed building that was once home to John Osborn – three times mayor of St Albans. Now reimagined as the ultimate destination venue, with character in abundance, perfect at any time of day or evening.

The concept of the pub has been based on the new name and branding that we created, 'The Saint & Sinner', reflecting the dual aspects of the location. During the day, the 'Saint' aspect of the pub comes into its own, with customers ordering food in a light-hearted and airy environment. 'Saint' is also a nod to the city of St. Albans, and its history. By night, the 'Sinner' aspect is shown, with a more drinks-based "high energy" atmosphere.

The name and branding influence the finishes inside, with a dark and moody bar area being where the sinners hangout – showcasing red neon lighting and feature light fittings to help create a wicked mood. Throughout the site we used reclaimed and upcycled church memorabilia, from alters, to artwork, chairs to pews, all were incorporated to add authenticity to the dressing and finishing touches. In the lighter cocktail bar area more angelic pieces have been chosen along with specialist artwork depicting the Virgin Mary, which all pull through the lighter and airier - saintly vibes.

Both saint and sinner areas are completed with decadent traditional dressings – heavy swagged curtains, rich fabrics, bold patterns and faux planting. The whole pub oozes understated elegance which the beautiful old building laps up. A far cry from its previous use as a building society branch!

The private dining room, also known as The Chamber, is on the first floor giving our client flexibility to host conferences, dinner parties or special occasions. This was an essential functional element of the pubs design and gives another reason to visit by attracting guests looking for a more personal and intimate experience.

Now, this new pub offers St. Albans and surrounding areas residents’ food and drink –craft beers, cocktails, brunch favourites, lunch classics, artisan pizza and Sunday roasts.

The pub is also complimented by a new courtyard, as well as, private party / dining / meeting rooms, shuffleboard games … and when the lights go down, the tempo goes up! thesaintandsinner.co.uk

The Last Judgment

Settle in with friends, feast on fantastic food and sip on a signature cocktail at The Last Judgment on Chancery Lane in London.

The iconic site previously known as The Knights Templar has been given a fresh new look as well as a new name too, The Last Judgment.

The refurbishment offered an opportunity to rebrand the historic pub and now every corner tells a story.

At ground floor, the historic features have been gilded, with the intricate ceiling and panel details brought to life utilising rich golds and gloss paint finishes, whilst the existing timber details have been brought back to life to pop out from the paintwork with their rich chestnut hue. The original timber bar back fitting is the ultimate centrepiece for this London pub, we made minor adaptions to incorporate brass elements, lighting and the new branding, whilst also updating the operational requirement to suit our client’s needs for the pubs new offering. Throughout the ground floor traditional furniture and lighting pieces have been used to be sympathetic to the building’s historical nature with some contemporary sofa style fixed seating added by the windows. To make the most of the grand ceiling heights faux trees stand proudly on poseur height drinks platforms.

At first floor the dining area laps up the bold reflective leathers, and rich luxurious velvets. Heavy curtains help to create bookable dining areas and again the historic timber work is given a chance to sing within its surroundings, contrasting against inky glosses and mossy greens.

Bursting with character, flavour and a vibrant atmosphere, The Last Judgment has undergone an incredible transformation. thelastjudgment.co.uk

The best beer garden in the Peak District just got better!

Set in Grindleford within the rolling hills of the Peak District National Park, The Maynard offers accommodation, bar areas, a restaurant and an incredible terrace and garden.

Best of all, each spot in The Maynard’s beautiful garden is guaranteed a breath-taking view over Hope Valley.

An integral part of the gardens new design is the bench seating which has been incorporated into new planter boxes, these help to create informal screens between dining areas and naturally form more intimate spaces whilst still giving the flexibility to be able to service large group bookings.

The striking views over the Peak District coupled with the stylish outdoor furnishings make The Maynard gardens an exceptional choice for al fresco dining or unwinding with a drink in the sunshine.

The Crown

School Road, Chistlehurst, BR7 5PQ

Design | Build | Brand | Furnish

A boutique hotel and restaurant located in in the leafy London Borough of Bromley.

The building, which dates back to 1832, has been restored beautifully, with care taken to retain its unique character while introducing a stylish look and feel.

Guests can relax in one of seven newly refurbished bedrooms, some with private balconies offering stunning views over Chislehurst Common.

Each of the en-suite rooms has everything needed to ensure a comfortable stay, with eclectic furniture, artwork and styling, being paired with velvet light shades, quilted throws, strong floral prints and feature tiles.

Downstairs, the restaurant and bar provide an appealing environment for clientele and hotel guests, along with a great food and drinks offer.

Exposed bricks contrast against feature planting and the brass bar top, alongside the continuation of floral prints. Bookable booths have been added alongside sections of comfortable fixed seating, with a mixture of modern furniture in velvets and leather. Simple globe lighting has been used throughout with an abundance of natural light also spilling in from the existing windows, new patio doors and roof lantern. The new roof lantern is adorned with planting which alludes to an orangery style atmosphere.

Externally a courtyard garden makes way for summer drinks and dining, with the new addition of a garden bar to help ease the pressure in the warmer months and a pergola offering respite from the sun.

A wonderful old building has been given a new lease of life with this significant refurbishment.

is a long-standing community pub with all the character and quirks you would expect from

The High Corner Inn

This traditional countryside pub was built centuries ago and has the original oldeworlde-style you would expect of an ancient pub, wrapped up in a blanket of wisteria.

Step inside to be greeted by traditional timber beam work and columns, and old brick work. Teals, greens and crimsons now adorn the walls creating a warm palette that pulls through the colours from the fabrics and wallpapers. Natural finishes and reclaimed timber have been used to give an effortless nod to the New Forest.

The High Corner Inn has two open fireplaces; one in the bar and one in the dining area; both are skirted by high back, winged armchairs and Chesterfield sofas which bring traditional flair to the rooms. There’s something mesmerising about a fireplace in a pub: sitting on a comfortable sofa watching the gentle flicker of flames can’t help but create a relaxed atmosphere.

The function room, known as The Whitmore, has an entirely new appearance beautified with the presence of feature chairs and tables. It has its own bar and new bifold doors which open out onto the large, paved patio.

Outside, the spacious beer garden is shaded by fringed parasols and dotted with flower beds. It’s an idyllic spot where guests can sip a pint from the new transitional bar whilst immersed in a view of greenery, flowers and trees. Conveying the quality of the brand from the outside is new signage and decorative lighting – both catch your eye as you pass the building, and the new external lighting makes the garden useable day and night.

As stated in its name, this picturesque pub is also an Inn – it has seven ensuite bedrooms which have been renovated using dusky, soft paint colours, wall panelling and have been decorated with ornate heritage artwork and traditional fabric curtains.

This pub now has a perfect combination of style and warmth creating a welcoming and memorable experience once more for guests to relax and unwind.
