Konecranes’s success
has earned it a place on the Nasdaq Helsinki (KCR).
Let’s look at what it takes to become the leader in material handling around the globe.
Services to Keep the World Moving
Konecranes is divided into three segments. Service, Industrial Equipment, and Port Solutions, each contributing approximately one-third of Group sales. The Group’s brand strategy is based on the corporate Konecranes master brand, which is complemented by the Demag and MHE-
Demag brands and a portfolio of freestanding power brands, including R&M, SWF Krantechnik, Verlinde and Donati. On top of that, TBA Group is also part of the Konecranes Group’s brand portfolio.
Konecranes Service offers specialized maintenance services and spare parts for all types of industrial cranes and hoists, whether a single piece of equipment or an entire operation. All while maintaining the objective of improving the safety and productivity of their customers’ operations.
Konecranes Industrial Equipment
provides an extensive range of industrial cranes, from components and light-duty applications to demanding process use and solutions that serve general manufacturing and various other process industries. They are the world’s largest industrial crane and wire rope hoist supplier. As well as a leader in technology with digital controls, software, and automation.
Konecranes Port Solutions
provides equipment, software and service for the container handling industry. Konecranes’s mission is to provide the world’s best container-handling solutions while leading the way in technology, process understanding,
and service commitment.
Konecranes Nuclear Equipment
& Services LLC provides its customers and partners with the services they need to keep their businesses moving forward. They offer every piece of material handling equipment used in a commercial nuclear power plant and radioactive waste facility. Some of these products include reactor cranes, turbine hall cranes, spent fuel handling cranes, fuel handling machines, spent fuel cask transporters, maintenance cranes and hoists, as well as low, medium, and high-level waste handling cranes. Additionally, they provide onsite service support for their customers.
Surpassing the Challenges with the Right Partnerships
Every industry has its challenges. Konecranes understands these
obstacles and knows that overcoming the challenges that face the industry requires working with only the best partners and personnel. One of the biggest challenges the industry faces is finding and maintaining highly trained and qualified employees.
With the idea that their employees are what keep the company growing into the future, Konecranes offers healthcare benefits, profit sharing, vacation time, and intense training. All of this is enhanced by the opportunity to grow outside of the organization into other parts of the larger company. Giving employees the incentive to do their best to achieve their most.
Working with the right employees is only half the battle of overcoming the challenges that face this rigorous industry. The other half is choosing the right
suppliers and vendors to partner with to ensure the company always offers the best quality products and services to its customers.
Konecranes stands out as the leader in the industry by offering its customers by showing them the value added by using its services. This is done by offering the simplest solutions to every problem that arises in a way that customers can understand. Konecranes also prides itself on solving the whole problem, not just part of it. Thereby giving their customers solutions that work for the present and well into the future.
On Time and On Budget
Meeting time and budget goals are paramount in keeping any company moving forward. Konecranes recognizes that the people it works with are key to achieving these goals. The elite group that makes up the employees at Konecranes works hard from the very beginning to help solve customer problems. Once an order is received, the entire organization is focused on every step in the meticulous process of completion. From engineering, project management, manufacturing, and installation
of its products, all the way to service and support after operations begin, each member of the Konecranes is constantly focused on safely meeting both company and customer goals.
In this process, focus is also put on modernizing existing equipment for changes in capacity, extending the life of the equipment, improving long-term reliability, and improving efficiency. Giving new life to existing equipment allows Konecranes to stay within budget limits and still provide the excellent quality its customers expect. They understand that
communication is critical during the delivery process to ensure everyone is on the same page and that goals are being met consistently.
Keeping an Eye on Safety
While staying within time constraints and on budget is paramount, safety is number one for all employees and customers working with Konecranes Nuclear Equipment & Services. The focus is doing it right the first time with the right people and the right tools. No detail is too small to evaluate to ensure our employees and customers are safe. We follow ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for risk assessments.
The Konecranes team, as a whole, knows the importance of safety on every job sight and at every moment. That is why every member of the team, from the first line of contact to the last inspection personnel, keeps an eye on safety at all times.
Projects
As a global company delivering projects worldwide, Konecranes has projects with the US Department of Energy and the US Department of Defense. Some of their most recent projects include:
• 140 Ton Special Purpose Jib for the US Department of the Navy. It is currently fully commissioned and operating at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Moving Tomorrow Today
Konecranes keeps its customers moving forward with a focus on safety, budgets, and quality services. But the company also understands the need to build a better tomorrow and give back to its communities along the way. This is accomplished by creating jobs for local communities, donating time and effort to building these same communities, researching and creating sustainable equipment to support future growth, and minimizing the footprint they leave on the communities they live and work in.
Some of the ways Konecranes achieves its goals of sustainability are through extensive research, diversity and inclusion programs, stringent compliance and ethics programs, mapping and planning
