INTRODUCTION As far as design work with containerised accommodation is concerned Australia is in its infancy. Internationally, it is used for density accommodation for motels, student accommodation and tourism through to quite unique housing solutions. Due to the structural integrity, modular nature and universal standardized transport methods, containers are an ideal component to develop internal spatial uses within and in particular to service the resource sector. Our design and construction have been at the forefront of assessing overseas solutions and transforming these ideas into an Australian answer. Due to our remoteness in Australia we have peculiar requirements, with the heat, intense sun, cyclonic conditions plus many other factors that demand a localized solution.

Intense work has been put into developing solutions that satisfy many of the growing demands of the resources sector. Its needs are changing from being satisfied to use the old ‘donger’ to now needing a more homely, private space for staff use after work. The structure also has to be robust to withstand the often harsh treatment given to these units by the users and remain transportable and reusable in new locations. To encompass all needs is a challenge when working within a rigid module such as a container. Previous failings in design and crass deployment of substandard units have earned containerized accommodation a less that glowing recommendation. Designers have played with modular, affordable components in this mechanized world for decades and now a solution has emerged that provides a suitable living environment in Australian conditions.

Due to the incorporation of added container doors externally, the designers have been able to encompass a fold out external private deck and roof shelter to each unit therefore enabling the use of glass doors and windows. Why is this so great? The internal ambience of each unit is enhanced and a private space is created, when in the event of cyclones etc. the deck and roof are folded back in and the doors are closed. Total protection! We have gone further. One of the great failings of container use in accommodation has been in insulation. This has been principally due to exposing the steel shell to the direct sun and heat. An instant sauna, the heat is dissipated principally by the use of insulation and air-conditioning. Utilizing high performance insulating materials coupled with technology from the insulation industry and the latest designs in air-conditioners, we are able to reach an overall star rating of 6.5 which is the resources industry bench mark.

There are many added advantages of using recycled containers in Australia, one of which is environmentally friendly credit points. A green solution! A fold down deck is also encompassed and built in at the factory allowing the individual rooms of the container units have a more homely aspect to them. As these components are built into the container at the factory, the whole unit can be delivered to and deployed on site, finished ready for use in approximately 1 day. Other building designs including offices, mess halls, commercial kitchens, laundries and ablution blocks can also be encompassed. These can stand individually or be incorporated into overall camp or institution designs which in turn can incorporate water/waste water treatment systems, solar systems and all aspects required to provide a fully functioning remote or localized establishment.

Materials: Structural steel frame and sheet steel external skin, R2.0 insulation with high tech reflective texture paint finish, high scratch resistant prefinished insulated board internally with 16mm fire resistant (fire check) gyprock, bathrooms acoustically insulated from main room, each room is acoustically and fire insulated from adjoining unit in accordance with BCA, bathroom floor tiles with waterproof membrane tanking, floors generally either floating, artificial timber, or carpet tiles, decks and walkways composite timber decking boards on steel frames. Uses: Resource sector camps, student and indigenous accommodation or any place where rapid deployment of essential accommodation is required.

PATENT AND COPY RIGHTS Background to the Invention: Shipping containers often have been refurbished to allow a person to have their own bedding, cooking area and bathing area. Generally, this option is preferred for long jobs where workers are required to remain on site. The construction of these containers does not provide an outdoor area for use by the worker, a solution to this is to include a tarp attachment similar to an awning to the container. The awning used may not be able to sustain high winds and can become damaged or be blown away completely. Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to overcome or to ameliorate one or more of the disadvantages of this prior art.

Summary of the Invention: The present invention provides temporary housing, including an enclosed rigid container body having two primary doors provided at the front end for access to the interior of the container body; one or more secondary doors, inner to the primary doors and closing the front access. The secondary doors can be glass sliding doors which can have security doors in place, to provide additional protection to the property when the primary doors are open; the internal ambience of each unit is enhanced, a private space is created. One or more flaps, hinged connected to the primary doors, which fold out as the doors are opened, and/or to the container body, to provide a stable roof and/or floor for an outdoor living area; a plurality of these access points can be included in the enclosed rigid body, while allowing them to be folded away to form protected access points. In the event of cyclones etc. the deck and roof are quickly folded back in, and the doors are closed providing total protection; wherein the temporary housing a plurality of compartments within the container able to form rooms therein, provides a secure means of comfortable accommodation; the living compartments can include a wet area having bathing facilities in the form of a shower and toilet (which can be a septic or chemical) facilities. The temporary housing is designed to be easily transportable as an enclosed rigid container body, also having anchoring means for anchoring the temporary housing at the transported location. A wheel base can also be connected to the base of the container body, to allow the housing to be transported using any large four-wheel drive, or other suitable vehicle. Therefore, it can be seen that the invention provides a temporary housing which gives a secure means of providing indoor and outdoor sheltered living areas, which can be easily transportable to different locations.

ADVANTAGES Architecture: Shipping container architecture is a form of architecture using steel intermodal containers (shipping containers) as structural element, because of their inherent strength, wide availability and relatively low cost. Shipping container conversions usually come in two sizes: 40ft x 8ft x 9.6ft high or 20ft x 8ft x 9.6ft high solid construction. Strength and durability: Shipping containers are in many ways an ideal building material. They are designed to carry heavy loads and support heavy loads when they are stacked in high columns. They are also designed to resist harsh environments - they are transported globally on ocean going vessels or can be covered in road salt when transported on roads. Modular: All shipping containers are made to the same standard measurements and as such they provide modular elements that can be combined into larger structures. This simplifies design, planning and transport. As they are already designed to interlock for ease of mobility during transportation, structural construction is completed by simply emplacing them. Due to the containers' modular design additional construction is as easy as stacking more containers. They can be stacked up to 12 high when empty. Transport: Pre-fabricated modules can also be easily transported by ship, truck or rail, because they already conform to standard shipping sizes. Availability: Used shipping containers are available across the globe. In cases where a company or country receives more containers than it can use to ship in the return directions these containers have no real use, since it is not cost effective to return empty containers to their origin. Cost: Many used containers are available at a cost that is low compared to a finished structure built by other labor-intensive means, such as bricks and mortar which also require larger more expensive foundations.

FILTRATION TANK SYSTEM For WASTE WATER (cont.) 1000L/D WASTE WATER TREATMENT DESIGN This project intends to adopt a new membrane - bioreactor (MBR) technology for domestic wastewater treatment. Treated sewage to achieve GJ 25.1-89 miscellaneous water quality standards, for the district's environment, washing, car wash water etc. Project simple instruction as below: 1, Waste water flow rate 1 m3/d; treated water to meet domestic water use quality standard: CODcr ≤ 50mg/l， BOD5 ≤ 10 mg/l， SS ≤10mg/l 2, The waste water flow process is as below: Waste water → separate mesh → regulating reservoir → MBR tank → self-priming pump → discharge water 3, Summary of treatment process: The waste water is collected by the pipe, it enters the sewage treatment stations; it is filtered by separate meshes; it removes the sediment, impurities and domestic garbage, then enters the regulating reservoir which is to be used as a tank of acidulate; the tank is equipped with microaeration, and suspends the biological filtered media, while in contact with the oxidation tank. Then enters the aerobic biochemical tank. The aerobic biochemical tank membrane uses bioreactor technology, it has been installed with a hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane. The water then passes through the biological treatment and membrane filtration and is up to water discharge standard, through the self-priming pump, the water can then be discharged . MBR： MBR Tank of dissolved oxygen is greater than 2.0mg / L, sludge concentration of 5000mg / L, ~ 8000mg / L, and low sludge load, loading the MBR process inherent in the function to protect stable discharge of the water; 4、Each treatment function is as below: (1) Mesh: after the mesh treatment, mainly removing matter such as rice/paper/ residue, particle material, etc., which is principally filtered by the mesh, sedimentation and rubbish should be cleaned regularly according to the instruction manual; (2) Regulating tank: when domestic waste water is not discharged regularly, water quality & water capacity is unsteady; as a result, the main use of the regulation tank is to reduce the power usage for the next process; (3) Aerobic oxygen Biochemistry Treatment tank: during the waste water treatment, the main pollutant of the waste water is COD and BOD, NH3-N etc., which is mainly consumed by microorganisms; that means, the microbe reproduction process consumes lots of COD & BOD from waste water, this is the basic principle of the waste water biochemistry treatment. (4) Biochemistry treatment is sorted as: lack of oxygen, which is named anoxia (hypoxia) Biochemistry treatment; requires plenty of oxygen, which named Aerobic oxygen Biochemistry treatment. The hypoxia biochemistry area is mainly used for the degradation of macromolecular organic matter and denitrification, removes NH3-N. Aerobic biochemical part by aerobic bacteria in the oxygenated case, leading to the biochemical effects, reduces COD and BOD from the water.

The MBR process is a combination of membrane separation technology and biotechnology new waste water treatment technology. It uses membrane separation equipment to cut down and keep the activated sludge and organic molecules of biochemical reactions in the first tank, therefore cutting down the organic molecules in the secondary settling tank. Therefore, the concentration of activated sludge can greatly improve; the hydraulic retention time (HRT) and sludge retention time (SRT) can be controlled separately, while the refractory material in the reactor responds and degrades. Therefore, the film - bioreactor process through the membrane separation technology greatly enhances the functions of the bioreactor. Membrane - bioreactor technology superiority compared to traditional technologies： 1, Pollutant removal efficiency is high, resistance to sludge bulking ability strong, stable and reliable water quality, effluent with no suspended solids; 2, Membrane bioreactor design achieves a complete separation of the SRT and hydraulic retention time HRT, which greatly simplifies the operation; 3, The divided effect of the three membrane mechanical machines can avoid the loss of micro-organisms, it can maintain a high concentration of sludge in the bioreactor, which can increase the load volume, and lower sludge loading, as the MBR process and secondary settling tanks are omitted, greatly reduces space; 4, Because the SRT is very long, the bioreactor also plays the role of a sludge nitrification tank, thereby significantly reducing sludge production and low costs of sludge treatment; 5, Due to the divided effect of the membrane, the SRT is extended, and is conducive to slow the proliferation of microorganisms. Due to the nitrifying bacteria growth environment, it can improve the nitrification capacity of the system, at the same time helps to improve the processing efficiency of refractory organic macromolecules and promotes their complete decomposition; 6, The MBR aeration tank of activated sludge has low water usage for production, during operation the changes of the activated sludge and the concentration of organic matter reach a dynamic equilibrium, which makes the system water stability and resistance to impact the load characteristics; 7, The hydraulic cycle that has led the uniform mixing of the sewage, thus activated sludge has good dispersion, greatly improving the specific surface area of activated sludge. Activated sludge in the MBR system is highly decentralized is another reason that improves the water treatment effect. TESTIMONIAL It's not every day you get to eat dinner in a big steel box on the edge of the harbour. There are seven of us. Three on the couch, another on the floor with his plate on his knees, two more guests on chairs and one child in the bedroom out the back. It's rather intimate but high on novelty value. There's wine and lemonade all round as we celebrate my first night in an 11.8m x 2.35m x 2.6m shipping container. It had arrived 10 hours earlier on the back of a truck. "Where d'ya want it?" the driver asked as he jumped down from his cab. We chose a quiet corner of Rozelle Bay next to the Liquidity restaurant and only metres from the luxury motor yachts moored in the marina. The driver pushed the buttons on a remote control unit and hydraulic arms at each end of the truck raised the four-tonne steel box, swung it outwards and lowered it gently onto the bitumen. A 1000-litre waste-water tank was attached to the rear of the structure. Electricity cables were snapped into place and the steel shutters covering the windows rose. Someone handed me a front-door key and wished me luck. Thirty minutes after its arrival, the shipping container home was ready.
