Fun, Free and Fascinating Learning for the Third Sector in North & Mid Wales A Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF) Project organised by Unison Cymru Wales

Could your members benefit from building the skills of their staff & volunteers? Connecting Learners is here to help. We work with expert providers to deliver bespoke, innovative workshops and training courses for a range of Third Sector organisations and their people. Our focus is on improving the Essential Skills of literacy, application of number and basic computer and internet skills as well as providing opportunities for people to improve their communication skills and confidence. Our goal is to help to create a culture of learning across the sector.

Here are a few examples of Connecting Learners’ work •

Running “Connecting with Computers” and “Connecting with the Internet” courses for Cartrefi Cymru staff in partnership with Coleg Menai

Designing and delivering “Knowing Me, Knowing You” communication skills courses for organisations including Cartrefi Cymru and North Wales Housing, in partnership with Newman Training Associates

Creating a new partnership with LearnDirect to offer e-learning courses to our learners to help them continue their learning journey

Pioneering the use of social networking to support lifelong learners through our site Connected Learners Cymru

Help your member organisations to get involved You can help your member organisations to access Connecting Learners by including information about the project in your publications and websites and asking us to come to your meetings and events, speak and present about our project and improving skills.

Who can benefit from Connecting Learners? Connecting Learners is here specifically for everyone working or volunteering in the Third Sector. We don’t work directly with service users, though improving the skills and confidence of the workforce can have wonderful knock-on benefits. Unison also organises similar projects covering health and local government employers across Wales and there are similar WULF projects organised by other unions covering a range of private sector employers.
