MOVE-IN DAY WELCOME HOME!

EH

We understand that, while exciting, moving can also be a very stressful time. Our staff is here to make your experience as convenient and easy as possible! If there is anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask and be sure to check the back of this page for some timesaving ideas to make your move go smoother. You will be notified in advance of the date and time you may begin to move in. On that day, please allow for time to complete the following: •

Pick up your fob and keys.

Complete any remaining paperwork.

Pay any remaining rent and any other monies due as required by the Lease.

Provide any missing documentation as required by the Lease.

Complete a walk-through inspection of the apartment. You will be given a move-in check to complete. Please make sure this checklist is returned to the Rental Office within 72 hours. This form is placed in your file and is used to assess the apartment’s condition currently and as a comparison upon move-out. Failure to return this form will indicate that the apartment had no deficiencies at the time of move-in.

Please remember the following while moving in: 1.

Instruct movers to use caution when bringing your belongings in through the halls and elevators. Any damages to the common areas are chargeable to you.

2. Do not park on the grass, sidewalk areas, fire lanes, or restricted parking spots. 3. Promptly clean all debris left in the walkways, buildings, and elevator because of your moving.

MOVING TIPS

EH

1. Arrange items by room. Label or color code the sides of your boxes with the contents and what room they’ll be going into. Number your boxes to ensure nothing gets left behind and use number series for the same type of items (e.g., Books 1 of 5).

2. Work smarter, not harder! Clear bags are helpful for quickly identifying items like phone chargers, tools, and screws or fixtures for furniture items. Use your phone’s camera to take photos of how various electronics are connected so you can easily reference how the wires are configured.

3. Organize your essentials. During the move, keep your essentials (toiletries, medication, change of clothes, wallet, etc.) in a weekender like you’re going on vacation. This makes it easier to access everything you may need while you’re between places.

4. Embrace your address. A few weeks before your move, take about 20 minutes to complete a change of address form and forward your mail. Don’t forget to change your billing and mailing address for things like credit cards, cell phone bills, voter registration, and subscription services.

5. Giveyourself an extra day. Moving can be stressful and there are often extra tasks to complete, even if you think you’re finished. Try to schedule an extra day off after move day clean out your former and new home, stock your kitchen, and explore the area and amenities.

6. Plan ahead. Packing to move can be a lot of work so start early, packing items not regularly used ahead of time. Pick up the following supplies before you begin: • • • •

Boxes of different sizes (you will be moving a lot of boxes – don’t make too heavy!) Packing tape Markers or other preferred labeling system Box cutter
