WHO WE ARE We are the only organization in Canada serving the specific needs of adults with Type 1 diabetes - offering porgrams, resources and support.
MISSION To foster a community of people living with Type 1 diabetes through peer-based experiential diabetes education, physical activity and outdoor adventure pursuits so that they may inspire one another to live life without limits.
VISION
A community of healthy, active, and educated adults living with Type 1 diabetes who are supported and engaged in diabetes self-management.
WHAT WE DO
We create a culture of support and engagement in diabetes self-management through peer-based experiental diabetes education, physical activity and outdoor adventure pursuits. CIM’s main objectives are to:
Create experiential learning opportunities to enhance self-management strategies of adults living with Type 1 diabetes.
Improve access to outdoor recreation and physical activities for adults living with Type 1 diabetes.
Build and maintain a community of individuals who inspire one another to live life without limits.
Assist people with Type 1 diabetes in gathering the tools they need to overcome the challenges they face.
Help people achieve success on their own terms. 3

CIM’s community network is composed of adults and young adults with Type 1 diabetes who make up the Active Diabetes Community. CIM COMMUNITY: THE STATS The Situation in North America: It is estimated that over 2.7 adults live with Type 1 diabetes. Connected in Motion aspires to connect with all of them. Rates of diabetes are increasing by 3-5% each year. Education, resources and support for Type 1 diabetes are overwhelmingly child-focused. CIM maintains ongoing communications with a significant number of adults with Type 1 diabetes, their friends, families, doctors, specialists, clinicians, pharmacists and pharmaceutical representatives amongothers in Canada and abroad. Community is at our core.
