SCHEMATIC DESIGN
B
From a site planning level I want connect the old building with the new building for students and staff to travel easier. So I divide the building into two parts by two mian functions. First part is office and lab functions. The second part is clinical . Offices and labs connects with the old building and the clinical services are at the other end of the building because it requires better sun light.

THE MASSING DESIGN STRATEGY:
Introducing landscape into the building body
[01] SITE
[02] COMPLETE MASS
Building site is between residential area and medical area The design starts by filling the whole site with a compact architectural mass.
B [03] SUBTRACTION
[04] SET BACK
A simple operation of volume subtraction carves out an urban patio.
The volume of the ground floor have been cut off to give way to pedestrian.

[05] SCENIC BACKDROP
[06] URBAN PARK
The subtracted volume are recomposed in an curve shape architectural body for better view.
The urban patio have been turn into a park which connects the building with other urban area.
B [07] CONNECTION
[08] SKYLINE
An overpass have been placed to connect the new building with the old building.
The new building creates an appropriate urban skyline which is friendly to the surrounding area.
