A Chapter 7 bankruptcy allows the debtor to retain certain exempt property, but the debtor’s remaining property is gathered and sold by a trustee from which creditors will receive payment. It may also be used by businesses which wish to terminate their business. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy enables debtors, through court supervision and protection, to propose and carry out a repayment plan under which creditors are paid, in full or in part, in installments over a three-year period. During that time, debtors are prohibited from starting or continuing collection efforts. The following bankruptcies declared by Calhoun County residents were recorded by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Northern District of Alabama last week:

restaurant inspections Here are food service establishments recently inspected by the Calhoun County Health Department, along with scores. A score of 100 indicates the inspector found no deficiencies. Potentially hazardous deficiencies (four- or five-point demerit items) are noted. These must be corrected immediately and inspectors say they are often corrected while the inspection is under way. Restaurants earning below 70 must raise their scores within seven days or face closure.

NEW

2011

Hell’s Kitchen, 7 p.m. on Fox: Chef Gordon Ramsay is back to put aspiring restaurateurs through his culinary boot camp, with the winner getting a chance to become America’s next cooking star. This is a two-night season premiere, with Part 2 airing Tuesday. Movie: Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story, 7 p.m. on Lifetime: She’s lived one of publishing’s wildest success stories. Author J.K. Rowling, creator of the “Harry Potter” series, went from dire straits to becoming the world’s most celebrated author. In this unauthorized biographical film, Poppy Montgomery plays Rowling in the days before her name was known, when Harry was little more than a fanciful idea in her head. Law & Order: Criminal Intent, 8 p.m. on NBC: Goren and Eames (Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe) investigate when a millionaire philanthropist vanishes after announcing the winner of a medical research grant. The Closer, 8 p.m. on TNT: As they struggle to cope with the reorganization in their department, Brenda (Kyra Sedgwick) and her colleagues investigate the murder of a girl who was house-sitting. Abraham and Mary Lincoln: A House Divided, 9 p.m. on PBS: While Mary Lincoln struggles with her grief over the loss of her son, Abraham becomes consumed with the nation’s tragedy and issues a defining statement

of his presidency, the Emancipation Proclamation, in this new episode. Harry’s Law, 9 p.m. on NBC: David E. Kelley and Kathy Bates. It’s a winning combination, and NBC thinks so, too, renewing this series, created by the man behind L.A. Law and starring the Oscarwinning actress, for a second season. An encore of the show’s pilot episode introduces Bates as lawyer Harriet “Harry” Korn, who is downsized out of her job at a blue-chip firm and opens a practice in a tough Cincinnati neighborhood, where the cases are quite different from what she’s used to. Hawaii Five-0, 9 p.m. on CBS: Danny (Scott Caan) thinks he’s died and gone to detective heaven when a photographer is murdered while in Hawaii for a swimsuit shoot, and he gets to interview the models. It’s a rerun. Surviving the Cut, 9 p.m. on Discovery: In this new episode, Navy SEALs, Green Berets and other elite soldiers undergo an intensive six-week sniper training course at Georgia’s Fort Benning to learn how to shoot from extreme distances. Rizzoli & Isles, 9 p.m. on TNT: In this new episode, Jane and Maura (Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander) are enjoying a day at an outdoor spa, but their relaxation is interrupted by the discovery of a murdered person. Or two. Depending on whom you count. And when.
