GERNGROSS John Gerngross is a long-time Santa Barbara resident who earned his MS in mechanical engineering from UC Santa Barbara in 1982. Six years later, he started his own company, Condor Engineering, which was eventually acquired by General Electric. A member of the Dean’s Cabinet for the past five years, he has contributed generously to the College of Engineering and retains a close connection to his alma mater.
