I’m a huge foodie so my favourite part about my job is showing my travellers all the amazing food that Asia has to offer! I know all the best street food stalls in Thailand, and it doesn’t take long for my group to realize how delicious, cheap and healthy Thai food can be! Even if I still live for ice cream...
If you had a normal day of travel you’d be like ‘I’ve got to book my taxi from the airport, make sure I don’t get ripped off, find out where my hotel is, try not to get lost, get to the next place, find somewhere to eat that’s actually good, plan our activities’. When you travel with us, I sort it all for you so you can relax.
I run trips in India and Sri Lanka, my favourite countries in the world. When I first visited Udawalawe National Park I knew my travellers wouldn’t want just to be in a hotel nearby. So I took care of our glamping by the river for two nights. It’s a real highlight!

Please adopt physical distancing and hygiene practices throughout your pre-trip travel arrangements and follow all health instructions whether physical signage, or requests from our professional staff, once you are on vacation with us. To travel with Contiki, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Full details of hygiene protocols can be found on our website. Force Majeure: Force Majeure Event means any event or circumstance beyond the control of Contiki, including but not limited to: (a) an act of god (such as earthquake, flood, fire, explosion, landslide, lightning, action of the elements, force of nature, washout, typhoon, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami, storm or storm warning or natural disaster); (b)
BOOKING CHANGES Name Changes: Contiki does not charge for name changes or name corrections, however where third party costs are incurred these will be passed on to the guest. Other Booking Changes: Contiki does not charge for minor booking changes however where third party costs are incurred these will be passed on to the guests. A change of trip date or itinerary after final payment is due (see Summary Booking and Cancellation table) will be treated as a cancellation.
Cancellation by Contiki: Contiki reserves the right, to modify or cancel any trip, accommodation, in-destination activity or arrangement at any time. Cancellation due to Failure to Pay If full payment is not received by the due date (see Summary Booking and Cancellation table), Contiki has the right to cancel your reservation and no refund will be made. Contiki will not be responsible for lost reservations. Cancellation due to Force Majeure Events If Contiki cancels a trip as a result of a Force Majeure Event, a future travel credit (FTC) to the value of funds paid to date less any third-party costs incurred will be provided. All FTCs will be valid for 24 months from date of issue. Where a trip is terminated mid-trip due to a Force Majeure event, if we provide you with any alternative services or assistance (such as hotels or travel) then you agree to pay for these costs. Cancellation due to Events other than Force Majeure Events If the cancellation by Contiki is not as a result of a Force Majeure Event, Contiki will provide an alternative comparable trip (if available) if an alternative is not available then a refund will be made. Contiki is not liable for any cancellation or change cost or penalties incurred on other travel arrangements, including air travel, that may be affected thereby. Contiki is not responsible for other travel arrangements that you or your party have made outside Contiki and which are affected by our cancellations.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS Cancellation by Traveller: Travel arrangements for any member of the party may be cancelled at any time by written notice by the person who made the booking. If notice of cancellation is received by Contiki before final payment is due (see Summary Booking and Cancellation table), the deposit will be retained. If cancellation is made after final payment is due cancellation fees will apply (see Summary Booking and Cancellation table). Please also refer to Air Changes and Cancellation section where applicable. All cancellations fees as per the Summary Booking and Cancellation table are additional to any cancellation fees or other charges that may be levied by your Travel Agent. Travel Protection Plan premiums are non-refundable.
FLIGHT RESERVATIONS, DEPOSITS AND CANCELLATIONS Reservations & Ticketing: Air-inclusive bookings and some intra-trip flights may require an additional non-refundable deposit or full payment at the time of booking. On receipt of full air payment your airfare, taxes and fuel surcharges are final. Contiki does not hold an allocation of air seats and all flight reservations are made on request and are subject to the terms and conditions of the airline. Changes to flight itineraries and name changes and/ or corrections may either not be allowed or may result in penalties charged by the airline. These are the traveller’s responsibility along with the fees charged as described above. Air Changes & Cancellation: After deposit has been received any changes, including cancellations
industrial disputes, work ban or other labour dispute or difficulty; (c) acts of terrorism, political unrest, war or threat of war, riots or civil strife; (d) failure or delays to scheduled transportation and the closure of airports or ports; (e) pandemic, epidemic or health risk; (f) governmental and administrative actions (including closure of borders and travel warnings and restrictions). RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS Your trip will be confirmed after receipt of a nonrefundable deposit as detailed in the Summary Booking and Cancellation table. Air-inclusive bookings may require an additional non-refundable deposit or payment in full at the time of booking, see Flight Reservations, Deposits, and Cancellations section below. Final payment for your trip reservation will be due prior to departure no later than as detailed in the Summary Booking and Cancellation table.

FINANCIAL PROTECTION The company participates in The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund which compensates consumers who paid for but did not receive travel services because of the bankruptcy or insolvency of a registered Ontario travel agency or travel wholesaler to a maximum of $5,000,000 per incident. Consumers may also be eligible for reimbursement from the Compensation Fund if they booked and paid for airline or cruise line travel services from an Ontario registered travel retailer and have not received the travel services due to the bankruptcy or insolvency of the airline or cruise line. WHAT’S INCLUDED
IS TRANSPORT INCLUDED? You’ll need to get yourself to your start destination and back home again at the end, but for the duration of your trip all transport is included, whether air-conditioned coaches, trains, cruises, ferries or speedy internal flights. You can find all the details in your trip itinerary. With the exception of a few unguided departures, your trip will be led by one of our awesome, highly trained Trip Managers, guiding you from destination to destination. IS ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED? Accommodation is all taken care of. Wherever you go, we’re talking comfy, conveniently located hotels, fun hostels with awesome amenities, and our unique Special Stays. These are a mixture of Contiki’s own properties such as a French Chateâu or our Austrian chalet Haus Schöneck. As well as incredible partner properties such as a surf lodge in Portugal, a Riad in Marrakech, Luxury Glamping in the USA, Amazon Jungle eco-lodges or Jungle Tree Houses in Thailand. Sound good? We thought so. In Africa we’ve got safari lodges and luxe safari tents. While on our island hopping adventures you’ll be sleeping aboard cruise boats in Greece, sailboats in Croatia and traditional boats in Turkey & Vietnam. IS THERE WIFI? Yup! Don’t stress about keeping connected to all your friends and family from afar; almost all accommodation Contiki stays at offers free WiFi, so you can gram/snap/chat to your heart’s content. Most of our coaches offer free WiFi to keep you up to date while on the road. However, this isn’t unlimited. WHO RUNS THE TRIP? Unless you’re on an explorer trip or itinerary extension, your trip will be conducted in English by one of our awesome Trip Managers! IS FOOD INCLUDED? Breakfasts are included on most trips, as well as a handful of lunches and dinners to give you the flavour of a destination. For all other meals, we like to give you the freedom to explore the local culture and cuisine, and go on your own foodie safari. There’s also delicious foodie Free Time Add-Ons to sink your teeth into. DO YOU SORT TRANSFERS? Transfers between airports, hotels, railway stations and piers are occasionally included - check your itinerary! HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING? There’s limited space on board our coaches, and we want you all to be as comfy as possible, so make sure you don’t lug too much luggage around. You’ll be able to store your main luggage in the storage compartment, then you’re also allowed one piece of carry-on luggage. This must be taken on and off the coach by you each day of the trip. departure date, the deposit can be transferred to another Contiki trip, which is not less than 7 days duration, subject to the following conditions: a) the deposit may be gifted within 5 years of the cancellation date of the original booking; b) m ultiple deposits (because of back to back trips) cannot be combined and only one deposit can be transferred per trip; c) multiple trips may be booked using multiple deposits; d) t he reservation must be made and completed before the traveller attains 36 years of age (Contiki’s upper traveller age limit); e) FlexDeposit does not apply to any existing bookings, has no cash value and is non-refundable. A FlexDeposit benefit may be: a) gifted to family or friends, via an email confirmation to Contiki stating the donee’s name b) t ransferred for use with one of our sister brands (see ttc.com/brands) and must be applied to the reservation of a trip, within 5 calendar years of the cancellation date of the original booking. FlexDeposit does not include deposits for Special trips, deposits for airline tickets (whether included as part of or additional to the trip) or deposits for Third Party Travel Products and excludes any funds that have been refunded to you.
DO I HAVE TO PAY IF I CHANGE MY TRIP? Even if your travel plans change, you’ll never miss out or be charged fees for changing your booking before you pay your final balance, if you want to change the dates of your trip, swap onto another trip or even change your trip for a different region entirely, that’s all possible, without incurring fees.

WHAT’S MYCONTIKI? This is our platform to get all the info we need from you & give you all the info you would like from us. We need you to register for your trip at my.contiki.com. This only takes a few minutes and means we’ll have: • Your personal details, including your email address and phone number. • Your emergency contact info and travel insurance details, just in case we need it. • Your dietary, medical or other special requirements you may have. • Your completed Travel Health Declaration before departure. Provided full payment has been received on time & registration is completed, travel documents will be available to download no later than 21 days prior to travel, as we don’t print these (save the trees!). You’ll also find out where your Contiki trip will start & exactly what accommodation you’ll be staying in – plus the answers to a host of other FAQs.

(operating as “Active Care Management” or “ACM”) TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT PROTECTION Trip Cancellation: Up to Total Trip Cost Insured Reimburses the non-refundable Contiki cancellation penalties imposed if you must cancel your trip for a specified reason such as illness, injury or death to you, a travelling companion or an immediate family member. Other eligible reasons for cancellation include delays to your Common Carrier due to inclement weather, jury duty, subpoena, or a documented traffic accident en route to departure, and other reasons as cited in the policy. The Contiki “Pre-Departure Any Reason” Cancellation Waiver: With the Contiki “PreDeparture Any Reason” Cancellation Waiver, you will be reimbursed 100% of the cancellation charges in the form of a Contiki travel credit certificate, should you cancel your trip more than 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure for any reason that is not eligible for cash reimbursement under the Trip Cancellation section of the policy. Please note that to be eligible for the “PreDeparture Any Reason” Cancellation Waiver, you must enroll and pay for your policy within 72 hours of your initial trip deposit. The certificate is subject to terms and conditions as explained by Contiki. Trip Interruption: Unlimited after departure Trip Delay: Up to C$3,500 (C$350/day) COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Plan For a greater level of insurance and peace of mind, Manulife now offers a supplemental COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Plan, available to Canadians travelling in Canada and internationally, including to countries with a Level 3 Travel Advisory. Coverage: Emergency Medical Coverage not associated with COVID-19. MINIMUM NUMBERS Some trips are based on a minimum number of persons travelling. If a trip fails to satisfy minimum numbers, the trip may be cancelled or rescheduled BOOKING WITH A TRAVEL AGENT If you book your vacation through a travel agent then you acknowledge and agree that for your booking to be confirmed and maintained, we must have received all payments from your travel agent as detailed in the Summary Booking and Cancellation Terms table. You also agree that your travel agent is independent of Contiki and our control; and that unless expressly authorized by us in writing, we are not bound by or liable for anything affecting us that the agent may or may not do. OVERLAPPING/MODULAR TRIPS To offer our travellers more flexibility around when they start and how long they travel for, some of our trips are sections (or modules) of larger itineraries. This means that some of them overlap – for example, some of your group may have already been travelling before you join them, and may continue travelling after your adventure has come to an end. AGE RESTRICTIONS Travellers must be aged between 18 and 35 inclusive at the commencement of your trip to travel with Contiki. Our trips are designed for this age group, so please bear that in mind when you book. On some experiences as part of your trip you may be joined by other travellers who are not in the 18-35 age group. Countries have different age limits for the consumption of alcohol and other activities. You must ensure you satisfy the age limits before participating in any activity with age limits (such as the consumption of alcohol) and you release us from all liability and claims arising from your inability to participate in such activities. HEALTH, REDUCED MOBILITY, MEDICAL CONDITIONS, DISABILITIES & ASSISTANCE WHEN TRAVELLING If you suffer from reduced mobility or have any other disability or medical condition which may affect your trip arrangements, you must provide us with full details before booking. We don’t provide personal devices and can’t guarantee disabled access in all cities. If you have any concerns about mobility or a disability, give us a call and one of our team would be delighted to answer any questions you have. SPECIAL REQUESTS If you have any dietary requests, allergies or any other special request, please advise us at the time of booking. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant supplier, this is not confirmation that all requests will be met. It’s your responsibility to double check and reconfirm any requirements with all trip suppliers. WHAT IS A KICK-START MEETING? Every trip has a kick-start meeting, hosted by the Trip Manager, which happens either the night before the trip is due to start or in the evening of the first day of the trip . The kick-start meeting is where you will meet some of your group for the first time, as well as your Trip Manager. In this meeting, your Trip Manager will give you an overview of how things work on Contiki, a health and safety briefing, as well as take all necessary information/documentation they may need from you.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED
Flights to your start destination and back home again, serious bits like travel insurance & any visas you might need, fun stuff like drinks in the club, Ubers from the club, tips, those sneaky drinks you took from the mini bar - all this kind of stuff is on you.
WHAT ARE FREE TIME ADD-ONS? Your trip will come with a bunch of awesome included experiences, but our Free Time Add-Ons are the experiences we’ve picked that we think will take your trip to a whole new level. The experiences are built around activities or topics we know you love, so think food, adventure, exploration, history, culture, fashion, music - you name it. But it’s up to you if you want to do them travel exactly how you like to.
IS TIPPING COMPULSORY? Some tips are included for services on trip, however tips/gratuities for your Coach Driver, Trip Manager and Local Guides are not. If you feel like they’ve done a good job, then it’s polite to tip them, but it’s never mandatory. WHAT IF I LEAVE THE TRIP EARLY? Just as we don’t cover your flights to or from the trip, we don’t cover the cost of getting home, even if you leave the trip early, due to bad behaviour, illness, or any other reason. IS SKI OR SNOWBOARD HIRE INCLUDED? Ski and snowboard hire along with lessons are not included in Ski trips but we can happily help you out with where to book everything you need.

PASSPORTS, VISAS & OTHER ENTRY & EXIT REQUIREMENTS
WHAT PASSPORT DO I NEED? All travellers must be in possession of a machinereadable passport valid for 6 months after their trip return date along with applicable visas. Due to government imposed security/ immigration measures, passport and emergency contact information is required for all travellers prior to the release of travel documents.
WILL I NEED A VISA? Because the details change so much depending on what country you’re from & what country or countries you’re travelling to - we can’t tell you which Visas, Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETAs), affidavits or immunizations you’ll need. In some countries you may be subject to entry (reciprocity) fees and/or departure taxes/exit fees which will be collected at the airports upon entry/ departure by the local government authorities. We do definitely recommend getting any visas you need before you travel, as it’s not always possible or quick to get them at the borders. For all the latest info on the travel docs, visas, requirements & fees associated with entry & exit of countries, you must check with your Travel Agent or local consular services. It’s up to you to ensure you have all the right documents with you when you travel. If you’ve got a Canadian passport, email visa.department@travcorp.ca, they can help figure out what you‘ll need. Contiki bears no responsibility for such information and will not be responsible for advising and/or obtaining required travel documentation for any traveller, or for any delays, damages, and/or losses including missed portions of your vacation related to improper documentation or government decisions about entry.

Contiki has been running trips for young travellers since 1962 & in all countries where Contiki operates we fully comply with local travel industry laws. All your money is held in a Trust Account until the time of travel to comply with Ontario Travel Industry Regulations. Contiki is a member of the Canadian Association of Tour Operators (CATO) and the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO).
