Greetings,

In DP, we have been busy since June getting seniors prepared and ready for University. They are facing harder decisions about their college list than the previous years, but I know they will choose wisely, and with their parents’ involvement, they will be successful in this process. Starting off the school year with students on campus has been wonderful. A big welcome to our returning students and to the new students joining Concordian. I have heard several students appreciating the fact that we are in Thailand where we have not been overloaded with the pandemic and have been able to carry on a fairly ‘normal’ life. It is nice to hear students appreciating what we tend to take for granted. Covid, though, has done that. It has made us all reflect and reevaluate what is important to us and to value relationships and other aspects of our lives.

Please always feel welcome to stop by and see us. We welcome your visit, and in partnership with you, we are always ready to support students to reach their highest potential and to grow toward being happy well-adjusted young adults.

Just a couple of months ago our school graduated the 11th batch of students. Dr. Tresa Virankabutra Concordian alumni are now represented, or Career & College Counseling Director/ have been represented, in many prestigious DP Counselor universities around the world. We are proud of every student and their accomplishments.

Counseling Corner

Welcome Concordian students and families! We are excited to get started on another great school year! Concordian counselors are here to help students navigate through the wonderful and sometimes challenging secondary school years. This year we welcome 17 new students, including returning students re-joining the MYP. We enjoyed meeting and getting to know them during new student and parent orientation, which served to assist all new students through this transition. To support the well-being and overall development of all students, the MYP counseling services include, but are not limited to, individual and small group counseling, consultations with parents and teachers, crisis intervention, coordination with outside agencies, and classroom counseling during L and N blocks. This year we are pleased to have Mr. Matthew join the MYP Counseling Department as our new MYP Counseling Intern. Matt is an alumni of CIS. After completing an internship here several years ago, obtaining his Bachelor’s degree, earning a certificate in Exchange Programs from Germany, and working for a Thai-Australian cultural exchange program, Matthew was inspired to work as a school counselor. He joins us after completing his Master’s degree in Psychology in Scotland. We look forward to an exciting year working with students, teachers, and parents. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. 11
