From the editor… Having lived on the lake for a couple of decades now, one would think the water’s wonders would not have the same effect as they did when I moved the few pieces of furniture I had into a rental house just to be close to the lake. Today, the house is much nicer, and I own a personally precious piece of real estate. And it never ceases to amaze me the scenes I witness from my lakeside vantage point. In July and August, I spent afternoons on the deck watching a line of ducks, mothers with babies in tow, waddling up to my bountiful fig tree, feasting on its ripe remnants scattered on the ground below. Across the slough, I watched a lakeside wedding ceremony in the backyard of a neighbor. I wasn’t a guest, just an onlooker from across the way. In the sky above, I saw the perfect formation of Canada geese flying to their next destination point, their honking announcing their arrival in my neighborhood. And more times than I could ever hope to count, I’ve seen anglers hauling in bass that would make BASSMasters champions look on in envy. It is a special place where I live — a place where thousands of others just like me delight in the same simple pleasures that define this lake in our own backyard. It’s lakeside. It’s September. It’s where you want to be.

He grew up with a love for boats and the water, and that passion has not faded. “Growing up, my first boat was a 12-foot Stauter-built wooden duck boat with a 5-horsepower Buccaneer engine on it,” said Alpine resident Sam Marston. “When you grow up on the water, everything has something to do with the water.” Growing up on the eastern shore of Mobile bay, Marston’s brother dated a girl whose father owned a Chris Craft Capri. “I saw that boat and I wanted one,” he said. Although it took many years, Marston’s wish came true. Continued on Page 8

Marston said he and his wife, Judy, who passed away from stomach cancer in 2003, purchased a lot in Alpine in 1993 so they would have a place to store their boats. “We had a houseboat, but it got hit by lightning and sank, so we built the house I have now,” he said. Marston said he checked boat magazines in search of a Chris Craft Capri. “We went to see old boats for sale in Maine and Michigan,” he said. “But most of the boats in our price range were ‘basket cases.’” In 2000, Marston saw an ad for a Chris Craft Capri. “It was a 256 area code, so we figured it was nearby,” he said. “It was 99 miles away in Langston, Ala., on the Tennessee River.” The boat was a 1956 Chris Craft Capri in working shape. “Judy said, ‘Sam, don’t hesitate like you usually do. Go for your dream.’” He said. “We picked it up on July 4, 2000, and drove it home to Logan Martin Lake.” They named the boat “Still the One.” “We named it after our favorite song by Shania Twain,” he said. “It was the song that was played at our wedding, and we all know that a 1956 Chris Craft Capri is ‘Still the One.’” Marston said the 19-foot boat is all original, except for the upholstery on the seats. “The previous owner re-upholstered the seats in blue

ChrisCraft instead of the original hunter green color,” he said. “If I ever re-upholster the seats, I plan to go back to the original hunter green.” Made out of mahogany wood the Chris Craft Capri seats six. “It has the original push-pull throttle and the forward/neutral/ reverse lever is on the floor,” he said. “It has no radio now, but had an AM radio in it at one time because I found the antenna.” Marston said only 786 19foot Chris Craft Capris were made over a three-year period from 1955-1957. His boat is number 303. “When I bought it, the boat was running well but I had to do some engine work the next year,” he said. “What does the word ‘boat’ mean? ‘Break Out Another Thousand,’ because that is what you do with most boats.”

Marston said at one of the first boat shows they took the Chris Craft Capri to, the boat had continual problems starting. “We won the ‘Most Towed Award’ at the boat show,” he laughed. “My wife wouldn’t go get the award; she made me go get it.” Marston said the Chris Craft Capri is a “user” boat and not something that just sits and looks pretty. “I did ski behind it one time, just to say I did it,” he said. “I have the pictures to prove it.” Martson said he was concerned the stern might collapse, so now the boat is used for riding in as a pleasure craft. “It is a flat-bottom boat, so we use it in calm water,” he said. “I usually take it out early mornings and in the evenings.” The Chris Craft Capri has the original Hercules engine — 235 cubic inches with six cylinders, 131 horsepower, and three one-barrel Zenith carburetors. “The boat can go up to 38 mph, but I’ve never taken it that fast,” he said. “I got it up to over 35 mph for a very short time once, and I was worried about heart failure: both the boat and me.” Marston’s boat came with a birthday: March 12, 1956. “We know it sold for $3,830 retail origi-

nally, and that it was shipped from Cadillac, Mich., to Chicago,” he said. “After that, we don’t know anything from 1956-1995, when the previous owner purchased the boat.” Marston said he sent off for the hand-written hull card that was attached to the boat when it was being built. “It is a piece of the boat’s history from the factory that made it,” he said. Marston said his wife also bought him a special present she found at a boat show. “She found a boat brochure for Chris Craft from 1956,” he said. “On the front of the brochure it showed a 54-foot Chris Craft Constellation with a Chris Craft Capri beside it. In 2001, we restaged the picture with a friend who had a 1956 Chris Craft Constellation and our boat.” Marston said the Chris Craft Capri is not the only older boat he owns. About eight years ago, he found a Sea Bee motor identical to the motor that powered his first boat. “I had a motor, but no boat,” he said. Marston purchased a 1955 Orlando Clipper aluminum boat in 2006. The Sea Bee motor was too small, so Marston purchased a 1955 Mercury Mark 25-horsepower motor. “Now I had the boat and the motor, but needed a steering wheel, which I found in Oregon,” he said. Marston named the 1955 Orlando Clipper “Zoom Zoom” after his grandson, Jon. Both grandchildren, Jon and Amelia, enjoy using the boats, as do Marston’s friends. “I love living on the lake,” he said.

Ginger FoxGoverâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s lifelong love of art focuses on animals and landscapes.

ART BY THE WATER Fox-Gover’s personality shines in watercolor Story by Brandon Fincer Photos by Bob Crisp When asked why watercolor was her medium of choice in her paintings, Ginger Fox-Gover tried explaining the advantages of watercolor but began to think maybe she was not getting her point across like she wanted. So she stood up, excused herself from the room, ran up the stairs of her house, located on an inlet of Logan Martin Lake south of Cropwell, and returned with three feathers, a pine cone, an egg and an orange housecat. “Now, how do you get the textures between this (as she handed over the feathers) and this (the pine cone) and that (the egg) and something 3-D like that (the cat)? That’s what I’m saying. With watercolor you’re taking a flat piece of paper and you’re making it have weight and texture and emotion. “It doesn’t have to be pretty. It just has to be where you are at that time, if you’re really honest.” Most of her brightly colored paintings do appear

true to her oversized, vivacious personality. She said she once had the teacher of an art class remark, “Well, you’re not afraid of color,” while she looked over Fox-Gover’s shoulder at her painting. Her interest in art has been a lifelong one, developed while growing up in the countryside outside of New Bern, N.C. “I really can’t remember a time when I wasn’t doing art, or I couldn’t swim.” It was also during this time she developed her love of landscapes and animals, which serve as the subject matter for most of her artwork. “My father knew every bird by its song, by its footprint, by its shadow at night, by its call. We would go through the woods and sneak up on white-tailed deer or raccoons. When you have to be quiet enough and aware enough to see a wild animal, you have to learn to pay attention, and you really watch, and you have to be quiet.” She gained an appreciation for plants and nurturing things to grow from her mother, who carefully kept a

garden and would also collect herbs from out in the forest. She is still able to find comfort in those places here on the lake. “When I lose my balance, and I can’t face a white piece of paper or jewelry or wood or whatever, I go to the garden or I go to the woods or I go to the water … that gives me back my balance. “Then I can go in, and I’m so intrigued by a bee and a flower or the flowers or the texture of the dirt or a rock I almost stepped on and hurt my foot, that you can get past all the everyday stuff in your head and get your center back again. That also really helps your spiritual program. You can walk outside for five minutes, and if you can’t find God, you ain’t looking.” She said living next to Lake Logan Martin is a big inspiration in her painting. “Every morning you get up, you look out those windows and you’re in heaven.” Her backyard leading down to the lake serves as a haven for ducks and geese, who Gover says sometimes number well over 100 in the backyard. “We usually have a great blue heron standing on the edge of the dock. You get to watch actual wildlife walk across

your yard every day. The lake is full of life. There’s fish; there’s ducks; there’s people having fun swimming. There’s like a canvas in front of you the whole time, not to mention the seasons.” Her work can be seen at the ArtScapes Gallery on Cogswell Avenue in Pell City. She said Artscape is a tremendous resource in the area and she hopes Pell City and St. Clair County will support it and help it grow in the future. Gover thinks there is a lot of untapped potential for artists in this area. “People get intimidated by art sometimes and they say, ‘I can’t do that, or I can’t draw a straight line.’ Well that’s what rulers are for. My theory is everybody on the planet since the beginning of time is an artist. Some just haven’t found out what their art form is yet. “There’s pottery and woodworking and clay and now with the visual arts on computers, that stuff’s amazing.” Painting is also a great way to get people to open up and share their thoughts. She has seen it work for everyone from troubled youths to elderly adults. The key is to get paint all over them. “I love getting other people dirty because then they loosen up.” In actuality, it would be a monumental task to stay uptight around a free spirit such as Gover, whether paint is involved or not.

An adventure on legendary creek EDITOR’S NOTE: This is a continuing series written by David Atchison, Lakeside Magazine writer and Daily Home Pell City news editor, about his experiences as he travels down the Logan Martin stretch of the Alabama River Trail. We left Coosa River RV Park at about 7 on a Saturday morning and headed toward the mouth of Blue Eye Creek. “Why haven’t we paddled this before?” Bobby McDaniel kept asking Sonny Oliver as we paddled further up Blue Eye Creek. “This is cool.” The creek was only a short distance from where the two men live in Lincoln, but Bobby had only gone so far up the creek. On this trip, we traveled all the way to where Blue Eye Springs fed into Blue Eye Creek along Blue Eye Springs Road, about a six-mile journey. “The legend has it, if you ever drink out of the spring,

you will come back,” said Lincoln Mayor Lew Watson. He also said Blue Eye Creek got its name from a local Indian chief who had one brown eye and one blue eye. “That’s what the legend is,” Watson said. Blue Eye Creek originates in Calhoun County, near the Anniston Army Depot, and it runs through the heart of the City of Lincoln’s historic district. There is no telling how many people have been baptized in this creek. I would probably say thousands. Blue Eye Baptist Church is only a stone’s throw away from Blue Eye Springs, just off Blue Eye Springs Road, making it an ideal spot for baptisms, but there are many churches located near or along this creek that winds through two counties. I don’t really know if the churches still have baptisms “down by the creek,” but it sure would be a pretty cold dip.

One thing I immediately realized when I exited my boat was the cold water temperature of the creek. The creek water was at least 20 degrees colder than the water in Logan Martin Lake. Actually the water in the lake, where we started our trip, was warm. The water from Blue Eye Springs, which feeds into Blue Eye Creek, was even colder than the creek. My original plan was to paddle from where Blue Eye Creek feeds into Logan Martin Lake, all the way up to the historic district in Lincoln. I was going to have a bite to eat at a restaurant there to finish the trip. I talked to Bobby about my plans, and he questioned if we could paddle that far up Blue Eye Creek. He actually scouted part of the creek, closer to the historic district of Lincoln, the week before. Too bad we couldn’t paddle that far up the creek. It was impossible to navigate because of the shallow spots, debris and log jams along the way. We figured we could make it to where Blue Eye Spring Baptist Church was located, and we did manage to paddle there without any trouble. One thing I was glad of is that we started our trip early, before the temperature started reaching into the 90s. It was August in Alabama, and BOARD CERTIFIED OPHTHALMOLOGISTS

tinue our journey. Some logs were just under the water’s surface, and we were able to slide over them. The trip was really pretty neat, and it was nice to have company on this trip. It is impossible to make this trip, unless you travel in a kayak or maybe a canoe. And the creek banks, which were wooded, were pretty much trash-free and very clean. I kept thinking to myself that this is a great place to fish because very few people would have access to this shallow water. There were spots along the creek which were only inches deep, while there were some deeper holes, 4 to 5 feet deep. Watson said the creek back in the 1950s was packed full of pickerel, a fish that looks like a northern pike. “They were the predominant fish there,” he said. “They were easy to catch.” Pickerel need cold water, which Blue Eye Creek and Blue Eye Spring provide. Watson points to the habitat change for the absence of the once common pickerel fish. “There was good fishing there even before the river was dammed,” Watson said. He said beavers built dams along the creek, changing the habitat and making it less desirable for pickerels. The creek does look like a haven for bass, bream and crappie. One thing I know for sure, if I paddle back up Blue Eye Creek again, and according to Indian legend I will, I’m going to take my fishing gear and see what I can catch for dinner — not that my wife, Laura, would welcome it. She’s not a fish eater and prefers food from the grocery store. So, until then, have a safe and wonderful time on the lake.

we all know what that brings. Fishermen were already on the lake trying to catch bass as we left the main body of Logan Martin Lake and headed up Blue Eye Creek. We talked to several fishermen along the way, including Johnny Norton and Bob Noell, both of Heflin. We also met Tony Sullivan from Georgia, who was fishing around some tall grass near the mouth of the creek. Blue Eye Creek is pretty wide at the mouth, but it narrows as you continue to paddle up the creek. The shores along Blue Eye Creek are filled with RV parks and campgrounds. We passed River Beach RV Park, Blue Eye Point RV Park, 78 Boat Landing and RV Park, Blue Eye RV Park and one of the bigger RV parks, Paradise Island. But as you travel up Blue Eye Creek, the RV parks disappear, the creek narrows dramatically and the surroundings become more secluded and isolated. “It really was an adventure,” McDaniel said. “You wonder what was just around the next bend. It was just a great experience.” We saw some wildlife along the way, mostly waterfowl, like ducks and egrets, but there was one turtle I was able to get a picture of on a pier. We thought for sure we would see a snake or two on this trip. There were a lot of low overhanging trees, thick vegetation along the creek banks, logs and even some beaver dams along the creek, but we did not spot a single snake. I still haven’t seen a snake since I started paddling down the Logan Martin Lake portion of the Alabama Scenic River Trail. There were some logs that had fallen across the creek, which we were able to barely squeeze underneath to con-

Story by Elsie Hodnett Photos by Brian Schoenhals It began with a love of both cooking and entertaining — and blossomed from there. “It was a natural evolution for us, from entertaining friends, family and neighbors at our home and participating in the Alabama Wildlife Federation wild game cook-offs to purchasing a restaurant,” said Cindy Bordes, who owns The Tavern of St. Clair with her husband, Jay. The Tavern of St. Clair is located along U.S. 78 in the former Café Avanti restaurant building.

Bordes said her husband owned a six-county Orkin franchise, but when Café Avanti came up for sale, they sold the franchise and purchased the restaurant. The Bordeses wanted to supply the community with a place to eat similar to the Café Avanti style of dining, but take the restaurant in a different direction. “We hired the original Café Avanti chef, Clint Bullock,” she said. “Clint said it was like coming home to cook.” The Bordeses created a menu with both new dishes and several popular Café Avanti dishes that customers especially

Bordes said several of the popular Café Avanti dishes kept on the menu include chicken parmesan, crab au gratin, chicken Ghione, gourmet pizzas, and homemade rolls and butter spread. Several new dishes include Kentucky hot brown, which combines Kentucky ham and turkey in a cheese gravy sauce over bread with bacon and tomato, and the Italian Trio, which features spaghetti with three large homemade meatballs. Bordes said they have tweaked the appetizers to include customers’ requests. “Our Tavern platter appetizer now features stuffed mushrooms instead of the roasted bell pepper spread,” she said. “And it still includes the fried dill pickles, fried macaroni and cheese balls and fried green tomatoes. “We want to offer the business community a place for lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and then offer collegiate sports fans a lunch spot on Saturdays,” she said. “And our hours may change depending on the volume of business.” Bordes said the back tavern sports pub features 13 TVs. “There is no seat in the sports pub where you can’t view one of the 13 TVs and watch whatever game or sporting event is playing,” Jay Bordes said. The lunch menu is separate from the dinner menu. “We will still offer the gourmet pizzas, but the rest of the menu is changed,” she said. It features fried green tomato BLT, Greek salad, chicken salad wrap, Cuban pulled pork sandwich, chicken club, and daily hot dish specials such as salmon, roasted chicken, spaghetti, and more. Cindy Bordes said business is going well so far. “We have had a lot of people interested in booking The Tavern of St. Clair for private parties and functions,” she said. They partitioned off a portion of the restaurant to accommodate those private functions. “We have had all types of events here, from birthday parties to anniversaries and even a renewal of vows,” she said. “It is nice to have a place where the community can come together and celebrate.” Her husband agreed, saying they have received positive feedback from the community. “Customers have written us letters saying how glad they are to have the restaurant open,” he said. “The customers have really enjoyed the food and service and like having a place to go to celebrate.”

Despite the change in ownership, The Tavern still has a finedining atmosphere.

There are lots of things they like about their Logan Martin home, but one of the main things is the solitude it offers. “It’s quiet here, and we really like that,” said Sandra Adams, who along with her husband, Mark, built their three-level home on the lake in May 2007. Their stone-and-shingle house sits on top of a rise over a broad slough on the lake, avoiding traffic from the main channel but offering a view of the boats and people going by. Naturally, it’s a UGA doormat at the front door welcoming visitors to the house. There’s another welcome, too, at the Adams, a set of Yorkshire terriers named Trixie and Reese. The front entry opens into the living room, where it’s all about UGA. A pair of black leather couches face each other and are

The same molding is used on the mantel and fireplace, which is built on a stacked-stone hearth. A large dining room opens from one side of the foyer, where the Adams used the same shade for the walls and added cream-colored judge’s paneling along the walls under a chair rail. A large arched window is trimmed in white molding and the ceiling is a double tray, done in the same colors. There’s an entry to the kitchen from the dining room and also from the living room. Beige ceramic tile is used on the floor, and cabinets are cherry with a spiced glaze. Work islands are of the same cabinetry and offer storage for cookware. Appliances are stainless, and there are double ovens, one a convection oven. Countertops and islands are covered with black and beige flecked granite. Walls in the kitchen are the same latte shade used in the living room and dining room, and pantry doors and molding are white. In keeping with the entertaining mode at the Adams’,

Her family says that she does the majority of the cooking when there’s a crowd, but Mrs. Adams said “everyone helps” when there’s entertaining to do. The laundry room and bath are located along a hall from the living room that also leads to a large double garage. The master bedroom and bath are located on the main level, down a hall from the living room. The bath includes a jetted tub set in soothing shades of beige and cream tile, also used on the floor. finish as the kitchen and fixtures and pulls are pewter. The master bedroom looks out to the lake and a king sized bed and oversized chest are in a mission style. Twin triple-drawer night stands are topped with pewter lamps. Bed coverings are a black-and-white floral design laid over a black-and-white striped bed skirt. Stacked pillows are in patterns of black and white as well. Stairs from the living room lead to the second level, and an exposed walkway looks down into the living room. The stairs are set with wrought-iron spindles matching a chandelier hanging in the foyer. At one end of the hall is the room the Adams’ daughters call the “dormitory,” where there are three double beds and two twins, allowing for eight to sleep there. It has come in handy for many occasions — particularly a couple of bachelorette parties given for friends. The UGA theme is continued here, with black bed skirts topped with red comforters. Two more bedrooms offer space for guests upstairs, and a full bath sits in-between. Furnishings are in the mission style used elsewhere in the house. The ground level is reached through a stairway from the living room, and this is where a pool table and ping-pong table are placed. There’s also room for storing a pontoon boat with garage doors for entry and exit. The area leads out to a covered patio underneath the

upstairs porch and deck, and a walkway goes to the Adams’ pier and deck on the water. Two personal watercrafts are parked there, as is the boat and a huge blue and white raft fitted with seats for having fun on the water. The screened porch overlooks the boat dock and pier and there are matching chaise lounges along with chairs or relaxing. The porch bears more witness to the football the family enjoys, with a large Georgia logo posted on a wall matching the emblem on the cover over the grill. Chairs are covered with red cushions and placed beside a tile table done in a bulldog logo. There’s also a hammock bearing the Georgia emblem. The porch has an adjoining deck with starts that lead to the lower patio. Out by the pier, there’s a flagpole bearing a United States flag, and also a flag stating the family’s football preference. “It makes for a friendly rivalry when people go by,” Adams said. “And Alabama’s our second favorite team.” There’s a sign hanging in the house that attests to the family’s attitude about Logan Martin Lake. It reads “A day at the lake is worth a month in town.” “I love the water, it’s so peaceful,” Mrs. Adams said. The convenience of the location is another factor, Adams said. “It’s quiet, it’s in the country, and you can be where you need to be in about 20 minutes,” he said.

The Merriman-Webster Thesaurus defines infinity as “endless, unceasing, lasting,” words that help describe Mike and Susan Reeves’ infinity pool beside Logan Martin Lake in Cropwell. This is the Reeves’ second summer to enjoy their beautifully different pool, and Mrs. Reeves says friends and family become more intrigued with it every time they come. The pool has a vanishing edge which gives it the illusion of going on and on and finally blending with the lake. It was designed by Talladega native Dan Yoe, who is with Cox Pools in Birmingham. Susan Reeves says she and her husband decided on an infinity pool after discussing several ideas for a design for the pool they were having built. “We have a perfect view of the lake from our home and the last thing we wanted to do was take away from that view with the pool. With the infinity pool we have the best of both!” Susan described the pool as a “glorified” lap pool. Its depth is four-andone-half feet on the side to a depth of 6 feet in the middle. There’s a wonderful tanning ledge that measures some 8 feet

by 8 feet on the shallow end, and Susan says laughingly, her two little granddaughters have renamed it the “dance floor” when she turns on the “bubbles.” She says they spend a lot of time dancing in the bubbles. On the other end of the pool is a fountain depicting four dolphins. It was a gift to Susan from Mike on their 25th wedding anniversary. The beautiful piece of Art depicts two large dolphins hovering over two smaller ones. Mike told his wife the fountain made him think of them as they watched over their two daughters. The fountain is lit at night casting reflections on the water. The Reeves’ daughter, Laura Reeves Flink, and her husband, Chris, fly down from New York frequently with their daughters, three-and-a-half year-old Truitt and Liza, who is 26 months old. Mike and Susan’s second daughter, Skylar Reeves, lives in Atlanta and drives down for weekends when her busy schedule allows. Mrs. Reeves’ mother, Sue Nicholls of Talladega, loves spending time with Susan at the pool also. Mike and Susan Reeves moved to Cropwell five years ago from their homes in Beaumont, Texas and Orange Beach, Fla. She says they love entertaining their Texas and Florida friends for long weekends around the pool. “We’ve had birthday parties, and other celebrations as well as many impromptu gatherings here. It is the perfect way to entertain.” In May, the infinity pool was the setting for a spring wedding when Susan’s nephew, Allen Graham Nicholls, and Shelley England exchanged vows.

Water flows over this lip to give the infinity pool its distinctive look. The Reeves say that, between the pool and the breathtaking view of Logan Martin Lake, they feel like they have found “a little bit of heaven.” “Where else could you find this much beauty in such peaceful surroundings,” Mrs. Reeves says. “It is a wonderful place to live.”

The Return of Development effort resurrecting community buried by rising lake

Story by Chris Norwood Photos by Bob Crisp The Easonville community was once the thriving heart of St. Clair County, more populous than even the twin county seats of Ashville and Pell City. All that changed in the 1950s, when Alabama Power came in and bought just about the entire area. Most of that once thriving community is now at the bottom of Logan-Martin Lake. But for a portion of that community that remains on dry land, a comeback seems to be in the works. Like many recent developments, however, the new Easonville got off to a slow start, according to developer David Dean, who is spearheading some of the early development with his wife, Connie. “This project actually got started more than three years ago, but due to the decline in the economy, it hadn’t really taken off as well as we hoped,” Dean said. The development is currently owned by Metro Bank, and the Deans have been working

to renew interest through the design of an attractive entrance sign and landscaping and a recently completed pool house and community center. “They started talking with us about this about a year ago,” Dean said. “I’ve been in business for 34 years, and I’ve built eight or nine other pools over the years about this size. We used another subdivision in Pell City as a comparison to try to get an idea of what we did and didn’t want to do. “This is going to be a good subdivision, and because of the location and exposure (of the pool house), a nice structure was really imperative. So I drew up the plans and built it, and Connie handled the furnishings and interior design.” The pool itself measure 40 feet by 20 feet and is a true gunite concrete pool, he continued. It is a saltwater pool, making it significantly less expensive to maintain, at about $150 per year as opposed to $2,000 per year for chlorine. “It’s easier on the skin, too, especially with children, and it’s not affected by rainwater,” he said. There is a concrete patio and covered porch all around, and there is plenty of

lighting for nighttime events. The pool house is full brick with vinyl siding for easy maintenance. It is designed to provide easy access for children during the day, and meets all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is ideally suited for weddings, receptions and parties of all sorts. The inside features granite countertops, custom cabinets and tile floors. There is a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and oven and microwave on site. The facility officially opened July 4, but is available only to residents and property owners in the community. “We still need to buy some pool furniture,” Dean said. “We do have limited seating capacity right now,” although the facility can accommodate 25 to 30 people with no difficulty. There is also access to an outdoor shower and bathrooms from the pool and pool house, as well as indoor bathrooms. “The pool house is basically a simply rectangle. In spite of the varying heights of the ceiling, the inside is essentially one big room. As for the Easonville Community itself, there are currently 30 to 35 lots available, most of them owned by one of four contractors. Properties can be bought directly from the builder at a 6 percent discount, or owners can work with an agent in the form of a cooperative. Houses must be 1,600 square feet minimum, and there have already been two presales in the 2,000-square-foot
