Interview with Comedian Rob Warner By Wanda Julian
Rob: May I ask a question first? Wanda: Of course! R: I’ve noticed that your magazine focuses on travel and luxury lifestyle, and I’m curious why a comedian would peak your interest? W: Well, I’m trying to broaden the six things that the magazine is about, and also when I come across interesting people, it kind of depends on their schedule, but the last few months especially I’ve been trying to line up interviews. Last issue Julie Lake was on the cover, and she’s on my favorite show Orange is the New Black, so I was elated when she said, “Yes.” So I’m trying to do more interviews and talk to people I’m really interested in, and because part of the magazine is entertainment, I’m trying to do more. So we have six main focuses: fashion, beauty, entertainment, food, travel, and luxury lifestyle. I love social media too because you get to meet a lot of new people like Stacy Lane Matthews from RuPaul’s Drag Race, who was in the last issue, and we’ve been friends since shortly after the show aired. We started talking because they would do viewing parties where you could talk to the queens on Twitter, so I got to know her and Mystique, who’s been in the magazine before. So when you followed me, I saw your acting reel and I was like, “This guy has it.” Then I saw you were doing the movie Stone Fruit and I got super excited about that. “This is gonna be super amazing,” I thought. I joke and say, “If they made a gay divorce court, I would be the happiest girl ever, because it would be so, so good.” So I need to watch that. I loved your acting reel, I saw your resume and thought, “This guy’s awesome,” so I just messaged you saying, “Hey, I wanna interview you!” You know like when you see little kids and think, “That kid’s going to be a star, or a singer, or whatever,” because they love it so much? When I saw your acting reel, I was like, “This guy has it.” I have a feeling you’re gonna be a big star or whatever you wanna be, that’s what you’re gonna be. R: Wow, thank you! W: You’re welcome! You’re super funny and I loved looking at all of the things that you’ve done, like the plays. I saw you were in a Shakespeare play and was excited about that because I love Shakespeare. In fact, I’m not sure why I didn’t ask about that in my written questions. So you do a variety of things, which is always good for anything you want to do because people look out for that. R: Well, thank you.
W: What do you love about writing? R: I love being a storyteller, so I like telling stories that aren’t necessarily being told in a way that I appreciate them. There’s a lot of great tv and films that sort of touch on LGBT themes, but a lot of that world really hasn’t been explored properly because of hesitation from the people with the wallets regarding characters like that. So I love getting to tell my stories and friends’ stories. Honestly, I like your energy and think we share a similar sentiment. I just like to make people laugh. If I could do nothing but perform, write, and bring people the giggles on a regular basis, I’d be a happy man. W: Right, I’m very LGBT friendly. In fact, we’ve had two transgender women on the cover in the past. Morgan was our first, and Shinata was our second, both during the summer. They’re both gorgeous and have amazing personalities, and their stories are amazing. I try to get the RuPaul’s Drag Race girls in the magazine whenever I can, so I’m a huge fan. Also, I squealed when I heard Will & Grace was coming back. Karen and Jack are my favorites. R: Yeah, there’s a viewing party around the corner for me. It’s the “official” launch party for the show, but I don’t think any of the cast will be there. You never know, though. W: What do you love about being an actor? R: Similar answer. I think one of the things I loved about filming Stone Fruit was seeing a different point of view and connecting with another human on a level that I hadn’t necessarily experienced. Not to give too much away, but it’s pretty clear in the description that it’s about two men who go to Wine Country and put a final pin in their relationship and get divorced. But with any relationship, the characters want different things and so there’s a struggle, a lot of old fights are rehashed, old passions revisited. I got to embody a character who fell in love with somebody they thought they knew, and through growing together discovered that they had separate paths to take in life, but there is still a lot of love there, so there is a lot of scenes where we are fighting but you have to find the love in every one of those scenarios. Getting to be in that body and explore those emotions was incredibly powerful. I wear my heart on my sleeve all the time, so I wouldn’t call myself a method actor, but I do love to sort of dive in and say, “Okay, how can I experience what this character is experiencing,” and then be able to play that with another character is really life-altering. On the page, whether it’s Shakespeare or another play, there’s a similar sentiment. But I also love just being wacko-pants crazy. I do a lot of sketch comedy and improv, and I love playing characters that are completely insane in a good way, just totally silly, or kind of creepy in a way that enables somebody else to be funny. Just getting to explore those characters and have fun with them, honestly.
W: What do you love about being a comedian? Did we already answer that? R: I sort of answered that before, but I’ll say it again: I love making people laugh. When I was choosing this career path- I was in technology in Silicon Valley for five years before moving to L.A and when I was moving here, I had some reservations. You know, anybody does when they’re having a big life change. As a comedian, there’s sort of a stigma around dramatic actors being, well, not more legitimate, but like there’s something harder about being a dramatic actor which I don’t think is true. They’re both incredibly difficult crafts in their own right. I grew up doing a lot of theatre and playing dramatic roles and I still love to play them, and Stone Fruit is a great opportunity to play both because it’s a more grounded comedy with dramatic and comedic roles. I remember vividly when I told my dad I wanted to be a comedian, he said to me, “The world needs comedians more than anybody, because comedians make people laugh when they would otherwise only have reason to cry.” It was such a life-affirming thing for him to say, but it sometimes feels frivolous to laugh and get people to laugh when there’s real danger, real tragedies in the world- god knows there’s a lot of shit in our world right now, but sometimes you need to laugh. We’re humans, we need to experience the good and the bad, and so if I can do my job in helping people laugh when they would otherwise cry, I think I’m making the world a better place. W: Okay, so tell me about Trump In Space. R: Trump In Space is a comedy musical that originally when up at the Hollywood Fringe Festival about two months ago and was picked up by Second City for a premium run, which means that we get a really great time slot: Friday nights at 8 for three months at Second City here in L.A. If it does well and people are still buying tickets, then they’ll extend the run. We had an amazing director, Frank Caeti, who directed the longest running show at Second City, so hopefully we can get a similar give at it, not anywhere beyond that. It’s a great opportunity to laugh when you would otherwise cry. It’s a musical in the style of Avenue Q in that the music is bright and jaunty but diverse. It has heavy allusions to Star Trek themes, so we all wear our Trekkie uniforms and imagine that we’re in a spaceship. So there’s Star Trek themes and great music- it’s very Broadway feeling. It’s 400 years in the future, and the world has exploded. The liberals and conservatives are all searching for Polaris IV, which will be their new home if they can find it. Trump, or the Executive as he’s referred to, is still around, bossing around the descendants of Jeff Sessions and Jared Kushner in their quest to defeat the liberals. The show starts similar to Star Wars actually, where the Trumps- as we’re called- have captured the liberal separatists and have locked them in a tracking beam and are bringing them onto our ship to interrogate them. It was a lot of fun and very sketch comedy heavy, with some really good and sophisticated music with good harmonies. I encourage everyone in L.A. to come see it. It’s just a great hour long escape from the woes of the current political situation by imagining it 400 years in the future. W: What do you love about improv? R: I love improv like I love sketches since it’s fun to play characters. The thing I love most about improv is getting to find a point of view in a character. The whole thing with improv is you’re making shit up as you go, and the only guiding force you have is if you declare where you are, what your relationship is with the other person, what you’re doing- that’s all great, but the only thing that forms what you’re gonna do correct in the scene and where a conflict might arise is your point of view. What does your character think about the situation they’re in? What is their relationship with the other person? What have they always wanted to tell the person
that they’ve held back all their lives, and is the moment to do it? It’s really fun to go, “Okay, if this is my point of view, what am I gonna do with it,” and to play those games. It’s weird when you watch improv and somebody who wants to kill somebody all of a sudden loves them if they don’t justify it, because then suddenly they’re like, “I’ve loved you my whole life. I wanted to kill you but now I want to be with you.” Then they’re given this opportunity to love each other and this character is given a projection that is so fun to watch. It’s so fun to be in this character’s mind like, “Okay, I wanna kill her but I also love her. If she doesn’t love me back, then maybe I’ll go back to killing her.” It’s just fun to embody those points of view and play a silly game with that. W: I know we talked a little bit about Stone Fruit before. Do you know when it’s going to come out? R: Not yet. I believe it’s currently being edited before submitting it to festivals. Hopefully it will premier in film festivals early next year, then it’ll be released whenever we can lock down a distribution. W: So, what are some dreams that you would like to achieve? R: I think my dream is to be able to live and support myself doing what I love, which is comedy, acting, and writing. It’s really as simple as that. I don’t need a ton in this world other than plenty of Social Security and a partner who loves me. But yeah, Trump In Space and this sketch comedy troupe I just joined at iO West, which is one of the big comedy theatres here, they’re so much fun and they get me out of my comfort zone, and getting just silly and fun playing with other talented people and working with other people to create amazing comedy. If I could do that on a regular basis and put a roof over my head, I’d be a happy man. W: What are you passionate about? R: I’m passionate about the things I’m currently focusing all of my energy on, outside of acting, comedy, and writing. Racial justice obviously is really prevalent. My whole life I’ve been involved with LGBTQ youth and doing my best to volunteer at organizations that help young people who are coming of age and struggling with their sexuality or identity to deal with that and to provide however possible. Right now there’s so much that needs to be done that’s so terrifyingly urgent about the racial issues in our country. Not just extreme cop killings and a 14-year-old boy who was lynched recently- I think he survived, but it’s that behavior that’s coming to the forefront with social media and awareness with the larger population that’s willing to bring it up, but it’s also the privileged population that’s more inclined to bury their head in the sand with these types of things. I have a lot of predominantly white friends who say, “Oh I can’t read those news stories because they make me sad,” or “I can’t go to that protest because it’s so angry.” Those are truly persons of privilege: they can ignore these issues because it doesn’t affect their lives on a life-or-death basis every single day. We and I include myself, as white people can do way better in undoing the systemic racism that has been established in our country over centuries of slavery to civil rights to Jim Crow. We need to recognize the inherent racism that we all carry, that we go through every day, and do everything we can to overcome them and to teach others to be better as well. That’s something I’m really passionate about, and something I’m hoping to work on more here in L.A., not just working at an organization level and supporting organizations or causes that fight racial injustice and further movements, but also educating friends and family. I think it’s really important to talk with people and not let them get away with blasé answers and avoiding uncomfortable conversations because no change is going to
come from allowing these things to remain. It needs to be challenged, and I do my best to challenge it every day. Obviously, there’s more to be done. W: Right. I was raised to believe that you love who you love, and that’s that. We should learn to respect each other more, and it makes me sad that things are the way they are now. Wow, we got into a heavy topic here. Well then, where would you like to be in five years? R: Geographically? W: Goal-wise. R: I’m gonna rush my timeline, since it’s hypothetical. In five years, I’d like to be fully supporting myself doing tv and film acting and comedy. I’d say splitting my time between L.A. and the East Coast, either Boston or New York, because my parents live and Boston and my brother’s in New York, so I have a lot of family on the East Coast and as much as I love L.A., I do miss the East Coast, so I’d love to have the luxury of spending part of the year in both cities. I would love to have a partner who I love and who supports me as I do him. I’m not so fixated on marriage. It might come at some point, but more I just want to find a partner who I really love and can have a healthy relationship with. Also, continuing to dedicate time on causes I believe in. There’s still a lot to be done in this country and hopefully I don’t lose sight of that if my career takes off, which I hope it will. I want to make sure I stay grounded and humble and do my best to support others.

Zoey Kinsman Many have often asked me why I write. I’ve written for as long as I can remember. As a child and young adult, I started off writing poetry and then transitioned into storytelling using prose as the vehicle. With fond remembrance, I can easily recall an essay I wrote in middle school on the meaning of love. The work foretold a desire to express all things from the heart and about the human connection we desire from each other. I believe when you look back to earlier times, the writing is always on the wall. Your passion will have made itself known. Just look. For me, it was really about a great love of working with words. As a baker likes to put fine ingredients together to see what goody he can create, I feel the same way about words. What will I get when the words are measured out just right? Will there be feeling, imagery, and a sense of touch, smell or shared memory? I’m determined to create something that will illicit consideration and will long linger after the read is done. This is my personal passion. A Certain Connection is my very first published novel and therefore holds a special place in my writer’s heart. A mentor of mine once said that the characters of any novel are just waiting for you to pluck them from your imagination and tell their story and so it happened with Mel and Asher. They came to me very easily. This is a relatable story of a resilient woman who could overcome pain, sorrow and longing for a family tragically lost. Asher, the hero, is every man. Sometimes, from my own reading experience, romance novels tend to forget about the male plight. Here we have a man who is in his mid-thirties aspiring to make it in the world of theatre. He has sacrificed much in his life for this dream and then, when he least expects it, he falls in love. Can he balance work, career and love? Many men have this difficulty and we see Asher’s emotional confliction and his ultimate resolution. I think my most favorite times of their togetherness is when they spend part of the summer up north at a cottage in front of the lake and their Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. These are quite cherished moments in their story. Oh, and we can’t forget about the great sex. Mel is one lucky lady!
The title came from the fact that these two have a kind of knowing about each other. What makes them work is the synchronicity with each other. They can finish each other’s sentences, know each other’s needs and communicate well sexually and, with some work, emotionally as well. But one partner starts to take the other for granted and that’s when the deeper work needs to happen. As if a mirror to each other they are a mirror to the reader of realistic life and love. It’s all about making that certain connection with another. Magic can happen anywhere. For them, it was on a Saturday night in a New York City bookstore. My first two novels are on Amazon.com A Certain Connection can be found on Amazon at : amzn.to/1QiC15u
Beckoned By The Mist, a paranormal romance, is my second novel. I absolutely loved the idea of an immortal true love rushing through time for one last chance to reconnect with his lost love from the Scottish 1600’s. Maxwell MacGregor made a deal a very long time ago to fight in a brethren of immortal warriors to be with his one and only love Eve Campbell one last time. What would we do for love when challenged? This is their story of hope and reunification. Beckoned By The Mist can be found on Amazon at : amzn.to/2fyoT5k I’m proud to announce that my third novel is coming out later this year and I am always writing. For those that love the written word as well, I encourage you to continue even when the road ahead is uncertain. If you love it, it will happen. Write from a place of passion. That’s my best and most sincere advice. Please check out my web-site at www.zkinsman.com and the first ten readers to email me and mention Contessa’s Court magazine will receive a free copy of one of my novels. Happy reading! OPT FOR CHILI WHEN CHILLY WILLIAM MALTESE
Sixty-degrees Fahrenheit in the spring can feel downright toasty when preceded by winter weather dropping to below-zero. Sixty-degrees Fahrenheit in the fall, though, preceded by days of consecutive summer temperatures in the nineties, can provide the incentive to begin moving cold-weather clothing out of storage.
When I begin waking up to any thermometer reading dropped into the forties, as I did just the other day, being as geologically situated as I am, my mind automatically turns not only to thermal underwear and wool sweaters, but to the inside-warming goodness-graciousness of homemade chili.
In fact, as soon as my morning temperatures in the forties arrived, this year, I was quickly in the kitchen removing the package of ground bear meat from the refrigerator where I’d put it to thaw in anticipation of just such an occurrence.
My choice of ground bear meat wasn’t only because I’m gathering recipes for another cookbook, #8, this one on wild meat, but because I happen to have a generous friend whose generous husband is actually an ace hunter. Luckily, for readers, though, without generous hunter friends, the following chili recipe doesn’t necessitate ground bear, or ground venison, or ground boar, or ground elk, or ground antelope, even ground moose (all of which I’ve used as one of its ingredients at one time or another); the end result is just as tasty using whatever the readily available hamburger found in a local grocery store’s meat section.
Chili for the Chilly Cooking spray 1 pound ground meat 1 cup chopped sweet onion 1 cup chopped green bell pepper 4 garlic cloves, minced 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped 2 Tablespoons chili powder ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground cumin ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained 1 (14-ounce) can fat-free, low-sodium chicken broth 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained. 2 green onions, diced Spray the bed of a cast-iron skillet with cooking oil and place the skillet over a medium-high heating element. Add ground meat; cook and stir for 3 minutes or until browned and crumbly. Remove meat from skillet with slotted spoon. Cover the removed meat and keep warm. Reduce heat under skillet to medium. To emptied skillet, add onion, bell pepper, garlic, and jalapeño; cook 10 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Stir in chili powder and next 3 ingredients (through black pepper). Add cooked crumbled ground meat; diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and tomato paste, stirring until well combined; bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes. Add red Kidney beans; cook, uncovered, 15 minutes. Remove from the heat. Garnish with diced green onions. Serve.

Interview with Movie Music Composer Gareth J. Rubery By Wanda Julian
Wanda: How did you get started in music? Gareth: I started from a very young age by constantly being around music at home. My Mum would play piano and sing, my Dad would blast brass band music loudly from the stereo (when he wasn’t practicing euphonium solos) and we’d always be singing together in the car - my wife and I still do that! I was about 7 when I had a brass instrument thrust into my hands but I’ve heard that when I was tiny I had a mouth piece instead of a rattle... W: I love it! I sing in the car as well. I love to sing. What instruments do you know how to play? G: The first instrument I go to when composing his piano as I can transfer what I write onto most other instruments. I also play the drum kit, and although my lip needs to be kept trained, a bit of brass. I tend to be able to get some kind of sound out of most instruments but for most films I prefer to hire people who have made it their focus for 20 or 30 years-they tend to do a great job in recording sessions! W: Oh how exciting! I really love music so much. I could not imagine a life without music. G: It’s always good to have a little sing in the car :-) W: How did you start composing for movies? G: I play piano, drum kit, my lip needs some serious training again but I can play brass instruments and get some kind of sound out of most instruments. When I want real specialists for certain instruments like, violin, cello or woodwinds, I work with people who have spent the last 20/30 years making it their life. A few directors in LA heard my work and asked me if I would compose music for films that they were working on… How could I resist? Also my solo work is available at my website: http://garethjrubery.com/ where people can become a member, for a very reusable price, and instantly get everything that I make.
AND people can listen on their devices using the free Bandcamp app that’s available on iOS and Android. W: What a great answer! That is so awesome! What are you passionate about? G: I spend most of my life wanting to be with my wife, somewhere hot, with a vibrant history. Living in England we are passionate about finding sun of course! Time with family and friends is what life is all about, where memories come from, and music is at the top of my list after all of those things. For me music is a safe place away from other things that aren’t so beautiful, forgiving and engaging, where I naturally and passionately go to fully immerse, come alive and feel like me again. W: Where would you like to be in 5 years? G: I’m happy right here. I’ve never been so happy in life. I’m incredibly blessed by the people around me and I can’t imagine it getting much better, but I’m always open to suggestions. Professionally I’d like to look back, after five years, and see a longer list of brilliant directors I’ve worked with and the fascinating words they asked me to be a part of creating. I tell you what let’s make a date - five years from today let’s have a cuppa and I’ll fill you in? Music available at http://garethjrubery.com - this is where you can become a member and get everything I make instantly using the free Bandcamp App. Alternatively, which leaves Gareth little funds to contract musicians for future albums - iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/gareth-j-rubery/id987847457 Twitter - https://twitter.com/garethjrubery (@garethjrubery) Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/garethjrubery Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/garethjrubery/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/garethjrubery

Interview with Award Winning Actress Angela Dixon By Wanda Julian
How long have you been acting for? I can’t quite believe this but I have been acting for 20 years now. What do you love about acting? Many things. I love the sense of connection and community you get with working creatively and intimately with other people. When it really works, I love the sensation I get of using every single bit of myself, my mind, emotions, psychology, physicality, past, experiences and current state. It forces you to be 100% present and when you are, amazing things happen. What was it like being in Never Let Go? Never Let Go is not only a roller coaster to watch it was a roller coaster to make. I knew that it was my chance to prove that I could lead a film so the pressure (mostly, but not all self-inflicted) was intense. During the shoot there were many things that went wrong which is common with Independent film as you don’t have the budget to minimize the risk. I had beautiful dialogue scenes cut because it appeared to be difficult to get actors in Morrocco. We had to rely on people literally plucked off the streets or bringing in people we had met along the way. When one
character turned up for a key dialogue scene it became apparent that not only was he not an actor but he didn’t understand a word of English. He was shaking with fear. I sat next to him with a translator to explain that I would support him, that all he had to do was to look me in the eye and let me do the work and hopefully he would be moved to respond in a way that would read well on the screen. That scene took over 10 hours to film. He was practically in a coma by the end of it and I was a few pounds lighter. We were hunted and chased by police, hounded off a beach by locals who misunderstood what we were filming …... and so it went on. And amidst all of this, it was a joy to work with Howard J Ford. I call him a filmic Alchemist and when you read what I’ve just shared and then see the film, you may begin to understand why. It really is a miracle what he has managed to achieve. His incredible talent, bravery and determination to carry on against the odds and his beautiful creative heart and soul are intertwined in the fabric of Never Let Go. What was it like to win Best Actress for Never Let go? I was so honored to win the Best Actress award. In conjunction with our award for Best Independent Film at the National Film awards it really was a boost to know that people related to and liked what we had done. We had worked so hard – it was a relief to know that it wasn’t in vain. What projects are you working on now? I have literally just got off the plane from filming an amazing commercial for Thomas Cook, directed by Christian McKenzie and Patrick Che from Park Pictures – quite possibly the coolest directors ever, the shots looked fantastic. Over the summer I acted in Tom Paton’s [Pandorica, Redwood] indie sci-fi action film called ‘Black Site’ where I play the head of an Alien deportation unit. She’s a sarcastic, no messing boss lady which is such fun to play.
Any upcoming projects for us to be on the lookout for? I am currently filming ‘Homeless Ashes’ a British feature film created and starring Marc Zammit, with Jason Flemyng, and Lew Temple. This time I am playing an abused wife and mother of a boy who runs away from home. A very different project but again great to play. I love my job. What are you passionate about? I am passionate about many things. Top of my list is resolving conflict and understanding our part in it. For me Drama is a wonderful way of shining a light on our lives and helping us to cope with it through laughter, analysis and recognition. Where would you like to be in 5 years? I would like to be working creatively with like-minded individuals in great quality projects that have real purpose. I would like to be involved with an organization that promotes the resolution of conflict. I would hope to be living somewhere beautiful surrounded by nature perhaps by the sea, near mountains or both. I will be painting and drawing more. I will have learnt the art of slowing down.

DARE TO LOVE IN OZ CONTESSA’S COURT: Firstly, despite LOVE in its title, and the de-rigueur sparks between the female protagonist and a male character, as well as the book “blurbed” as having a story-line in which ROMANCE AND ADVENTURE COLLIDE, we found this one enjoyably as much a genuinely traditional thriller as anything else.
WILLIAM MALTESE: Great, since that’s exactly as I intended. I’ve been a fan of the thriller-genre from way back when, my first published article in a men’s magazine having detailed my accompaniment of a treasure-hunting expedition into the South American Amazon Basin, between my junior and senior years at university; so, you’ll find a lot of the “thriller element” in a lot of my published works.
CC: Speaking of your published works, is it right that have more than two-hundred novels to date?
WM: Two-hundred-plus, and counting. Elements of adventure even apt to occur in my cookbooks, like EVERYDAY GOURMET: A MEMOIR, where I wasn’t content just to provide recipes, but accompanied with the little adventures, usually in foreign lands, which led to my discovery of the various highlighted dishes. Tunnel-vision “thriller” books of mine can include a romantic element or not, a female protagonist or not, depending upon where I let the evolving plots take me, during the writing process. In the case of DARE TO LOVE IN OZ, there was enough for the publisher to capitalize on both in an attempt to entice female readers, who seem to love love and female leads.
CC: A lot of your books incorporate exotic locales, and, while Australia isn’t as exotic as say Zanzibar, the site of your adventure/romance novel AFRICA: SPICE-ISLAND LOVE (which you wrote as Willa Lambert), you provide “Oz” with even more on-the-edge-of-your-seat exoticism by exposing your readers to the outback, a toxicology lab socked in by a monstrous sandstorm, poisonous snakes on the loose, as well as a killer on the rampage.
WM: I seem to have gained a reputation for providing insights into other countries that might not be had from other authors, priding myself on usually having been first-hand to most everywhere about which I write; except, of course, in the case of my sci-fi books that don’t see me, alas, having been to any of those exotic alien worlds.

Sedalia Designs was founded in 2009 when CEO Marcy Schoenborn moved to Sedalia Colorado. After a long history or being in the wholesale jewelry industry supplying boutiques in Michigan and Colorado Marcy decided to take the company to Direct Sales. There are many reasons for this change. Marcy has a background in Direct Sales and worked with several companies, promoting and doing well but always felt she wanted to do more than the companies offered to others. As an example; Sedalia Designs offers a completely free business start up so people who can't afford to start a business but want to work can have a business. The company offers training to teach anyone interested how to run their business on line. The move to Direct Sales was also inspired by the need and want to help more charities. With every sale their is an allotment set aside that helps any legitimate charity that asks for help and this is growing all the time with the obvious growth of the company. In 2017 the company celebrated 3 years as a direct sales company and launched in several countries adding Australia, New Zealand, UK and ROI to our list of USA and Canada. There are many things that make us unique, we are wholesale to the public while most direct sales companies charge more than store pricing. Marcy didn't see the need to increase pricing as she has always had an issue with the very high mark up on costume jewelry. We also stock over 2000 designs and plan to be known as the best place to shop when you need gifts or jewelry for a new outfit that won't cost a fortune. Our line boasts many styles and we have a few catch phrases; "any style and every budget", "friends don't let friends pay retail for jewelry", but the most important one is; "who can we help and how can we help them?" As this is written we have a consultant roster of only 1500 across the countries we sell in. Our goal is to reach into the hundred thousands and we know this is possible because everyone wants a great price with great quality. Marcy considers everyone in the company, from the jewelry designers to the consultants part of he Sedalia Designs family. In her own words "nobody is more important than anyone else, including myself! We all contribute important components that add to the success of this company!" If you have been looking for a company with huge potential and a great foundation based on hard work, dedication, honesty and integrity; look no further!

Interview with Actor Kevin Leslie by Wanda Julian
How long have you been acting for? I’ve been acting professionally for about 7 years, since my graduating role as Dracula in an adaption of Bram Stoker’s novel, at the lighthouse in poole. I did shows at school and continued my training at Arts University Bournemouth but didn’t do any pro work until summer 2010. What do you love about acting? Ha ha there must be something because I keep coming back for me even though it is an extremely difficult career choice. There’s various things but one element I really enjoy is understand the human psyche and getting into the mindset of a character. Understanding our relationship with the world and each other. Why characters might make certain choices at certain moments, what motivates us etc. Another element (that I’ve been fortunate with) is travel, I love when a project includes travel. I’ve filmed in places like India, Africa, Europe etc which I’m very grateful for as I’ve got to see parts of the world whilst doing what I love. That’s what it’s all about right?
What was it like being in Rise and Fall of The Krays? One hell of a roll-a-coaster! It’s been amazing to play one of the most iconic gangsters in British history especially around the same time as Tom Hardy. We shot both films back to back in an 8 week period, I was cast just 5 days before we started filming. Which was very little time to get prepared but a good challenge. It was tough to not let these characters bleed into your everyday life, I mean you’re playing a kingpin for 14 hrs a day for 8 weeks so it was a little difficult at times to switch off and completely come out of character, as a few people may know who bumped into me on the tube, apologies for that if you’re reading this. That wasn’t me it was Reg lol Tell us about The Doorman. The Doorman is a 45 minute pilot we have shot as a proof of concept and hope to team up with one of the big outlets, Amazon, Netflix, Sky etc to create the rest of the series. The basic premise is it’s a spy thriller about a man (The Doorman) working for an organisation to pass messages and parcels between hotel guests. He gets in way over his head when a certain object comes into his possession whilst searching for one of the guest who he believes has gone missing. What projects are you working on now? There’s a few exciting things coming up. At the end of the month I begin filming a horror ’13 Graves’ where I play Frank a hired hitman https://www.13gravesthemovie.com Then the end of the year I should be
heading out to the states to film a feature called 'The Mob Priest’ and then start of next year should hopefully be filming one of my own projects that I’ve been getting off the ground with a very talented director friend of mine Patrick Ryder and we’re teaming up with the one and only Glen Kirby at West One Entertainment. Any upcoming projects for us to be on the lookout for? There’s a couple. All here - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3690698/ but yea I’ve got 5 or 6 features I’m waiting to be released all varying one’s a Romantic Drama, another an Action Thriller and a Sci-Fi Horror. What are you passionate about? For me in film I’m passionate about the story. I’m very keen on strong untold stories usually where the character is overcoming many obstacles, hence earlier in the interview about the human psyche, with these obstacles to overcome what keeps that character going. I’m also passionate about helping people, people who don’t have equally opportunity because of where they’re born or grew up. One day I’d love to start a foundation that sponsors a child each year to go fulfil their dreams in the arts, maybe that’s by paying for their training or buying the equipment they need to produce the work. The arts is a big part of my life and shaped me into the person I am today, even if you don’t want to be an actor, I believe studying drama at school is a must as it develops so many skills from opening up your creative mind to being able to interact with people.
Where would you like to be in 5 years? I’m not sure a bit of a tough one as I try not to look too far in the future or the past as it can be daunting and just try to live in the now day by day but I suppose in 5 years I’d hope I’m healthy both mind and body, I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, making movies & hopefully some tv work and maybe have even started my own family. So, Tell Me Dahlink Do you look at a Martini glass As half full or half empty? by Brenda Burgett A half full or half empty glass has been a measure for a while. It is meant to be a gauge as to how optimistic a person views thing. Being competitive, it was a practice to treat the test much like an eye examination. It was not to be failed. So, it was a half full person wanting to convince no one in particular of unreal optimism, while living a darn close to empty glass existence. Eventually it became ok to not memorize the eye chart. At some time, it was clear that it was not a competition to impress the person doing the eye exam. It wasn’t important to the examiner whether my eyes were good or not. I won in my own thinking, but couldn’t seem to enjoy the imaginary victory. If you are now thinking that you have never play those games, I would like to introduce some thoughts for your consideration. How about the time you put the wrong weight on your driver’s license? Have you ever been caught arguing with someone not present, while driving or perhaps showering, and been caught? Have you ever felt slighted or left out of something? After voicing your opinion does it bounces back at you as sounding shallow or petty? Alright, maybe I’m reaching the half full or half empty glass thinking and going beyond? In my defense, I was a slow learner when it came to giving up on the perfection thinking. Growing from a shy child mode, I unwittingly became a performer. It was the era of size matters. Small waists and ample bra sizes were an attribute. If you didn’t quite measure up, you could change it without being called out. It took more than a few knocks to the head to really get - how unimportant most opinions were and are. It should never be said that self-help or well-meaning suggestions shouldn’t be given some consideration as to how it may or may not improve your life – or not improve it. Maturity has allowed me to use discernment in self-analysis. For example: I only have a nice day – when I want to! I don’t allow myself to believe that when I’m allowing a hard day, that anyone else could have it worse than me, I usually don’t have to prove anything to the driver next to me who would like to cut me off and crowd ahead in traffic. Please notice that I said usually. So, to wrap this little piece of trivia up I would like to say this - I will enjoy my martini in a crystal glass and will call it full or not. I will adjust my queenly crown and enjoy my small private Island, while savoring my martini and life! It’s good to be queen!

Haute Men’s Fashion William Maltese TIME OFF? These days, telling time has turned into a mere glance at our cell phones. I just remain hopeful that our future doesn’t hold out the complete obsolescence of the long-time timelessness of the timepieces that have come before our so-heavy reliance on our Electronic Age do-dads.
Not, unfortunately, that jettisoning “classy” has ever seemed to stop the march of time if and when the majority of men hop on the same bandwagon. No matter that there’s something about a cell-phone read-out of time that just isn’t as classy as with the assist of a regular watch worn on the wrist, or one hung from a chain with accompanying watch fob.
We men, who have often found fashion dictating that we need opt for far fewer accessories than our fashionable female counterparts, would do well to hold close to what few de-rigueur accessories we have left, rather than allow another, like the wrist- or pocket-watch, to slip into oblivion.
A friend of mine tells the tale of buying a new Rolex® wristwatch, with a red crystal covering the face that, more often than not, provided a glare in natural sunlight that prevented him from seeing the time of day. He took the watch back to the dealer for a replacement, only to be told: “But, Mr. H, that Rolex® of yours isn’t just a timepiece. It’s a piece of fine men’s jewelry.”
There’s just something genuinely pleasing about seeing a man with a pocket- or wrist-watch. I’ve one of the latter, a Piaget®, of which I’m so fond, as regards how it looks when I wear a tuxedo, that I still wear it when dressed to the nines, even though it stopped running on the plane on the way home from Copenhagen two days after I bought it, and it has been in Switzerland, for repairs, more often than I’ve personally visited that country.

Interview with Multi Award Winning Director Patrick Ryder By Wanda Julian
How long have you been directing for? I have been directing since 2009, seems like a lifetime ago!. My first film won a National Award at The House of Commons in front of BAFTA, Lionsgate, Universial and Paramount, and from that point on I got the directing bug. What do you love about directing? Seeing a story come to life. An idea, a single spark is always how a script is developed. It evolves and changes to the point where it is as concise and well rounded as a story as it can be. Then directing that story on camera, editing, and showing the finished film to an audience, I find it massively exciting and really interesting as it can always go in so many different directions. I have always had a fascination with ballet. Your short film Behind The Veil is so cool. How did you come up with the idea to do this short film and what was it like to direct it? Dance and movement for me is a form of magic. To see a dancer perform such beautiful elegant movement is absolutely fascinating. In 2011 I directed a dance short called 'Shift', this went on to win around 7 world wide awards including one given by Madonna herself. It wasn't so much that I am an expert in dance, I am not, but I can direct, edit and tell a story and the dancer in many ways becomes the catalyst to tell that story without words. Ballet is such a technical form of dance. Every move, every shape is practised to perfection. Behind the Veil was a film where I wanted to show the performance behind the performance. The daily routine a dancer will run through behind the scenes that the audience never see, but is more personal and expressive in many ways.
An Open Window was fabulous. I got so scared and screamed a couple of times. How did you come up with the story and what was it like to direct it? The idea first popped into my head when one of my kids woke in the middle of the night. I went to check on them, but as I passed the living room I could see the shape of a figure standing my the window. Turned out it was just a jacket hanging on a door lucky for me! but I just liked that idea of a silent figure creeping around a house. Mirrors are also known as doorways to other worlds in many myths and again this played on my mind as to how to develop a story with that idea developed. I am also a massive fan of The X Files, a show which not only became a huge part of my upbringing but also as a director it has constantly cropped up as a theme. I really liked the movie HUMAN. Can you tell us what the movie is about and what it was like to direct it? I wanted to make a film which was full of hope. So many sci-fi shorts focus on the negatives about the human spirit and condition. The end of the world, post apocalyptic landscapes... but I wanted to make a film which was uplifting, showing that a human being even in their worst moments can turn things around and help another. It was the longest post production on any film I have worked on, every shot had lighting effects, grade effects and a vast library of foley effects. Alex Phillips and I developed the suit ideas well before the film too, and several months were spend designing and creating the suit which I am very thankful to Alex for. What was it like to win 8 awards for HUMAN? We have actually got to 9 now, we won Best Actress Award for Nadia Lamin's brilliant role of Mari at the Rob Knox Film Festival Recently. It is an honour, and I am very proud of the success the film has garnered. Each and every film I direct, I try to surpass the last. Whether it is on a technical level, or a story telling level, I have to have a reason to make the film. Human was a completely different look and style from my previous projects but also allowed us to tell a very touching almost childlike film which seems to have grabbed peoples attention.
The Doorman Trailer looks amazing! I really want to see it! Can you tell us what the movie is about and what it was like to direct it? Cheryl Neve is a remarkable writer and actress. She approached me with a script concept and a one page script sample. I loved it and asked her to come back when she had a full script. And that is exactly what she did and instantly I wanted to get involved. The film is an espionage thriller which follows a hotel doorman and his involvement in a large conspiracy. It was a joy to work on with a brilliant cast and crew. We are currently completing the edit before pitching the film as a pilot to a larger series. Again it was such a different style of film, that is what attracted me to the project, to create a story I have never tried to tell before. The CHIMERA trailer has me so intrigued. I cannot wait to see the movie! Tell us about CHIMERA and what it was like to direct it. Chimera is a psychological thriller, a dark brooding story which hopefully will capture the audiences imagination. It is also a film with huge plot twists! cutting the trailer was hard enough as we couldn't show half the film to avoid those shocking revelations. I wanted to direct a really strong character piece, so to strip back on sfx and focus on a human element, to tell a story that really pushed the actors involved . It wont be an easy film to watch for the audience as we take them to very dark places, and that is the beauty of film, it can take the audience on such unexpected journeys. What projects are you working on now? So I am currently in post production on three films, deep in edits... lots of coffee mugs on every desk. In the next month or so there will be screening announcements hopefully for some of the completed films and I will announce those once we are ready.
Any upcoming projects for us to be on the lookout for? Yes, one particular film. I cannot unfortunately say much more than it is by far the biggest film I have worked on and if we can secure everything needed it will be an absolutely beautiful, powerful and heart felt film which will surprise many people. It is in many ways a natural step from my previous films this year. I am officially keeping schtum :) What are you passionate about? Film is one of my very big passions, it has inspired and influenced me since a little boy. But beyond that, my family always comes first. Seeing my son and daughter's reactions to life, experiences and the world is a beautiful thing.
Where would you like to be in 5 years? Hopefully telling the same interesting ideas and stories but to a bigger scale and to a wider audience. As a director you are constantly developing your skills and your craft, and in 5 years I have a feeling that impossible script might just seem a lot more possible. Info about me and Tupperware I started with Tupperware in January of this year. Right away i had a business thay was thriving. This has allowed me to stay home with my kids and enjoy all their activities with school and after school events. I t has given me the freedom to be the mom I want to be. What i am findingis the new generation remembers growing up with all these classic pieces and want to have them for their familyas well. Tupperware's quality goes above and beyond. Theystand behind most their products with a life tine warranty.
Company History Tupperware was developed in 1946 by Earl Tupper. He developed plastic containers used in households to contain food and keep it airtight. The once-patented "burping seal" is a famous aspect of Tupperware, which distinguished it from competitors. Earl Tupper invented the plastic for Tupperware already in 1938, but the product only worked with the emergence of the sale through presentation in a party setting. In 1949, Tupperware introduced the 'Wonderlier Bowl' that gave a start to a revolutionary range of kitchen utensils. Tupperware pioneered the direct marketing strategy made famous by the Tupperware Party. The Tupperware Party allowed for women of the 1950s to work and enjoy the benefits of earning an income without completely taking away the independence granted to women during the Second World War when women first began entering the labor market, all the while keeping their focus in the domestic domain. The "Party" model builds on characteristics generally developed by being a housewife (e.g., party planning, hosting a party, sociable relations with friends and neighbors) and created an alternative choice for women who either needed or wanted to work. Brownie Wise realized Tupperware's potential as a fun commodity. She realized, however, that she had to be creative and therefore started to throw these Tupperware parties. Wise, a former sales representative of Stanley Home Products, developed the strategy. Tupper was so impressed that Brownie Wise was made vice president of marketing in 1951. Wise soon created Tupperware Parties Inc. During the early 1950s, Tupperware's sales and popularity exploded, thanks in large part to Wise's influence among women who sold Tupperware, and some of the famous "jubilees" celebrating the success of Tupperware ladies at lavish and outlandishly themed parties. Tupperware was known—at a time when women came back from working during World War 2 only to be told to "go back to the kitchen"—as a method of empowering women, and giving them a toehold in the postwar business world. The tradition of Tupperware's "Jubilee" style events continues to this day, with rallies being held in major cities to recognize and reward top-selling and top-recruiting individuals, teams, and organizations.

Interview with Four Time Survivor Player Rupert Boneham By Wanda Julian I am such a huge fan of yours Rupert. What was the process like to get on the show? I made a 3 minute video and answered crazy questions about my life. I sent those in and got chosen! Pearl Islands is one of my favorite seasons because of you. What was it like to be on Pearl Islands? I felt like a kid in a candy store when I was on Pearl Islands. I loved it!
All Stars was awesome too. What was that experience like for you? Being the first one to do back to back Survivors was a great experience.
I was so happy when we could vote for you to win a million dollars. I voted as much as I could for you! What was it like when Jeff announced you won? Winning the million dollars was my best Survivor moment ever. Can you tell us what Heroes VS Villains was like?
Heroes/villians: After breaking three bones in my foot and setting them myself in the first hour of the game, the next 36 days were very difficult.
Blood VS Water was an interesting season too. I thought it was amazing for you to trade places with Laura so she could compete. What was your experience like on Blood VS Water. Blood/Water: I have to say I really didn’t like giving up my place in the game for my wife but I knew it was the right thing to do. Would you go on Survivor if they asked you again?
I would go back on Survivor in a minute if they would let me. Tell us about your Charity Rupert’s Kids.
Rupert’s Kids is an organization working to keep our young men and women out of the detention centers. These young people are not violent criminals. They are the ones who have made stupid decisions such as drug abuse, alcohol abuse, etc. We want to give them the opportunity to learn to make a legal living and are working on the final steps of creating a true re-entry program that includes housing along with vocational training, social skills, financial literacy, and counseling services. The goal is to help them become responsible members of society making a legal living and contributing in a positive way to the community. For more information, please go to www.rupertskids.org or rupertskids facebook. Can you tell us about the arcade?
Our arcade is a cool place for young and old to hang out and play games. The arcade can be rented for private parties making it a great place for birthday gatherings. It is a vocational training site disguised as a game room where we teach business management, social skills, and customer service. Come
