Dear Concordians,
This year the English department organised and ran the second edition of the Speak! Competition, a public speaking event aimed at showcasing our students' oratory skills. All the candidates underwent an audition process and were vetted by a panel of 5 judges. Then they spent over 2 weeks editing, refining, honing, polishing and, finally, perfecting their speeches.
They attended individual practice sessions and even participated in the English Public Speaking CMA after school-- all in an effort to provide our community with their best possible performance. And what a performance that was! The speakers regaled us with authentic and heart-felt speeches, with emotional performances, and with our fair share of both anticipation and trepidation.
We couldn't be more proud of our students, and on behalf of the entire English department, I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one of you again! We teachers may put in all the work in the world to support you, but ultimately the success of an event like this rests on your shoulders, and you guys carried it like giants. Thank you!
Admiringly, Mr.
Alessio
