MARIAVELIA SAVINO, CHIEF CURATOR For the past years, Contemporary Art Projects USA has included the curator figure in all its events and exhibitions; one of its major initiatives being the creation of a curatorial assessment and support program that encompasses the artist’s trajectory of a work from conception to completion. This mentorship is based on a one-to-one relationship between the artist and the curator where the artist expresses ideas, intentions, and reflections about the creative process that initiates a cooperation between them that develops into a project rather than an isolated piece without a totality. Each project is created according to the theme determined by the institution or fair where it will be exhibited, in that way, the curator figure in Contemporary Art Projects USA develops a comprehensive group of projects for each exhibition; as is the case with Art Palm Beach 2017, where collectors, art lovers, and visitors will be able to appreciate an expertly orchestrated solo and collective project– all under one curatorial guidance, yet cognizant of and attentive to each artist’s unique creative process. It is our firm objective to continue to nurture and expand this curatorial services with our creative artists so that we can help them grow their careers; especially where it pertains to emerging artists. J. Margulis’s display begins with four colorful wall pieces that interact with the viewer, creating vibrant kinetic effects. Two Gold slides pieces, whose elegant unique kineticism will attract and enchant, are followed by two kinetic artworks that by color and transparency create a surprising effect of change and movement transporting the viewer to a new dimension. Centered on specially made pedestals, three kinetic towers shine with their beauty and constant changes, capturing the viewers’ eye. Multitalented J. Margulis excelled as photographer to later develop his present conceptions of unique 3-D sculptures. Following the path indicated by great last century masters of the genre, Venezuelan Jesus Soto, Russian constructivist and kinetic pioneer Naum Gabo, and Italian Alberto Biasi, Margulis brings us to new optical dimensions created by kinetic art. It was told that the master of painting Diego Velazquez (1599-1660) was able to depict the air surrounding his subjects, today we can say that J. Margulis is the master of "kinetic air", as in his sculptures he makes viewers to taste the inaccessible, the ethereal, and the transparent that trough his vibrations fulfill their feelings with surprise and excitement. There are two qualities that I like in Margulis artworks: their delicate insinuation and refined elegance; which position them in the category of unique original artworks that are at the same time beautiful, as well as intelligently conceived pieces of science. I conclude with the artist's words: “I believe that courage, empathy, and kindness are all
ingredients in a powerful and elusive formula, which arms us with a clean and ever sharpening lens that catches fleeting glimpses of our true nature; small fractions of divine understanding that reverberate in our essence with the power to shape our deepest beliefs and completely change our perspectives, and so, the way we act in the unfolding of our own existence. My work is about the physical representation of this belief. I digitally design 3-D objects and compositions and cut them in slices from different types of plastic sheet materials. These slices are then fixed to a rigid canvas, a pedestal or held together in space. Most of my work is done using acrylic sheets with different levels of translucency in a range of colors, graphic patterns, textures and photographic images directly printed on the sheets' surfaces... I treat my three-dimensional pieces as light traps or secret blueprints, in which by controlling the placement of its components I'm able to create intriguing 3-D containers. These exposed patterns and designs are not absolutes or unique, because as the viewer changes his point of view, the work expresses a different narrative that is completely new within its own essence. It intrigues and fascinates me how the object mutates in front of me, with no other resource but a simple change of perspective...” Mariavelia Savino, Chief Curator

Robin Apple says: “Most of my artwork is organized around the sentiments I'm
feeling at the time I create it. As a psychologist by training, awareness of emotion is a primary tool that’s second nature for me. It’s informed by but takes precedence over content, location and situation. I created the series ‘Soar’ including ‘Blown Away 1’ and ‘Blown Away 2', while spending time at a nature preserve close to a community airport. I was intrigued by the comings and goings of small private planes and helicopters against the vast backdrop of nature and sky. The ascents, descents and holding patterns reminded me of the ups, downs, and stalemates that we all experience while living our lives. The beauty and the emotion of the flight patterns moved me. To express the breadth and depth of the experience I included, both, black and white and color images in the full ‘Soar’ series (a collection of more than 10 images); the two selected for the Art Palm Beach exhibition incorporate black, white, and color tones. I used my iPhone6s-plus for capture and post-processing, using a variety of applications, and created a video of ‘Soar’ set to the music of “State of Independence” sung by Chrissie Hynde.”

Brian Blount lives in Santa Fe. Young artists moved there in the 1970’s, Blount was among them. His studio became an artists' gathering place. His collages dominated the art scene through the 1980’s with unique images of suggested landscape forms that captured the attention of the international art world. The artist says: "My work is a narrative of torn, touched, used, loved, discarded and
forgotten fragments of art, ephemera and objects; a mystery of moments, almost remembered."

Ricardo Cardenas says: “My autobiographical work: “PARAMO” reunites
elements from my structural engineer profession merged with creative concepts inspired by the artistic movement: “Arte Povera.” I narrate events of my life expressing feelings and beliefs using the building materials: concrete and steel. PARAMO, from the Latin “paramus”, describes an arid desert at a certain altitude; somber, ignored – plagued by fog, rain, clouds, rocks, and wind – where loneliness becomes evident. PARAMO reunites life energies that men connect with their gods; incomprehensible forces that can’t be dominated. The PARAMO is cold like the concrete of my artworks. I painted deep thoughts provoked by tragedy and despair during the worst moment of my life. The lines at 45 degrees signify the thoughts’ positive or negative nature. The white crossed lines are lights that mark the hour in the search for equilibrium. In real life, concrete won’t hold without an internal steel structure. In the artistic image, concrete is life’s hardness and coldness; unbearable without the internal strength of the steel perceived through windows that are as a person’s internal x-rays.”

Rajvi Dedhia Unadkat explores the interior world expressing its emotions, feelings, and nature with color, form, line, and texture.
"I am intrigued by the way an artwork conveys that which often cannot be spoken and is perhaps better left unsaid. Words can be a problem, but there is no misunderstanding in a painting. It is honest and straight-forward, a one-off communication of the soul that defies judgment of feelings. High-strung or subdued, joyful or agitated, there is room for all of it in a painting. It is the expression of the vastness of our interior worlds not seen in everyday life, but felt as very real."

Adriana Dorta, born in Caracas, Venezuela, has a bachelor's degree in Business and studied Visual Arts in the American Art Institute of Miami. From early age, she developed a great inclination towards the arts, inspired by the effects of light through shades and color in the stained glass of France's old cathedrals, like Chartres and Notre-Dame en Vaux. The artist shares: "... As an adult, I now
perceive my paintings as a form of multicolor light through precise lines that reflect the influence of my passion for stained glass and how it reflects the straight lines that move throughout the day. That's how I try to transmit the magic that can only live in those sacred windows." Adriana Dorta has also a great passion for geometric abstract art, as can be viewed in her artwork on show at Art Palm Beach: Totem Series: Native Dreams. It is interesting to highlight that geometric art has been one important tract in the art of native cultures in The Americas, as well as in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. These primeval artistic languages also inspired the international great masters of Kinetic, Optical and Geometric Abstraction such as Yaacov Agam (b. 1928), Josef Albers (1888– 1976), Kenneth Noland (1924–2010) and Frank Stella (b. 1936); from which Dorta draws great inspiration. She has cleverly studied and reinterpreted them, reaching new dimensions and unique creative conceptions through her exquisite and innovative artworks.

Switzerland-based/American born artist and writer, Kelly Fischer creates vibrant multicolored and powerful artworks, such as the exquisite "Lighting Bolt" on show at Art Palm Beach 2017. Kelly says: "The colors that one chooses as an artist are an unveiling of our
creative personality. My intention is to provoke and present evocative artworks that leave an imprint on the soul... Color forces us to see things differently and does have an impact on the viewer... Shades of grey help to grasp and pay attention to line, shadow, and texture. But, the most significant feature is the strength in the piece itself... I developed a passion for painting and storytelling at young age... Over time painting challenged me in a way that nothing else ever had. I get a lot of satisfaction out of creating whatever I want... no rules or boundaries... Writing and painting are different, yet the same. My dream is to reach a larger audience... The support received in both, Europe and the States, is influential in helping me to forge my career.’ “Lightning Bolt is a new illuminated path that Kelly Fisher is presenting to her viewers and followers.

Attila Konnyu Art, placed as Art Informel, the European parallel of American Abstract Expressionism, includes abstract and gestural tendencies developed in Europe during World War II. The French term describes an approach to paint by improvisation as methodology and a high gestural technique. French critic Michel Tapie used the term “art autre” (other art). In 2000, the movement opened to New Informalism. When Karel Appel meet with Konnyu in the late 1990's in Europe, she told: "Create your paintings with strong, wild gestures and do it with
a pure heart! If you please, shout with the power of wild colors, but create your paintings with the honesty of the sleeping child in you!” Attila, born in 1963, Budapest, resides in Palm Beach, FL. He studied architecture at Ybl Miklos University and worked with Hungarian Television. His fascination with Abstract Expressionists brought him to the School of Art of Miklos Kolozsvari Grandpierre. Upon meeting with the Tachisme, from the French word tache (stain), and artists he held in high regard, Karel Appel (CoBrA group) and Emil Schumacher, Konnyu begun his new gestural painting with a calligraphic aspect of his selfexpression. He made his international reputation traveling in Europe and America; exhibiting in numerous galleries. His work is in the permanent collection of the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest. Attila’s Sculptures are influenced by Henry Moore. Yet, he takes his shapes further, as gestural abstractions where the material is shaped by hand, by modeling, working the shapes in clay; even leaving fingerprints behind. The process gives his works an organic feeling. The shapes may refer to human or animal figures. Konnyu distorts and breaks up the form, sometimes leaves it behind. The cast in bronze interprets the subject in its essence.

Lolo Loren, born Lise Lorraine Gelderman in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, signs her art with LL that stands for all the L’s in her names and life. Today, Lolo lives at Ibiza with her children. Inspired by the island, the light, the objectivity of the people, and the absolute tranquility versus the bohemian party scene, she found her place to live and to paint. Looking for new inspiration through fashion, people, colors, internet, the sea, the beach, the sand, a party – everything she saw or experienced, when you look long enough - you will discover hidden faces or items or things to see which are not seen or seen differently by others; suddenly appearing without purpose. From painting came photography. Her interaction with the camera position and her feelings in that moment determine the final image. Lolo’s only goal is that the images let you explore your own thoughts and desires.

Born in Havana, Cuba, J. Rovira Ramirez came to Key West as an exile and has lived in Miami for the last 53 years. It was during an art class in 1973 that she developed her joy for art. She has been blessed with wonderful teachers, such as the two-world renowned Cuban artists Baruj Salinas and Yovani Bauta, who challenged her to improve her techniques and develop her own style. She remains very enthusiastic about her art and the opportunity to interpret each piece in her own way. She has chosen horses as the subject for most of her artwork, because they inspire her to display a range of emotions and styles in her paintings; like the spirit of the animals, and the quiet or savagery of a landscape. Rovira specializes in acrylic painting, together with wood, clay, paper or other mixed media to achieve sculptural effects on canvas or on wood. Her artistic imagery is at the borderline between figurative and abstract. Horses are her Muse and her stimulus. She applies deconstruction in her artworks elevating the horses’ presence. Admiring the excellence of the Arab horses breeding she uses to name her artworks with words inspired in the Arabic language, although if they are frequently written in Spanish; as the two artworks on show at Art Palm Beach entitled Alboroto I and Alboroto II.

“In this series, I explore the issue of ‘Beyond Consciousness’ or Oneiric Theory. In my representation of oneiric content I use camera motion technique to extend the narrative. Dark spaces allow the imagination, while light reconstructs the space. The aim is to present the viewer with dreamlike emotions. It questioned me for days if it was real or if it was a dream. The dream was of exploring the city at a very fast pace, so fast that I could not feel my feet or see the others; it seemed as if they were on wheels, the colors kept getting stronger and it felt like déjà-vu, the feeling as many times before; like a nightmare, because no one was familiar. That hot day in which the temperature rose above the 100-degree mark plus the rush of the city at 3pm gave the ‘Beyond Consciousness’ feeling in addition to that was the perspective and technique from which I took the pictures.”

"To create my sculptures, I use marine-grade stainless steel that is cut on a band
saw. The metal is then grinded down to smooth the edges. After this process, I sand the stainless steel from 50 to 400 grit, and next buff it out with rouge. Then, I start to form the metal around organic objects and jigs that I previously created. When the metal reaches a form to my liking, I sand it out; polishing it again to achieve the mirror finish. The balances of my sculptures are strictly done on a trial and error basis. They are kinetic and move for several minutes with one touch. The pivoting point is a stainless-steel bearing. I use geometric forms in space to interact with negative space, creating movement of light and reflections of the surrounding area. My final product are timeless art pieces." To achieve the highest level in his unique celebrated sculptures, Gary Traczyk, who is a contemporary renowned and internationally collected artist, attended the New World School of the Arts in Miami and an International Art program in Italy.

Michele A. Utley-Voight says: “I am driven by the human condition. I find myself
compelled by the stratums of circumstance, choice, emotion, and fate combined with the energy and influence of the past as all, conjoined, lay prism to the future. The interconnectedness of all elements of all time. What is seen and not seen. Known and not known. Contemporaneous, interacting and incessantly influencing one another in a continuum of the past, present, and future. The entirety exists concurrently. I paint for history; to render the human relationship with eternity, to demonstrate that the human reality as we experience it is bound to the continuum of time. My works are the complex language of layering multiple levels of imagery representational of our complicated existence. Through my process, I expose beauty that outlives barbarity and splendor that transcends from tragedy. I am a storyteller.

Rosaria AESTUS Vigorito says: “Among the issues I address with my art, are those
concerning my gender; including the role of archetypal figures such as the goddess. Historically, the archetype of the goddess has been the symbol of fertility and childbirth. Yet, it has also been the symbol of sexuality and sensuality. My piece, The Goddess, is an archetypal homage to these different facets of the feminine. She is shown with her unabashed and confident self-awareness and radiance. She seamlessly is connected to the spiritual and carnal realms. Possessing among its many attributes, The Goddess is an iconic elevation of the feminine in all of its beauty, complexities, and manifestations.

“As an artist, my first love is sculpture. The tactile nature of the medium, the
physicality of the process, and the third dimensionality of the forms have always interested me. One Winged Beauty is a derivative work from one of my Italian Carrara marble pieces. Although maintaining the form, I have extended my vision of it to a contemporary format, translating it into a blue version that not only stands on its own, but also complements my digital mixed media collage, The Goddess. One Winged Beauty is a metaphor for the beauty that persists, even with the marring that life, oftentimes, throws at us. Borrowing from images of antiquity, as in this instance a fragmented female angel, the figure bears a broken wing; yet also a caressing and proud extended wing. In spite of all of life’s difficulties, “One Winged Beauty” is a testament of eternal beauty, defiance, timelessness, and strength. “

Henrik Welle says: “After an hour boat ride, we finally reach our destination. It was
pitch black by then; only the stars and the boat lights letting me see our location. Open ocean, and in the far distance, the shadow of a deserted island. For me, the night dive always starts with a funny feeling in my stomach when I must jump into the black liquid, rolling underneath the boat. After I organized all my lights and camera gear in the water, and start my descend. The funny feeling disappears and is replaced by calmness and amazement. The colors are incredibly vivid; from bright reds to neon yellows. At a depth of about 40 feet, we just cruise along the reef wall. It feels like I am flying, looking down into the blackness and out of reach of the lights. A while into the dive, I come across something that looks like a steal wire that spirals horizontally away from the reef wall into the darkness. When I get closer with my camera searchlight, I see the full beauty of the wire coral. They open their tentacles to filter the water for food in the current and I set myself up for a shot. It looks like illuminated barbed wires. It is not an easy task to get the right position. Controlling my buoyancy with my breathing, fighting the current with my big camera rig, getting the right angle and not being able to hold on to something, makes this a bit difficult. Especially for a macro shot, I have to get very close, without touching and damaging this fragile creature. After a few minutes repositioning, myself, calming down my breathing and some test shots, I finally get this one.

Hungarian born artist, Agnes Zaszkaliczky, studied at the Bartók Béla Conservatory in Budapest, Hungary, and later graduated from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, country where she lives today. Agnes studied painting at the Repin Academy St. Petersburg in Finland. She had talent for both, painting and music, that she merges in her extraordinary artworks. You don't need to be a music scholar to see the music in her paintings. Agnes makes music when she portrays a musician friend or an admired one, while playing their music to complete her painting's inspiration. The chosen colors harmonize in her clean, modern/classical compositions, for which she likes to choose a "sound color. " She uses this color as background combined with an abstract geometric design that gives the "tempo" and the setting for the impeccable hyperrealist portrait that she will do of the musician in action. The contrast among portrait and background creates the perfect rhythm for the overall painting that is at the same time great in technique and unique in conception. Agnes created illustrations for publications of concerts performed by the Lappeenranta City Orchestra, 20082011 and for 100 Hungarian folk songs by Rózsavölgyi publishing. Selected Individual exhibitions: 2016, Vienna, EGA Frauen im Zentrum. 2015, Vienna Parliament, and Szentendre, Music School - Színvarázs. 2014, Vienna Salon BeLLeArtTi; Budapest Palace of Arts exhibit of commissioned paintings for the Annie Fischer Anniversary and show at the Embassy of Hungary in Vienna. ONE MIND/ALTERNATE REALTIES Digital Photography Special Project by Ileana Collazo| Cuba/USA
“One Mind/Alternate Realties” Digital Photography Special Project will support Art Synergy, a countywide movement to unify and promote the diverse culture of Palm Beach County’s vibrant arts community. Through “Love of Philanthropy,” her philanthropic chapter, artist Ileana Collazo/Contemporary Art Projects USA will donate a portion of the art sales revenue to the organization. Ileana Collazo says: "I paint by smearing surfaces with the language that floats inside
my brain, I take photographs by cutting out the world - except for that little portion of it that I choose to capture in the frame - and create digital art by juxtaposing this, that, and the other thing, like I would like to have the ability to do in my own life… I take photographs - sometimes of obvious things, others of things we overlook - like what is tossed roadside, a section of something that catches my eye - then, I digitally mix and match the images to create the finished work. When I paint, I allow colors, shapes, and movement guide me to express the language that floats inside my brain.”

CURATORIAL PROGRAM Contemporary Art Projects USA has been including the curator in all its events and exhibitions - one of its main initiatives being the creation of a program geared at providing curatorial assistance. To mark the interaction between artist and curator the Program makes emphasis on 3 general elements: 1) EVALUATION 2) PRODUCTION 3) SUCCESS Artist and curator examine and point out the sources of inspiration and main goals, either for an individual artwork, for one series, or for the overall of the artist's body of work. The Curator will use a straight forward critical method to reach positive action, uplifting changes or improvements; as well as a direct interaction between message, communication, visual creation, and exhibition feasibility of the art, taking in consideration sales possibility for diverse scenarios. To implement the thought that each artist is unique and will create its own niche in the Art World. Our lemma, is: "Contemporary Art Projects USA, where
