You just wanna have a good time, right? Well, Bob Fargason isn’t going to stand in your way. In fact, he’ll help. He goes off to work each day as owner of Party Land, a franchise store that sells everything from plain foam cups for any occasion to silly costumes for Halloween. Patriotic occasions, religious occasions and personal milestones, e.g., school graduation, also require their own unique decorations — as well as someone to buy them. That’s one reason Fargason and his wife, Gigi, like their business. “You very rarely have a customer who’s not in a good mood,” he said. After all, who can be in a foul mood when they’re picking out Scooby-Doo napkins for a children’s party, or “over-the-hill” decorations for someone who’s turning ... 30?? The Fargasons entered the business world in part on the strength of his marketing degree from Jacksonville State University, which he earned in 1985. “I’ve always liked marketing and sales,” said Fargason, son of a high school headmaster. “I believe the Lord blesses you with abilities.” About five years later, the couple started a Merry Maids housecleaning franchise business.
