I am pleasantly surprised to learn about the rich culture Thailand has and each day I have opportunities to learn more about it. I am also pleased that Concordian has so many Thai students, support staff and teachers and how important and prominent Thai culture is here at school. Mr. Luke Watson MYP Computer Science & Design The one thing I am really impressed and still learning about Thailand is the “Sabai Sabai spirit in the Thai culture. The slow-path of lifestyle has made it more relaxing and enjoyable. Also, I really appreciate the convenience of the city and the diversity of nature in the country. Ms. Ali Wang MYP Learning Inclusion When I first got here, I was amazed by the nice food smells, the smiles, and the cheerful atmosphere of Bangkok. I was surprised how much the atmosphere changes during the day. I love walking in the sois around my house in the very early morning and see people giving alms to the monks. There is such a spiritual and calm atmosphere during that time of the day, hours before the buzz of the work day starts. Dr. Claudia Moretto MYP/DP Math Some may find it interesting to hear that growing up I was 100% determined not to be a teacher. I saw all the hard work and effort my mother put into her job every day and thought it was the most difficult job in the world. Yet what I did not see, what I did not even consider, was the satisfaction and happiness I would experience almost daily in helping others learn and grow. It is a profession where I am always learning, exploring, and discovering new things. Now, being here at Concordian, I cannot wait to experience all the school, the students and Thailand has to offer, and I could not be more excited to be a teacher. An interesting (and somewhat unexpected) aspect about me is that I am very creative and adventurous. I love discovering new places, ideas, and ways of thinking or doing. This impacts my teaching as I continuously try to use creative methods so students can learn through active play. Also, in being adventurous, I am always ready to try new activities and explore new ideas. I love to share ideas and learn about people! I hope to connect with many of you and find out what we may have in common. Ms. Diane Coon MYP PHE

As a first-timer in Thailand, I am experiencing every day why it is called the Land of Smiles. Everyone has been welcoming me with warmth and hospitality. My experience at Concordian, so far, has been like a cool summer breeze. I am enjoying my time with all my groups, because my students are a delight to teach. I love building positive relationships with my students and instil in them a passion for learning - I just happen to use Maths as a vehicle :-) I feel that this year is going to be a great year in general. Mr. Rafael Garcia Abreu MYP/DP Math

What surprises me most about Thailand is all of the delicious food! Everywhere I turn I see something that I want to taste. All I need to do is walk out of my apartment complex and I am greeted with carts of fruit, vegetables, fried chicken, and many other dishes I have never seen before. Fortunately, if I am too tired to walk outside, I could order anything I am craving right to my lobby. Thank you Grab and foodpanda!:) I am so excited to eat my way around Thailand!
