n behalf of the respective committees, welcome to the 11th Annual Noble Street Festival and the 21st Annual Cheaha Challenge. The weekend offers fun outdoor events for the whole family and attracts more than 1000 cycling visitors and their families who travel to our community from more than 20 states. The events are produced locally by the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association (NEABA) and a host of other community YROXQWHHUV 7KH IHVWLYDO EHQHĂ€WV &DOKRXQ &RXQW\ 5HOD\ for Life. More than $80,000 has been donated since 7KH &KHDKD &KDOOHQJH EHQHĂ€WV WKH &KLHI /DGLJD Trail, with cumulative donations totaling more than $23,000. The weekend kicks off Friday night with a pizza and pasta party for Cheaha Challenge guests sponsored by

0HOORZ 0XVKURRP DQG $QLPDO 0HGLFDO &HQWHU 5XQQLQJ enthusiasts rise early Saturday and head to the YMCA to participate in the Anniston Orothopaedics 5K. Many out of town guests use Saturday morning to explore the Chief Ladiga Trail and check out our museums and other attractions. This year, we expect they might bring their mountain bikes and check out Coldwater Mountain! The Sunny King Criterium is one of the headline events of the Noble Street Festival and features amateur bicycle racing from 10am to 9:30pm, with the last two races featuring professionals from around the ZRUOG 7KLQN 1$6&$5 DV WKHVH OLFHQVHG FRPSHWLWRUV race multiple laps in large packs around a .7 mile race course comprised of downtown streets. This annual event is a favorite among festival goers, as one can sample the wonderful cuisine offered by 12 local restaurants in a food court-type setting on Noble Street, which is closed WR WUDIĂ€F IRU WKH GD\ 7KH 6FLRQ .LG=RQH DOVR NLFNV RII at 11am, featuring many free activities for children of all ages, as well as larger rides that require tickets which FDQ EH SXUFKDVHG DW WKH IHVWLYDO 7KH .LG=RQH ZLOO Ă€OO almost two entire blocks of Noble Street! The Hot Blast Music Cafe will again feature talent from our local area, performing under a large tent on Noble with seating for 200. The ever-popular “just-for-funâ€? bike races for kids DQG WKH 0HOORZ 0XVKURRP 0DG 'DVK URXQG RXW WKH IXQ on Saturday as these youngsters pedal and run up to the Ă€QLVK OLQH LQ IURQW RI WKH FKHHULQJ FURZG

As chairman of the committees, I ask you to take special note of the committee member names listed below, as well as the sponsors. Saying “thank youâ€? just does not seem adequate. These are the folks who work for several months with many other volunteers to do the real work and make these events happen. The sponsors fund it. We all hope to see you during the weekend!

Lindsey Hinkle - 10am Lindsey is back in the HBMC for the second year in a row bringing her unique song styling’s and voice. She is a Calhoun County native who has opened up for Sugarland and Train. Lindsey is on Facebook and plays each Thursday at the Lone Star Steakhouse. She also has an EP called ‘Enough’ which will be available at her performance. We’ve all heard that old adage, “if you want something done, give it to a busy person, and it will get done.� That is an apt description of the businesses volunteering for Meals On Wheels.

Business Systems, Inc Story:

If you know anything about Meals On Wheels, you might recognize the name Richard Pope. When asked what made his company, Business Systems, Inc., special to this community, Richard’s response was succinct and humble; “I don’t really see our business as special to this community. Instead, I feel this community is special to us due to the fact that it has supported us since 1951 when my grandfather started Business Systems, Inc.� Richard further stated that his business is family oriented and strives to serve their customers in a manner that enables the customers to come to them with any need or concern. Trusting relationships are established between business and client from day one. And why do this business leader and his employees volunteer for Meals On Wheels and regularly show up week after week to deliver meals? The belief of Business Systems, Inc. is that God calls us all to serve those in need, and Meals On Wheels is one of

Meals on Wheels’ Heroes Are Among Us

Two recipients of Meals on Wheels are World War II Veterans. One, Dewey Simmons, was drafted at the age of 18 and trained to be a medic at Camp Barclay in Texas. Later he was sent to Europe where he served as an ambulance driver taking wounded soldiers to aid centers or hospitals in France, Germany, and Austria. Even though a large

Does it cost to attend? It’s FREE to attend! Many of the activities for kids are free, including hands-on art, Anniston Museum booth, Scion KidZone Stage shows, and more. There is no admission charged to attend the general festival or to watch the action-packed bike races. What about food? Twelve local restaurants will be set up on Noble Street under tents at what we call the Red Diamond Restaurant Tour. They will be offering lunch and dinner for modest prices from 11am to 8pm. Dining tables will be placed in the street so you can dine outdoors and enjoy the festival. Red Diamond will offer their famous tea and lemonade. Pepsi will provide soft drink options. Please do not bring your own food to the festival, but plan to patronize these local restaurants. A portion of funds you spend on food and drink supports our donation to Relay for Life!

We have more Pro Men’s teams registered than ever before for the Sunny King Criterium, creating a 7:30pm race that you will not want to miss!
