I'm going to ask you all to close your eyes while I tell you a story. I want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to yourselves. Go ahead. Close your eyes, please.

This is a story about a presidential candidate who refused to disclose his taxes. A story where all of America saw, on national television, a presidential candidate, while on the set of “Days of Our Lives,” told Access Hollywood reporter Billy Bush; “You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful – I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet.

Just kiss. I don’t even wait.

And when you are a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ‘em by the p---sy.

Since his election there have been endless staff infighting, dramatic congressional votes and high-profile resignations and firings.

He fired his FBI Director as he was leading a counterintelligence investigation to determine whether his associates may have coordinated with Russia to interfere with the U.S. presidential election last year. He revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting, according to current and former U.S. officials.

In March, he asked the director of national intelligence, and the director of the National Security Agency, to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government and urged them to publicly deny the existence

of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

A day after defending his use of social media as befitting a "modern day" president, he posted on Twitter an old video clip of him performing in a WWE professional wrestling match, but with a CNN logo superimposed on the head of his opponent.

In two tweets, he called MSNBC's Joe Scarborough "Psycho Joe" and said the hosts of the "Morning Joe" news show came to his private club three nights in a row around New Year's Eve in 2016 "and insisted on joining me." He claimed that Mika Brzezinski "was bleeding badly from a facelift" at the time.

He revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting. His disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State after it was collected and tightly held by senior officials.

He personally dictated a statement in which his son said that he and the Russian lawyer had "primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children" when they met in June 2016, The Post reports. The statement, issued to the New York Times as it prepared an article, emphasised that the subject of the meeting was "not a campaign issue at the time."

These are just a few of the things he is guilty of. Can you see him? I want you to picture the President. Now imagine his name was President Barack Obama.

City Council Selection Committee Recommends New Chief Recorder’s Court Judge To City Council

A City Council Committee appointed by Council will recommend Julius Hunter, the current Interim Senior Recorder’s Court Judge for Recorder’s Court on a

full time basis. Julius Hunter will be presented to the City Council on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, the next scheduled business meeting of the Council for confirmation.

Since January 2017 Hunter has served as the Interim Chief Judge in Recorder’s Court. Judge Hunter previously served as a Pro Tem judge in Recorder’s Court serving as Environmental Court Judge.

He also served during Saturday Court and filled in when needed for the regular judges of Recorder’s Court.

Retired Chief Superior Court Judge John Allen, who served on the Selection Committee, said “Judge Hunter’s leadership in Recorder’s Court will ensure that all citizens who come into Recorder’s Court will receive respect, a fair and impartial hearing, and cases will be expedited as quickly as possible.”

The Council Selection Committee stated it is excited that Judge Hunter chose to seek this opportunity and the citizens of Columbus will ben-

efit from his many years of experience in Recorder’s Court and from his many years serving as a well-respected attorney in this community.

Hunter graduated from Morehouse College in 1974 with a BA Degree. He graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law in 1978. He has been in private law practice in both Alabama and Georgia since 1979.

Hunter served on City Council for twelve (12) years, from 1998-2010. “I feel privileged and honored to serve the citizens of this great community and I am humbled the City Council Committee has recommended me for this responsibility and opportunity. I look forward to serving the citizens in this capacity,” said Hunter.

Hunter is a native of Dayton, Ohio, and a 1970 graduate from Eastmoor High School, Columbus, Ohio. He is married to Saundra Hunter (a native of Columbus, Georgia) and they have three adult children and four grandchildren.

It is time for Blacks in Muscogee County to stop making excuses, passing the buck and blaming others for a problem only we can solve. Our children are dying senseless deaths in record numbers.

This is not a mayoral problem. Mayor Teresa Tomlinson is not killing our children, our sons, our daughters, our fathers, and our mothers. WE are killing each other and until WE step in and take control, take charge and confront the situation head on many more of our precious resources will leave this earth.

I recently wrote about how we need to be concerned about Confederate statutes and monuments. But those statutes are recognizing the dead. Far more important, however, should be our concern for the real life, flesh and blood living statutes who we are losing every day, living breathing sym-

bols of hope that will never have the opportunity to make a monumental difference in this community.

It is time for us to put our words into action. We have marched enough, we have protested enough and we have held enough diversity conferences and the problem still exists. It is time for us to come together as a Black community.

With every generation it is not uncommon to hear that the older generation can’t relate to the younger generation and vice versa. For those of us in the Black community we have always been able to somehow bridge that gap whether it has been a “Big Mama” or strong father figure in the household we were always taught to respect our elders and others.

We possesed a moral compass within us that new basic right from wrong.

That something that kept us from going too far. This, for the most part was

We’ve lost that with our youth today.

Local News Anchor Dee Armstrong Receives Prestigious Torch Award The awards are a gathering of Whos Who in all walks of life in the state of Georgia. Award recipients are 'Given to individuals who demonstrate keen awareness about community needs and step into the fray , lending a hand and making things better,' said RICE founder C. Chandon Carter.

Sometimes you wonder if your life's work is appreciated. Sometimes the answer comes in a pleasant surprise.

It did recently for Dee Armstrong. The anchor and television host is being honored with a Torch Award.

The Torch Award is a lifetime achievement award bestowed by the prestigious RICE Awards each year in Atlanta.

RICE stands for Rising In Community Excellence.

"I asked Chandon how his board heard about my work in Columbus and he told me the nicest story," Dee said.

She said Carter told her that as a young boy his mom would bring him to East Alabama to spend the summers with his grandparents and she would not miss the 6pm or 11pm newscasts because they wanted to see Dee Armstrong deliver the news. He said everyone they knew respected her not only for her ability to reach them with her inviting delivery but because of her work in the community..

Dee's career began when she was just 19 becoming one of the youngest week-

end news anchors in the country. She worked in news during the day and attended college at night.

"I remember early on fighting to have health news become a regular part of the newscast. At that time health news was considered soft or women's news ," she said.

"Eventually it was not only accepted but I was an integral part of one of the most successful area television campaigns to save lives. We called it Buddy Check Nine. Women were reminded each month to check their breasts for cancer. I remember getting soo many calls from women who said their monthly check found a cancer early."

Working with teens with Young Life, with women struggling with addiction issues with Christian Women's Job Corps, and providing a place to stay for struggling families with her rental property are just some of the reasons

Dee was selected for the reward.

Dee said she doesn't dwell too much on the past because the future looks so bright. She's excited about being a first in social media in the Columbus television market in many areas. First to do a live streaming daily show on Facebook, first to use some of the technology associated with live streaming. " I have been blessed to work with the most dedicated and talented director in the state. Nicole Jones makes our daily Facebook Shows equal to shows you see in LA and. New York. She is the reason we were nominated by the Georgia Entertainment Gala Awards, which was a huge acknowledgement of the quality of our work."

"It's been a pleasure to be in the same television market for nearly 40 years. It's been hard work but when something like the Torch Awards is presented to you , it makes the journey worth it."

Miriam L. Jackson, Owner of Babywaves 4D Ultrasound always been done in 2D, which is in black and white and showed mostly fluid filled structures and the skeleton of the baby but 4D showed the tissue and features of the baby. I was amazed and promptly went to my employer to tell him about this technology and how I thought it would benefit his practice to purchase the machine and provide this service in Columbus. He said no, he was not interested and did not think there was a market for it. Boy, was he wrong! While doing medical ultrasounds on some of his patients, they would tell me that they had been to Birmingham or Atlanta to get ultrasounds of their baby in the 4D technology. It kept gnawing at me that this was a viable business venture, so I approached a friend and fellow sonographer with the idea of us leasing a machine and a building for 6 months to see if there was a market for 4D technology in this area.

Long story short, yes there was; we paid for the machine in 6 months and have been at our Hilton Avenue location for 13years. My partner decided to retire so I bought out her half of the business and have been the sole owner now since 2007. Oh, by the way, my former employer has since approached us about buying our business and of course the answer was no.

I am a native of Columbus, GA and grew up in the East Highland Community. I am a proud graduate of William H. Spencer High School, attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA and received my B.S. in Health Sciences from Columbus College, which is now Columbus State University. I attend and have been a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church of Ellerslie, GA for 55 years where I serve as the Church Clerk. I am the only child of doting parents, who are now both deceased, Edward and Vina Lee. I have one son, Djuane Edward Jackson and

two beautiful grandkids whom I adore, Devin age 15 and Madison age 10.

I have been a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for over 37 years and never in my wildest dreams did I think a career in the health care profession would one day lead to me being an entrepreneur. I began doing medical ultrasounds at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, GA in January 1980. I was attending a conference approximately 20 years ago in Atlanta when I was first exposed to 4D technology. Ultrasounds had

I thought I would just be doing entertainment ultrasounds and telling people the gender of their babies but I have done ultrasounds that have had a major impact on the family. One of my customers flew from Ohio to purchase a burial plot for her unborn child and her sister brought her to my business to “see” her baby. The baby had defects that were not compatible with life and the doctor had encouraged her to terminate the pregnancy but she elected to continue the pregnancy, whatever the outcome. This baby was gorgeous and showed off her little personality. She smiled at us, opened her eyes and stuck out her tongue at us. We were all crying at the end of that ultrasound.

You see the upper portion of the baby was normal; all her defects were from the chest down so I focused on her upper body. That mother wrote me later to tell me how she treasured the video and pictures of her baby that she would never see grow up. I often think

of this mother and it makes me happy to know that I was able to give her a glimpse of her baby and even though the ending was bittersweet she has keepsake memories and pictures to cherish.

We have packages that range from $40 to $100. We can determine gender at 14 weeks gestation for $50. The $100 package comes with a video recording of the session, color prints, the gender, the weight of the baby and the heart rate. The Rho Rho Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will host the South Atlantic Regional Conference Cluster IV conference in Columbus, GA October 20-21, 2017. The chapter will welcome 350-400 graduate and undergraduate Sorority members from chapters and colleges from West and South Georgia, the panhandle of Florida to North and Central Florida.

The two-day meeting will convene at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center and utilize over 100 hotel rooms in Columbus and Phenix City with the Columbus Marriott serving as the host hotel and the Courtyard by Marriott in Phenix City/Riverfront as the overflow hotel. (HUD, por sus siglas en inglés), ha preparado un borrador del Reporte de Evaluación del Desempeño del Plan Consolidado Anual (CAPER, por sus siglas en inglés) por el año fiscal federal 2016. El CAPER es la revista anual de los desempeños del Estado de lograr las metas y los objetivos identificados por el Plan Consolidado 20132017 y el Plan de Acción 2016. Note que el CAPER también incluye el Reporte del Desempeño y Evaluación por el Paquete de Subvención para el Desarrollo Comunitario (CDBG) del Estado de Georgia (PER del Estado, por sus siglas en inglés). El Estado de Georgia les anima a los ciudadanos, agencias públicas, y otras partes interesados revisar los contenidos del borrador del CAPER y entregar los comentarios escritos.

During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) we recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture.

Hispanics have had a profound and positive influence on our country through their strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service.

They have enhanced and shaped our national character with centuries-old traditions that reflect the multiethnic and multicultural customs of their community.

Hispanic Heritage Month,

whose roots go back to 1968, begins each year on September 15, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile and Belize also celebrate their independence days during this period and Columbus Day (Día de la Raza) is October 12.

The term Hispanic or Latino, refers to Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race. On the 2010 Census form, people of Spanish, Hispanic and/or Latino origin could identify themselves as Mexican,
