he Oregon NW Community Connection Magazine is for readers from ages 25+. It is a quarterly business and rural events magazine. Its articles, events and businesses are in the area shown on the map (page 4). This magazine provides a wholesome format for readers and advertisers. People won't be embarassed when someone sees this magazine on their coffee table.

Distribution

We circulate 11,000 magazines to a variety of business types—restaurants, banks, doctor’s offices, hospitals, veterinary offices, libraries, grocery stores, barbershops, boutiques’, beauty shops, automotive shops, tire shops, hospitals, our advertisers, etc.—throughout Eugene and Springfield. We drop 10-200 copies (the quantity dropped is based on the reader traffic).

Demographics GENERAL OVERVIEW

The cities are: Coos County—Coos Bay, Lakeside, North Bend; Douglas County—Drain, Elkton, Reedsport; Lane County—Creswell, Coburg, Cottage Grove, Florence, Junction City, Oakridge, Veneta; Lincoln County—Depot Bay, Lincoln City, Newport, Toledo, Waldport, Yachats; Linn County— Brownsville, Halsey, Harrisburg, Lebanon, and Sweet Home.

We place 8,000 copies in the south Willamette Valley and 3,000 copies on the coast. In the valley we saturate Junction City, Harrisburg, Monroe, Coburg, Veneta, Elmira, Creswell, Cottage Grove and Oakridge— where there are 12,788 households. In this area we deliver approximately 7,000 copies. (We take the other 1,000 copies and ‘plant’ them in the other valley communities such as Sweet Home, Lebanon, Pleasant Hill, and others.) On the coast we are leaving copies in the towns from Coos Bay to Lincoln City, with a primary emphasis on Coos Bay, Waldport and Newport. Overall We have a 96.5% acceptance of our magazines (500 returns/11,000 gross). Even if we minus the returns, this means that more than 52% of the targeted households have a copy of the Oregon NW Community Connection Magazine! Here’s another fact: Readers take our magazine for business stories and, because of its rural quarterly event schedule, keep it on their coffee table for an entire 90 days. Some readers even collect each edition. Obviously, the longer a publication stays in the home, the greater the benefit to the advertiser. Few magazines offer this value. Any ad placed in our magazine will have opportunity to be viewed repeatedly (multiple exposures) without any additional cost to the advertiser. All the above being said, close your eyes, take a deep breath and think. Can you think of another publication that can be found in 52% of target households, offering multiple exposures of an ad for 90 days? 'Households' used as a factor? The census given ‘households’ is a definitive number where ‘readers’ (commonly used, 1-5 per magazine) is a subjective number.

As best as we can tell, we are serving the 25+ but are having a greater impact on the 45+. All the above being said, close your eyes, take a deep breath and think. File Preparation: Supported Applications: Adobe Acrobat PDF - Use the PDF/X-1a:2001 option. All fonts embedded, transparencies flattened, and spot colors converted to CMYK process. Full page PDFs should be created with at least 1/8 inch bleed up to 1/4 inch maximum if bleed is used (bleed is for full-page ads only), crop marks “checked” and Offset set to 1/8 inch (0.125”). InDesign CS5 - We prefer X-1a pdf, but if you must send an InDesign file please include all native files and create outlines on all type. Illustrator CS5 - Use EPS or PDF format (all fonts converted to PATHS). Document Color Mode should be CMYK. Colors should be process, not spot. NO SPOT COLORS (check imported logos). All raster images should be 300 dpi and converted to CMYK (via Photoshop) prior to placing in Illustrator. PhotoShop CS5 - Use CMYK or Grayscale, as .Tiff format, at 300 dpi. When converting RGB to CMYK, you can use the Photoshop settings for North America Prepress 2 for greater color accuracy when producing CMYK separations.
