Grade 6 Week Without Walls Exploring Khao Yai
Let’s journey back to the G6 WWWs, on November 14th-17th, 2023, where our school traded the city buzz of Bangkok for the serene landscapes of Khao Yai. Throughout this week, G6 students Hannah, Kin, and Namo will be our guides, sharing their highlights. Day 1 at Uncle Chris Farm brought a mix of excitement and nerves, especially during a memorable hike. Day 2 immersed us in the captivating Life Art Exhibition at Burg Barn Buri, showcasing nature-inspired art and fun activities.
The last days at Green Me Farm and the EGAT Learning Center taught us about sustainability. Join us as we
hear from Hannah, Kin, and Namo about the laughter, learning, and friendships that made this G6 WWW week truly unforgettable.
Day 1: Uncle Chris Farm:
We were all excited because this day we left Bangkok to go to Khao Yai for G6 WWW! I’m sure most of us were nervous too, and so was I. Once we arrived at Uncle Chris Farm, we all felt kind of tortured. We went hiking up a hill, and it was really scary because the path was narrow and steep. However, the bugs and heat tested our strength, turning the experience into a valuable lesson about realizing what we are capable of doing
and being in the middle of real nature. When we finally made it out of the hike, we were all exhausted! We also made water filters and experimented with rocks, sand, and cotton to filter water, learning that anyone can do it with natural materials. Afterwards, we got into the bus and drove to the Vivace Resort. That night, we had dinner and then played some board games, and we got to practice our performances for the upcoming performance night. Before we went to our rooms, we got some announcements from Ms. Tashia about the activities for the next day. I had fun with my roommates; we played some games that night. We were very excited for the next day.
The Life Art exhibition at Burg Barn Buri was a day filled with activities and lessons about the types of art. The nature-inspired art pieces were stunning and gave a special point of view on the beauty of nature. The activities were a great way to learn and make different brand products in a fun and interactive way. The food was delicious, as well as the refreshments, and the dishwashing gave us a little activity to do for our group so the place could be kept clean and tidy. The live music was the cherry on top; it provided joy and created a relaxing atmosphere. Some students also volunteered to play the instruments. Looking back on the week, it’s certain that the Life Art Exhibition was a highlight, and it’s an event that I’ll remember for a long time to come.
Green Me showed us how to tie-dye and showcased their fruits and vegetables. Their compost was made out of organic materials that do no harm to the earth, and that made me see the magic of nature and how every vegetable that we eat comes from the hard work of many people. We then went to EGAT to learn about sustainable sources of power and how it helps the planet. We also learned about what sources countries in ASEAN used. On our last day, there was football, swimming, and board games. Football was the best part, led by Coach Nui. After all the fun at the resort, we checked out of the hotel and headed for Midwinter. While on the bus, we sang and played games. The food at Midwinter was really nice, and we all had a great time. On the way back to school, we watched Howl’s Moving Castle and sang a few more songs.
learned many things. New experiences like hiking, washing dishes, learning about energy at the EGAT center, and doing tie-dye at Green Me Farm added to the adventure. The best part was the performance! We laughed at each other’s funny skits, and we had so much fun. Overall, that was DEFINITELY one of the best weeks of the school year because we all got to bond with each other and with nature.
