Welcome back from the Middle School Student Government

t’s an honor for all 15 of us (Term, Ivy, Sureen, Mungbean, Keit, Don, Dol, Hannah, Kao, Drake, Mona, Pisa, Porsche, Neala, Peang-Or) to be part of the MSSG. We will dedicate our time, effort, and hardwork in order to represent the 2024-2025 Middle School student body. For the first time in Concordian, the MSSG is divided into three separate committees: Media, Events and Advocacy, in which each committee is led by a Vice-President. Moreover, there will be a president (Term) who will oversee and help with all of the MSSG’s work.

First of all, the Advocacy team, led by Mungbean (along with Keit, Don, and Porsche), will play a pivotal role in seeking out ideas, suggestions, and wants from the student body. This can be done with various methods, such as sending out Google forms to keep track of the student body’s wants and interests, or simply letting an MSSG member receive feedback from their peers on a daily basis. While the media and events team have existed in the MSSG for the past few years, the advocacy has been recently added to the student government due to the fact

that it is our responsibility and duty to take actions and make changes that are based upon student wants. Therefore, the Advocacy committee can make sure that the opinions within the student body will be met.

Secondly, the Events team, led by Sureen (along with Drake, Hannah, Peang-Or, Neala, and Mona) will take the lead in scheduling, organizing, planning and executing a variety of events aimed at enhancing student engagement and school spirit. This committee will focus on planning large-scale and exciting events, ensuring that students have opportunities to connect with each other and enjoy their time at school.

The Events team will gather input from the student body through the surveys and forms from the Advocacy team, ensuring that the events reflect the interests of the school community. By creating a balanced calendar of events, the team will not only bring students together but also create lasting memories and a more vibrant campus experience.

Last but not least, the Media team, led by Ivy (along with Kao, Pisa, and Dol) will be promoting events and updating the student body on the MSSG’s actions. This will be done by sending out posters and flyers which will be attached in the morning announcements, weekly assemblies, and/or the bulletin boards all over our school. Therefore, the media team is playing a crucial role in advertising MSSG activities, communicating with newsletters, and most importantly capturing memorable moments during countless events that are yet to come to life in this school year.

As the middle school student government, we will ensure that this year will be filled with positive change, thrilling events, and memorable moments. With 3 crucial committees and 15 students representing their peers and giving back to their beloved community, the MSSG are more than ready to create an extraordinary school year for the student body to remember.
