Nuove Tecnologie E Un Nuovo Modo Di Comunicare

THE INDIAN COMPANY SPECIALIZED IN MANUFACTURING OF GRAVURE PRINTING MACHINES, LAMINATING MACHINES AND SLITTER-REWINDERS MANAGED BY KAKU KOHLI, A TRULY EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER, KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE SECTOR AND CAPABLE OF ESTABLISH A RELATIONSHIP OF FRIENDSHIP WITH EVERYONE, CUSTOMERS, SUPPLIERS AND EVEN COMPETITORS, AS DEMONSTRATED DURING THE LAST EDITION OF K ON THE OCCASION OF THE INDIAN DIWALI ANNIVERSARY

Last October 24, at the end of an intense day at K2022, we captured Kaku and Armaan Kohli for a few minutes, to let us tell their extraordinary adventure, which in 2022 has reached its 50th year of activity.

A beautiful story made up of human relationships, smiles, kindness and of course technology, capable of winning the trust of global markets, especially in recent years, at such an extent that the Indian manufacturer became a key player at international level.

“My great-grandfather founded a small company in 1965 that produced slitter-rewinders for the paper bag sector”, begins Armaan Kohli, son of Kaku, director of strategy and operations of the family business which he recently joined, after studies and training experiences in the United States. “In 1972 he moved to Mumbai and began to build also flexo stack machines. Towards the end of the 80s my father Kaku joined the company. At that time the company already had many customers in India, and the needs of the domestic market pushed more towards gravure printing, certainly more suited to the Indian reality, made up of large runs. So flexo printing was definitively abandoned”.

The company, at this point under the leadership of Kaku Kohli, begins a path of unstoppable growth which, starting from India, aims at expanding into the Asian markets, finally making itself appreciated all over the world, including Europe. Today around 150 people work for Kohli and over 1500 machines are installed in 38 countries around the world. Although sustainability is not a main focus in India, one of the secrets of success for the Indian manufacturer has been to design and build machines designed for markets, such as the European one, where instead these regulations exist and are also increasingly stringent, allowing Kohli to acquire skills and know-how for the creation of cutting-edge machines from all points of view, built in India, and characterized by a good price/quality ratio.

2020: TURNING POINT YEAR WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND A NEW WAY OF COMMUNICATING

In Kohli’s recent history, 2020 is a turning point, when the first ELS gravure machine with a speed of 500 mpm is presented, followed by the arrival of the first Rajoo-Kohli Extrusion Coating & Laminating machine with a speed of 350 mpm. To meet the Indian flexible packaging industry’s growing demands for locally manufactured extrusion laminating and coating machines, Indian machine manufacturer Rajoo Engineers has partnered with Kohli Industries to provide the market with “best-in-class” extrusion solutions at reasonable cost, such as the Lamex series, an extrusion laminating and coating
