Noble Street Festival

2011

Welcome to the 9th Annual Noble Street Festival and 19th Annual Cheaha Challenge presented by Wells Fargo Advisors! The Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association (NEABA) is pleased to again bring you this weekend’s festival and cycling events. We are a club comprised of individuals and families who are passionate about active lifestyles and promoting cycling and the outdoors. Visit us at www. neaba.net. We’d love to have your join our organization! We not only welcome locals to the events this weekend, but we welcome several thousand out of town guests, as well. More than 500 competitors from across the U.S. and several foreign countries will race in the Sunny King Criterium on Saturday. Sunday will feature the Cheaha Challenge presented by Wells Fargo Advisors—a ride in Piedmont for recreational cyclists of all ages and abilities that attracts more than 600 participants from over 25 states. Sunday will also feature the 2nd Annual Foothills Classic Road Race, a competitive long distance race in Piedmont that will attract an additional 350 cyclists from across the country. Most all of these cyclists bring other travelers with them to our community, thereby boosting tourism and providing our community the opportunity to show our Southern hospitality!

in the street, twelve restaurants will offer lunch and dinner from 11am to 8pm. The Scion KidZone is larger this year than in any of the previous 8 years. Check out the schedule for NEW attractions, like Alien Laser Tag, Copter Twirl, and more. Papa Smurf, Star Wars characters, JSU’s Cocky, Gadsden State’s Swoosh, and Mellow Mushroom’s Mel will provide entertainment for kids of all ages. And the “just for fun” bike race for kids will be a major hit again this year. The Hot Blast Music Café provides a diverse mix of music from various artists all day, and the Mellow Mushroom Mad Dash provides kids a chance to run one lap around the .7-mile bike race course. Add art vendors, Relay for Life booths, and sponsor booths for a full day of fun on Saturday! Sunday’s Cheaha C h a l l e n g e presented by Wells Fargo Advisors in Piedmont will offer route options from 26 miles (with very few hills), to 102 miles and a climb over Cheaha Mountain—twice! We hope you will cheer for these cyclists as they travel Hwy 9 and the Scenic Drive, but we especially hope you will be courteous and safe as you encounter them on the roadways.

The Anniston Runners Club and YMCA will kick things off early Saturday These events are made possible by our sponsors and the tireless efforts morning, hosting a 5K run for kids and adults on a course that will take VM O\UKYLKZ VM ]VS\U[LLYZ ;OL 5VISL :[YLL[ -LZ[P]HS ILULÄ[Z *HSOV\U participants on a tour of downtown Anniston. You can make a difference in a homebound person’s life Meals on Wheels has been serving disabled and homebound residents of our county for the past 25 years. One hundred hot wholesome meals are delivered five days a week to individuals who wouldn’t otherwise have access to one. The meals are prepared by Stringfellow Hospital Food Service with each client’s specific dietary needs considered. The meals are delivered by volunteers. Currently we have a waiting list for persons who are in need of these meals, but we do not have enough volunteers to add routes to cover these people. There is a real need in the Saks, Weaver, and Alexandria area. Please contact MEALS ON WHEELS, and volunteer to drive a route. If twenty people would volunteer, we could start a route in the above mentioned areas. You would only have to drive every other week. We do prefer two people to drive a route in order to cover the area quicker and safer.

Just one hour of your time will mean so much to others.
