Energy Modeling in Schematic Design - * WEBINAR *
Tuesday, February 9, 2016, 1PM-2PM Cost: Members $45 - Non-Member $55 As energy codes continue to raise the bar, energy modeling is becoming a fundamental design service. Recent introductions of web-based, real-time modeling tools allow for quick analysis of energy impacts during programming and early schematic design. This webinar provides architects with an understanding of different methods of energy analysis commonly practiced during early design stages. Pros and cons of each method will be reviewed, along with a discussion of common pitfalls to the successful implementation of each approach. A case study example using one tool will illustrate the types of design questions early energy analysis can inform including budget and space planning constraints. Learning Objectives • Recognize the value early energy analysis provides to the design process and client decision making. • Compare and contrast the different types of energy analysis tools and how each service type integrates into the project schedule. • Understand how decisions made during schematic design impact the life-long energy use of a building. • Interpret the environmental and financial information provided by energy modeling results.
