THE
B RIEF Ragdale Hall are constantly reinvesting to improve the spa experience. Although heritage is important, so is keeping up with the times and changing market expectations. In February 2020 a project to construct the new Twilight Bar commenced, the bar needed to appeal to the next generation of spa goers who like sophisticated venues with a glamourous drink’s menu. The brief was to create an elegant cocktail lounge to replace the unused Mind Gym, as well as transforming the adjoining garden with a beautiful design that radiates tranquillity. It was imperative that the construction phase of the lounge did not impact on the guest experience. The lounge needed to sit comfortably with the Ragdale brand but also move the spa forward with some innovation, and most importantly it needed to be a space that impressed.

THE
G A RDEN The garden has been restored and has plenty of places to hideaway. The new landscaping including the addition of a bespoke water feature make it a really special place to be. Carefully arranged planters and pots of greenery fill it with colour and create pockets of privacy. As per the brief, Ragdale wanted the Twilight Lounge to tie in the sites different architectural styles, so, the colour of the existing garden room was changed to match the oxidised copper finish of the new extension. Every tree, shrub and flower has been lovingly selected to suit Ragdale’s Victorian country garden style, which in turn transformed the garden into a botanical terrace that raises the Spa’s profile. It’s the perfect place to meet friends and family or just enjoy a relaxing drink.
Removed a large pond to create the nice patio area.

THE
T WILIG HT LOUNG E Today, the new Twilight Bar is relaxed and stylish with comfortable seating and luxurious fixtures and fittings. It provides a new space to unwind in total peace and tranquillity with fantastic surroundings. The moody, dramatic lighting in the lounge create a sense of intrigue and luxe sophistication and forms the perfect backdrop for accent pieces such as brass pole screens, gold scalloped tiles, fringed pendant lighting and furniture in mix of rich blush, burnt oranges, deep green and turmeric shades pulled together seamlessly with a subtle chanel-esque patterned fabrics and feature wallpaper. The layers of detailing, from piping on the furniture, to feature ceiling mouldings, bespoke fixed seating, help to build a dramatic and memorable space to overload and wow the senses. Initially, the room lacked architectural character and charm, but the installation of the feature metal screens, bifold windows, the eye-catching bar, classic wall panelling, and ceiling detailing is impactful and adds layers of interest to the room to create a beautiful space to feel invigorated.

TRUST - believe in the reliability, truth, or ability of something or someone. When planning our cocktail bar, Richard Wilson, MD of Concorde BGW said ‘‘trust me and my team to deliver what you want, on time and within budget.” This was not an easy statement to believe but I am delighted to say it was true. We now have the most beautiful space that was delivered just as promised; not quite on time, but then we did have a little ‘down tools lockdown’ in the middle of the project. This did not deter the team and our vision became real just as we had imagined. Allison Garner Operations Manager, Ragdale Hall Spa
