THE AFGHAN BAND MYSTERY New Method

The well known Afghan Band Trick very much improved, and so good that Blackstone and other leading performers are using it.

A band of bright red fabric is shown. The performer rips it in two lengthwise, thus securing the natural result—two separate loops. Now for the puzzling part.

One of the two loops is again ripped, and again the same result, but this time THE TWO LOOPS ARE LINKED WITHIN EACH OTHER. In conclusion, the remaining loop is ripped in the very same fashion, the result this time being but one loop just twice the size of the other bands.

This superior method will puzzle the most skeptical, including the fellow tihat knows the old method with the three strips of paper. Bear in mind that the three different effects are created from the first single band. There is no waste of time in presentation as the bands are ripped, not cut.

THE KELLAR STRING TRICK

The secret of this famous string trick was for years a closely guarded secret of the Great Kellar. It unquestionably is the most baffling trick of the kind ever devised, and Prof. Kellar delighted in fooling magicians with it.

A piece of common string about a yard long is handed to a spectator, who measures its exact length with a ruler. Then the performer, showing his hands to be empty, takes the string and loops it several times between his fingers. . The spectator now cuts the string between the loops with a pair of scissors and the performer separates his hands and shows the two halves of the cut string hanging down, one in each hand. Again the hands are brought together, and the string looped as before.

Slowly drawing out one end of the strkig, it is finally pulled completely away.

FULLY RESTORED, and is measured and found to be its original length.

THE NEW VANISHING WAND

The very latest Vanishing Wand, and highly recommended as: an opening effect.

In this superior version of the trick, no envelopes are employed for the disappearance and subsequent reproduction of the wand, the operation being exceedingly clean «at and simple to perform.

X'he conjurer picks up his wand and raps it smartly against the table, or drops it on the floor to prove its solidity. Then he takes a piece of ordinary newspaper and wraps tEhe wand therein. There is positively no exchange, body work, or similiar artifices employed. A spectator may feel the, parcel to satisfy himself that the wand is really wrapped in the paper, after which the performer tears the paper again and again, and throws the pieces aside—the wand has vanished. Reaching into his vest pocket, he slowly draws forth the missing wand, or it may be produced' from a pocket book, or by any other well known method.

A downright novelty in the magical production of a silk handkerchief, and thoroughly practical. Do not confuse with similiar effects that have been on the market from time to time, as "Silk o' the Flame" is an original conception by Donald Holmes.

Lighting a candle which stands in readiness in a candlestick upon the table, the conjurer shows both hands to be entirely empty; then passes his right hand, with the palm towards audience, up behind the candle and over the flame, making a pinching movement with the fingers. He repeats this operation several times, when suddenly a silk handkerchief appears at the finger tips, as the hand passes over the candle, seemingly materializing in the vei*y flame itself. The effect is startling, mysterious, and very clean cut.

Good in connection with any trick in which a silk handkerchief is magically produced, and has the added advantage that it involves no palming or body load. The candle can be freely shown on all sides before and after the production, nothing being concealed on the back as in the older methods. Can be performed under the very eyes of the audience and demands no particular skill.

THE MULTIPLYING MONEY TRAY

Often presented as a sequel to the popular Shower of Money Trick. The conjurer ÂŤomes forward with a handsome tray, containing twelve half dollars, which are careinlly counted by one of the spectators. Spectator is, requested to count off five of these coins for the performer's use, the balance of seven coins being poured from t v e tray into the spectator's joined hands, or into a borrowed hat. The five coins are then caused to vanish from the performer's hands, and upon the spectator again counting the coins in his hands, or the hat, he finds that he now holds twelve, instead of seven.

THE NEW ROPES AND RINGS TRICK

A brand new idea in this line, and not to be confounded with the old methods.

The trick is1 performed with two long pieces of sash cord, or tapes, and three perfectly solid rings of large size. When the audience has thoroughly inspected these articles to their satisfaction, the conjurer passes both cords through one of the rings.

Particular attention is called to the fact that the cords are passed through the ring SEPAR A.TELY. two different spectators each threading one cord if desired. This ring having been secured with a double knot, the second ring is threaded on to ihe cords from one pair of ends, and the last ring from the other ends. The cords are finally carried down the sleeves of a coat, when another knot having been tied, the ends are handed to two gentlemen, with the request that they pull against each other.

Instantly the cords are pulled straight and free, from knots, the rings and coat being left in the hands of the conjurer. Everything in conclusion may be left for inspection.
