Off to work ... with a party supply company

It’s not all fun and games when you go off to work by renting, transporting and operating party equipment. There’s the scheduling. The tax forms. The safety rules. But at the end of the day, when the kids have had fun and the adults seem to want you back next time, it’s all worthwhile for Terry and Frances Howell. They’re the owners and primary employees of Howell Vending and Party Rental LLC, a nine-year-old business that supplies everything from tables and chairs to inflatable “rooms” where youngsters can bounce around and play games. Need a cotton-candy machine or a train for the little ones to ride in? They’ve got that, too, the latter driven by Frances’ 68-year-old father, “Red” Harrelson. The attention to detail and logistics is something Terry Howell honed in 25 years of employment at BAE, a local defense contractor. Howell, a 53-year-old Saks native, was a BAE production supervisor, but he had another, more informal job at the company, especially important at company picnic time. “I was on the activities committee at BAE — I was one of the people who searched for Please see work ❙ Page 3
