RESOLUTION NO. 12-R-____ A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH THE GOALS OF ORDINANCE 12-O-4. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anniston desires to ensure the long-term vitality, safety and sustainability of the City of Anniston, its residents, workforce, visitors, infrastructure and its future social, cultural, and economic enrichment; and WHEREAS, the City of Anniston is committed to addressing the current and future pension obligations of its public safety forces as they protect the people, property, workforce and quality of life of the citizens of Anniston; and WHEREAS, it is important that the City of Anniston collaborate and join with local education leaders to promote a viable and systemic education environment that creates access to learning, achievement, and opportunities for life-long success; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that the City of Anniston plan for future economic development that will enable the city to recruit, retain, grow and generate businesses, industries, and jobs; and WHEREAS, the City of Council of the City of Anniston has approved Ordinance 12-O-4 increasing the City’s sales and use tax rates by one percent; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Anniston, Alabama: That the Council desires the revenue derived from the approval of Ordinance 12-O-4 be used to accomplish the above stated goals in order to ensure the long-term vitality, safety and sustainability of the City of Anniston, its residents, workforce, visitors, infrastructure and its future social, cultural, and economic enrichment.
