Dear Friends,

Coming out of 2020, we knew 2021 would be like nothing we had ever experienced. There was still much uncertainty throughout our world due to the pandemic and economic climate. We did know one thing for certain, the members of our community were supportive and engaged in library efforts.

Last year proved to be your most generous year in our now 40-year history. We continue to be amazed by your generosity.

Your gifts continue to make a difference for each and every person in Shawnee County. Throughout this publication, you will see a snippet of the impact you’ve made.

STEPHANIE HALL FUND FOR SNEAKING LEARNING

Established

Stephanie Hall was passionate about learning, literacy, and FUN. Stephanie served as a planner, instigator, and risk taker during her 20+ year time with TSCPL prior to her untimely passing in 2021 at the young age of 44.

Her family chose to have memorial funds sent to the Library, honoring her legacy by benefiting the community and work she so loved. Stephanie loved that people could learn things while having fun. “Who says learning has to be boring?”

The fund will serve the community through benefiting staff training and/or any of the Topeka

and Shawnee County Public Library’s public programming that can be deemed as sneaky learning.

What is sneaky learning? Sneaky learning feels and looks like play to the outside observer, but skills and lessons are being learned through play and fun.

Tricia and her team are combining their love of service and the library serving up sweet treats, specialty coffees and amazing specials Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. They are also the exclusive caterer of TSCPL meeting rooms.

Rainforest Adventure was part of the Summer Reading experience in 2021. This unique event took attendees on an adventure through the rainforest maze where they discovered a rodent that weighs more than 100 pounds and a beetle that can carry more than 850 times its own weight!

This 20th annual art exhibit for children is made possible in part by The Library Foundation through contributions from the Sabatini Family Foundation and The National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
