Churchfield Road good looks ACTON Above: Ellie Prohan (far right), founder of ProHands Hair and Beauty Haven has made her business a family one. While she runs the Beauty Haven in the basement of 71 Churchfield Road, mum Sonia (second left) is in charge of the Hair Haven on the ground floor. Her sister Noosh (second right), and Lidia Barton were also on duty when we stopped by on our Churchfield Road #ActonDayOut last week. “Ten years ago, when we started, this street was dead,” says Ellie. “Now it’s such an exciting place to be.”

who worked at home and are expanding, or looking for place to separate work and home-life, or for a place to focus. It’s fantastic being a Co Work Hub member, there’s a lot of space, there’s a plethora of knowledge and experience in one building, creating a powerful synergy of entrepreneurial understanding, and, very importantly, it’s great value for money in comparison to many other options. You’ll be exhibiting at the Acton Business Expo at Acton Town Hall on 19 May – who are you hoping to connect with there? I’m really looking forward to the Acton Business Expo and connecting with other businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals from in and around Acton.
Alex and his camera Click click, whirr whirr – look out for Alex Pemberton with a camera in his hand at the Acton Business Expo next week. In our Q&A he explains why now is a good time to launch his new business, Affluent Portraits. You’re normally busy with logo and website design (as @SociosMedia). So why Affluent Portraits, and why now? Affluent Portraits is all about professional portraits – helping people to look polished and proficient in their profile photos. I’ve helped a few people start businesses and have connected with a number of professionals on LinkedIn and I recognised a commonality across many types of profiles – the problem of having the right profile photo.

I love helping people, so I figured creating a recognisable brand would be a great way to help more people. You work out of the Co Work Hub in North Acton – is there a tech theme at the hub, or is it mostly artists or media, or builders and decorators, or what? What’s it like as a small business user of the hub? There’s a variety of businesses and people at Co Work Hub, which is great – mostly people
Q&A
Can you tell us about any of your current projects? Apart from Affluent Portraits, I’ve been busy creating videos with a charity based in Ealing called Acts 29. They help young people get closer to their dreams of being musical artists by offering coaching and development via an artist bootcamp. affluentportraits.com @weareaffluent – Carlene Bender
