uang Prabang is a fascinating ancient city located in northern Laos. Our Grade 9 and Grade 10 students spent an amazing week there from November 9 to November 13. The theme of the trip was “Preserving Tradition in a Globalized World” and included fun hands-on activities like learning how to cook incredible Laos food and produce and dye Laos fabrics, according to ancient Laos tradition. There was also a lot of history and culture that included visits to museums, the Royal Palace and famous Luang Prabang Buddhist temples. For the trip, students were placed into nine different groups and they all competed in an “Amazing Race” activity. In their groups, the students were given different tasks throughout the trip so they could collect evidence and learn about the extent that Laos is managing to preserve its ancient traditions despite being a part of an increasingly globalized world. Ultimately, on the last day they all created and shared incredible videos of their experiences throughout the trip. One of the many highlights of the trip was a service trip to a local orphanage where our students helped lead fun and engaging activities with the students there.
