Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District

The Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District provides fire protection, emergency medical transport and special operations coverage to 36 square miles of area. The District proudly serves residents, businesses and visitors of Firestone, Frederick, Evanston and unincorporated areas of Weld County. The District currently employs 54 uniformed staff, 4 administrative personnel, and 10 reserve firefighters and cadets. The District’s four stations are staffed 24/7 with firefighters who are certified as emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The District responds to an average of 2300 emergency calls annually. While the Fire District is made up of several different divisions, the largest is the Operations Division which accounts for emergency medical response and fire fighting services. While these are the most sought out services, each medically trained firefighter has a special skill to which they devote many hours of training. These special, technical capabilities are known as Special Operations, which includes rope, ice, trench, confined space, building collapse, wildland firefighting, hazardous materials mitigation (commonly known as Hazmat), and surface and swift water rescue operations. Currently, the Fire District’s Special Operations Teams are made up of Special Operations Technicians spread out across the battalions. These technicians train on these specialized operations to be ready at a moments notice.
