strategically and start focusing on those platforms that will bring them instant returns,. We’ll look at each platform in detail and highlight the pros and cons for each of the 10 most important ones, including Snapchat and Periscope, as well as Blab and Vine. What one key tip would you offer a business-owner to help her work out her social media strategy? Give. Give. Give. And then ask for a sale. What I mean by this is that the content we create and share should be 80 per cent about our followers/prospects and how you can help them, and 20 per cent about you and your business.
The social media fit Through her company Marketology, Loredana Baranga helps businesses figure out which social media platforms best suit their marketing strategy. In our Q&A we ask her why social media can be so difficult. Why do some business-owners get stuck when figuring out how best to use social media? Most people think that if they keep throwing stuff about their business and products constantly at their audience, they should get the sale. The reality is that we should nurture those relationships and prospects before we ask them to buy anything from us. get to know your audience. And be aware your target audience might follow you on different platforms. Therefore don’t share the same content, at the same time, across all social media platforms. People will not appreciate it and you will lose followers. You’re running a course on social media next week – what will you be covering? I am quite excited to be able to run this workshop in Ealing as I feel local businesses need to look at social media platforms more
Q&A
You’re involved with plans for setting up a new West Ealing Online platform – how would you market something like that on social media? Because it’s an online community hub, Facebook will be the starting point, followed by Twitter to reach out to influencers. However, the power of word of mouth and other promotional tools should not be ignored. marketology.me @MarketologyUK MarketologyUK – Carlene Bender
