Summerfest 2011 = FUN

The library is your destination for fun this summer, from a very funny ventriloquist to lively Mr. Stinkyfeet performances. Our programming lineup is inside. Discover those free, can’t-miss events.

Whether you need a zip code in Maine or the birthday of Mozart, your questions are always welcome. Librarian Lissa Staley answered an online chat question from a young student and his mom recently. “The boy’s assignment was due soon. When physical books weren’t getting us anywhere, we turned to the Biography in Context on our Digital Branch. The mom was especially impressed that we found four articles in about five minutes, and she and her son didn’t actually have to leave their laptop to come in to get the information,” Lissa said.

78 780

Librarians like Lissa answer customers’ questions 78 hours a week when the library is open. Questions range in topic from help finding a stock price to help finding a phone number. Bottom line: People enjoy using Ask a Librarian and use it a lot. We average 780 questions via instant message, text and phone a week. Look at all the ways you can ask your questions. • Ask a Librarian using our mobile app • Call 785-580-4555 • Text your question to 785-274-9494 • Email: asktscpl@tscpl.org • IM a librarian at www.tscpl.org

travel light with e-books

Fill your e-reader, tablet or iPad with great literature – some that you can keep and enjoy forever. “Your library has been proactively addressing the e-reader learning curve, offering how-to classes and in-house demos,” Shari Schawo, librarian, said.

Most of the e-book titles electronically move onto the next customer after the due date – meaning you’ll never have a late fee because they return themselves. However, thousands of the classics that are out of copyright are yours to download and keep.
